RIP Yobe State Gov + Naija News + SAG Awards 2009 in pix

The death has been announced of the Governor of Yobe State, Mamman Bello Ali. He died at the age of 50 in Miami, Florida, United States of America after a prolonged battle with cancer.
May his soul rest in peace.

BTW, is he the first Governor to die while in office? Can't recollect any other one...

Also RIP to Iyabo Momoh. The Talented Yoruba actress and former Mama Ajasco in the Papa Ajasco and Company series died following a protracted illness which had affected her career for sometime now. She was said to be suffering from cancer.
May her soul rest in peace.

Blind minstrel, Kokoro, passes on at 84
The highly talented blind minstrel, Pa Benjamin Aderounmu, popularly called Kokoro, has passed on.
He died at 84 on Sunday 25th, Jan, at a private hospital in Lagos.

May his soul rest in peace.

It will be a cruise filled with fun, laughter, food, champagne, a lingerie fashion show and good music from the baddest band in the land- Dejavu featuring T.W.O’ Tunde discloses.

WEIRD MC FINALLY READY FOR ANOTHER ALBUM
All is now set for the release of Weird MC’s third album- New Dawn


Her first album Simply Weird’ was Nigeria’s first full-length rap album, and she didn’t fall below standard with her sophomore album ‘After Da Storm’. Now more than a decade after she first hit the lime light, Adeshola Idowu who we have all come to refer to as Weird MC is about to make another statement.


With new videos, a fresh set of songs, a new management team, and contagious excitement, the rappatainer has shown to us that she means business. ‘I’m not tired of doing good music, I have been doing music for more than a decade now, and I already understand the dos and don’ts s of the industry, so I’m too sure that the album won’t be below standard’ the energetic performer disclosed ‘Riranwo’- The first single off her third album was released on July 9, 2007 as a fore runner for the album, but for more than a year, Weird MC has been so quiet about the release of her album until October 2008 when she played a fast one on us with the release of the video for Riranwo.

‘Well, it is not like I intentionally wanted to be silent all these while, but the thing is that I have been working, I have been doing a lot of underground work, which will come to fore in a matter of months’

The second video off the album ‘Step Up’ was released last week and Weird MC is ready for a new dawn ‘The video was directed by DJ Tee, and we have really taken our time because I usually don’t like taking fans for granted. And from what we see now, I know I am good to go’ she said on a final note.


The video for Step up was conceptualized by Weird MC and was shot on 35mm for two days in South Africa. The video will rock the airwaves for weeks before the release of the album in March 2009 on her record label- 0907 entertainment.

Weird MC first gained national recognition in 1997 with her hit single ‘Allen Avenue’ which won her the awards for the best hip hop act at the first edition of the Awards for Musical Excellence (Amen awards) in October 2008, after which she went on a long sabbatical, and only made a come back in 2005 with her monster hit ‘Ijoya’.

Her influences include Miriam Makeba, Femi Kuti, Lauren Hill, Jimi Hendrix and others.

    No, he is not!....I believe the first one was a governor of Sokoto who fell off his horse, broke his neck and died while playing polo during Shagari's regime.
