Naija Entertainment News, Husband of the Year Award and other news

RIP to Sammy Needle and Elder Steve Rhodes, who passed on two days ago.
Elder Steve Rhodes died in a London hospital after surgery on Thursday 29th May. He was 82. May his soul rest in peace.

Sammy's death greatly saddens me, not just because he was a friend, known him for more than 9years, but also because he was young, full of life and had his whole life ahead of him. He was working on so many projects before his untimely death. He's survived by his parents and wife. May his beautiful soul rest in peace. Amen!

To other news...

According to Soundcity music TV, this is what our Naija artists are worth:
Tuface Idibia - $5 million
Olu Maintain - $3.5 million
Dbanj - $3 million
P-Square - $3 million

Tuface is worth 5 million dollars? Really? That means he's worth about 600 million Naira?
I don't know if I believe all this figures. I know they are making so much money but this much? What do you guys think?

Boutiques Shut Over N26m Debt At Silverbird Galleria
By Simon Ateba
Some of you must have noticed that the floor that housed Nu metro and other shops at Silverbird Galleria has been shut down. Here's the inside story...courtesy P.M News

For their inability to pay about four months rent put at N26 million, the management of Silverbird Galleria, owners of Silverbird Television, has shut some boutiques and restaurants at its imposing edifice on Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The first floor of the galleria, comprising several boutiques and restaurants, is managed by Nu-Metro.

P.M.News learnt that the closure took effect last Friday after the Silverbird management learnt that Nu-Metro had been allegedly collecting money from the occupants but refused to pay Silverbird.
A staff of Silverbird Galleria, who does not want to be named, told P.M.News that Nu-Metro is owing Silverbird N26 million.
He said: “Nu-Metro is owing us N26 million. They have been receiving money from the boutiques on the floor they manage but have refused to pay and we had no option than to shut down the place.
“Aside this, we want to use the floor for something else. We want them to go. But before leaving, they will have to pay us, as their belongings are in our custody.
“This place was meant for adults and high fliers in the society but we now have a lot of kids running around the place. That is not in the original plan,” the source added.
When P.M.News visited the place on Friday, Nu-Metro, as well as a popular restaurant located on the second floor of the Galleria, Barcelos, were not open for business.

I9 year old is Mayor in Oklahoma...Incredible!
John Tyler Hammons, the University of Oklahoma freshman trounced 70 year-old Hershel McBride to become the mayor of Muskogee, Oklahoma, making it the first city in the nation to be governed by a self-admitted gamer.
The fresh-faced leader is turning his sights on cleaning up the town's politics by establishing an independent ethics commission and locking down campaign finance reporting.
"I'm sure the (city) council will work with me on these issues," he said. "I campaigned on this, and this is something I intend to push."
Tired of the same old political shenanigans, the townsfolk are backing their new man.
"He doesn't have the baggage. He doesn't owe anybody anything," said cafe owner Gary Armstrong. "It's sort of a fresh start for Muskogee."
Best known as the subject of country legend Merle Haggard's 1969 hit "Okie from Muskogee," the unassuming city of 38,000 is considered the archetype of virtuous, small town America, a "place where even squares can have a ball."
Wow!

Fire guts down 50's baby mama's home
Officials say arson may be the cause of a massive fire at Bugsy’s ex-girlfriends’ crib:
“A raging fire that one fire official called “definitely suspicious” gutted a Dix Hills home owned by the Grammy-nominated rapper 50 Cent Friday morning, sending six people inside the house to the hospital [including] 50 Cent’s ex-girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, and their 10-year-old son, Marquise.
One of the first firefighters to arrive on the scene [said], ‘I would say there is a strong — a strong, strong — possibility that it is suspicious.’ Asked why he believed the fire was suspicious [the firefighter said], ‘The rapid movement of the fire. The volume of the fire . . . It was engulfed. The home was totally gutted.’

