Man Stoned To Death For Adultery in Somalia

A 48-year-old man, Mohamed Abukar Ibrahim, was executed for having an extramarital sexual relationship with a young woman. The middle-aged man was brutally pelted with mini boulder-esque stones for his crimes.

Islamic extremists and al-Qaeda wannabe group Hizbul Islam carried out what many deem as simple justice rooted deeply in the bylaws and practices of Islam.

For her part, the woman that Ibrahim slept with received 100 lashes, only escaping death herself due to the fact that she was single at the time of the affair.

Mohamed stoned to death.

What a law! May his soul rest in peace.

  3. honestly, that is just sad. and the thing is, i always thought this brutality was what islam was about, i always thought it was a violent religion. that was until i went up north for NYSC, now i have come to realise that i was wrong and that these acts are usually carried out by uneducated people being barbaric. i've developed a lot of respect for muslims and their way of life. i must tell u, this from what i've learnt is definitely not what Islam is about.

  4. by what standards, linda do u judge this law and critisize it? am not saying it is rong.. neither am i saying it bad.. all am asking is what standards are u judging it by?
a law is a law and it is meant to be adhered to..
in the penal code, if u murdder, ure either convicted to life imprisonment or death.
u can argue and say killing a person is harsher than adultery but the holy books both say do not commit adultery and murder so they are both donts.
what i think is if people know the rules of their land, they shud stick to it and not go against it, that way we all stay out of trouble.

  10. This is painfully sad. I kept looking over and over again to see if this is for real, bcos i couldn't stop thinking about it.
I don't like the fact that people refuse to see the truth in the name of trying to be nice or don't want to hurt anyone. I don't hate muslims, especially when half of my family practice Islam, and the other half claim to be christians. I believe every religion has been distorted and abused one way or the other. It's not about been an uneducated muslim, or Islam been a violent religion, bcos all the practices they have, they believe them in their heart that's how it should be. It just happens that some muslims are more fanatic than others, just like how some christians are more fanatic than others, but each person still goes by some type of beliefs, they believe to be the ONLY TRUTH. So ofcourse, you will see some muslims who don't practice sharia law, but doesn't take away from what they believe in. For example, my uncle is a muslim, but not a fanatic, when I told him about this, he totally agreed with it. He said he shouldn't have committed adultery then. The interesting thing is, this is coming from a guy who has three wives, and while he was married to his first wife, he was seeing different women. Isn't that adultery? Can I say bunch of hypocrites, just like some so called christians, they say something, but do the other. I'm not a religious person, but when you study deeply into christianity and Islam, they are NO similarities at all, they are like total opposite of each other, bcos I know some people who claim that. geez, it's all the same. The main difference is Jesus. Christians believe when you sin, you can ask for forgiveness, and you will be given another chance, bcos that's the whole purpose of Jesus dying on the cross, but Islam believe once you sin, it's the end, no second chance, but you can be better by doing alms, but still is not guaranteed.

  11. This is what happens when you have a failed government and country without any real leadership that is overrun by "Islamic scholars" that are probably doing worse things than this man that was killed.

And for Anonymous who is questioning by what standard Linda should judge..go and sit down. Why don't you relocate to Somalia and see how long you last in a country where human rights and one's right to privacy is not respected.