The home at 2 Sandra Drive, purchased by the rapper in January 2007 for a reported $1.4 million, has been at the center of a lawsuit between 50 Cent and Tompkins. The 32-year-old rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, last month tried to evict Tompkins and their son from the home unless she paid him $4,500 a month in rent.”

Babyface expecting baby no3
Kenneth `Babyface’ Edmonds is set to become a dad again - his dancer girlfriend is pregnant with his third child. The singer/songwriter, 50, has two sons with ex-wife Tracey Edmonds. Sources insist Babyface and his 35-year-old partner, Nikki Pantenburg, have no plans to wed. The baby is due at the end of 2008. Babyface is 50? Still looks great!

Baby Mamas + Great Photos

I want to meet a man, fall in love, get married and have a baby.
...in that particular order...

I want a man to go down on his knees (or any romantic way he chooses to propose) and ask me to be his wife. I want to wear an engagement ring, while planning my wedding. I want to go shopping for my wedding trousseau. I want to wear a beautiful white wedding gown and have my dad walk me down the aisle to my future husband. I want to exchange rings and vows with him in front of man and God. I want to have my family and friends around me to share in my joy.

I want to be Mrs Linda...., then 7,8,9, 10 months after my wedding, I want to bring a child into this world. If I'm lucky, I will have my husband in the labor room with me...

This is my dream. The way I want it to happen for me...

The way most women want it...

BUT there are a few women who really don't care how it happens.
They want to meet a man, fall in love, get married and have a baby...the difference is, they don't care in what order it comes...

Most of our ladies nowadays don't seem to care much about weddings and being married before having kids. I am beginning to think there are more baby mamas than married mamas...lol
Is our generation so content with being just baby mamas? Don't we want weddings anymore? Or is marriage now over-rated?

I overheard a lady telling someone on the phone that she's leaving the father of her two children. "It's not as if I'm married to him anyway" she said.

I know someone else who has 3 kids from 2 different men and never been married. She's still in her 20's. Too many to mention....

Pls I'm not judging, condemning or looking down on women who have kids outside wedlock. I have absolutely nothing against children borne out of wedlock...things happen. There's no right or wrong way with this. It all depends on how we choose to live our lives...

What I want to know is this: Is marriage over-rated? Is that why people don't care about formalising their union before they start a family? Don't young women care about weddings anymore? We don't mind not being Mrs. before being mums? Is it OK to have kids with a man you're not married to? Didn't most of our mothers marry our fathers before they had us? There are too many people having kids now outside wedlock. Why is the trend so in NOW?

Share your thoughts!
Look at this pictures carefully...

Weird huh? I'm sure it got some of you thinking...hmmmmm....

Lets be friends...
If animals can do it...why can't we?

Is that for real? Wow!

Call for models
I’m sure y’all know I run a modeling Agency. Photo modeling in Nigeria usually starts booming from June. That’s when many companies start getting ready for the following year's campaign.

Some of my clients have started rejecting my models; they’ve used them over and over again, now they are looking for fresh, new faces. If I want to stay in business, I need new models. So if there’s anyone out there who’s interested in modeling, or knows someone who has the potential and interest to model, pls contact us ASAP.

We have a photo session this weekend, if they can make it…fine, if not, we’ll schedule a session for them. No height, colour, age, or sex preference. Just be good looking. That’s enough for us.
If interested call Sandra on 07025357560…she’s expecting your call.

AND pls you're not allowed to make any comment on what my models have on, that picture was taken last year during our 'wrapper' craze. I don't want to hear another word on that, I've heard enough...if you make any snide remark, I won't bring you Naija Ent. News...try me!

LOL, just kidding!

Naija Entertainment News...

Dimeji Alara opens up on stroke at 25
Remember, I told y'all sometime ago that ex-Genevieve reporter, Dimeji Alara suffered stroke? Well, he recently opened up to Stella Dimoko Korkus about what happened to him...
Excerpt

We heard about the stroke you had, can you tell us about it?
Dimeji
"I was quite shocked when it happened and I never meant for it to come out. I don't know how it did. It was the mini one, and it's also known as the cerebral transient ischemic attack. Imagine you wake up one morning and a part of you isn’t functioning. I didn’t realize what was wrong at first, and then I realized my eyes were hitching. I hadn’t figured what it was because it had been opened all through and I couldn’t close it. And then, while I was trying to drink water, it would pour out from the other side of my mouth. It was then I looked in the mirror and realized what had happened. This was April 28th, 2008

You are still young, what could have caused this stroke?
Dimeji
“It isn’t something you expect. And it’s never something I thought would happen to me. But actually, the night before it happened, I broke down because of certain changes in my life that I was finding hard to accept. I wasn't happy at all and prior to that, I'd been going through depression. I've never talked about this before. I don't want to sound pathetic, but sometimes it hepls when you talk about things that bother you irrespective of what anybody would think or say."

How does your family feel about it?

Dimeji "My family doesn't live in Nigeria except my father...but I hadn't seen my father for two years before this happened. We haven't been calling each other also. So he came and spent the night in my house. We talked all through the time he was with me. It was great, we really bonded and put every issue we had aside. It gets to a point in your life when you suddenly realise how important family is...I was at that point in my life..."

How are you recovering?

Dimeji "I am recovering very well, except that I'm trying to take things very easy at the moment. I've also started doing a lot of exercise. But I haven't been socialising. I really miss everyone and I appreciate their concern. I was surprised when I logged on to the internet and it was all over the internet. I started reading people's comments and it was so touching. It feels good to know that I'm loved. Though I still find it amazing that certain people were happy with the news. I won't mention names but I wish them the best anyway"

How has this incident changed your life?

Dimeji "I've been blown away by my journey and what I'm trying to achieve. I am proof that you can shine through adversity. I am feeling more in control and comfortable in my life these days. I've always felt like my early years were waiting to board a plane. I was in the departure lounge of who I really am now. I'm happier, I'm optimistic and I've never felt better about my life. The thing about happiness is that you need the contrast to fully experience it but you only understand that as you get older"

Pero Adeniyi gives birth to baby boy. Our lover boy, sensational singer, Tuface Idibia is now a father of FOUR. One of his baby mamas, Pero Adeniyi gave birth to a beautiful baby boy days back in the US. She's expected back in the country with the bundle of joy in a few weeks. Meanwhile, Sumbo, his other baby mama, who had a son for tuface a few weeks back has named her new son, Tuface Idibia Jr. Tuface Idibia...Congrats!

Florence Ita-Giwa explains her exit from Yar'Adua's Government
"He didn't sack me"
Senator Florence Ita-Giwa is no longer a part of the Yaradua government
She spoke to Emeka Umejei of Encomium magazine

Congratulations on your disengagement from political office (Congratulations?)
And she answered.
Ita-Giwa "Thank you!"
lol

Was it that you resigned or you were sacked as reported in the local newspaper?
Ita-Giwa "I don't know what they are talking about. Who will drop me? I don't know why they think I was dropped. I have a letter of commendation from the president. For what reason would he have sacked me? For helping set up a government? For helping sustain democracy? It's mischief and it's very unfair to President Yar'adua because they are trying to knock heads together and they will not succeed. The impression here is that anybody that is connected to Obasanjo is sacked but I am a Senator in the first place. I finished my tenure with obasanjo, I was just assisting and now I insisted I must leave to face Bakassi

What is the next level for you?
Ita-Giwa
"I resigned my appointment to face Bakassi issue. And I am proudly the chairman of the BAKASSI RESETTLEMENT AND RELOCATION COMMITTEE. You know Nigeria has to move out of the territory by August and we are working day and night. We want to resettle th Bakassi people properly. I couldn't do that while holding two jobs"

Does that imply you don't intend to seek any political office in future?
Ita-Giwa
"I am in politics as a political leader of Bakassi people. Politics is not all about contesting election, you can be a power broker. I don't know what I am going to do, but I need a break because I have been like this for 15 years. I am actually tired of all the intrigues"
