ANOTHER TEENAGER STABBED IN LONDON!

Paul Erhahon

What is going on in London for goodness sake? All this killing of teenagers by teenagers is getting out of hand. Is there no parental and authority control over there? Why are this children allowed to destroy themselves?

Another teenager was stabbed and killed yesterday Friday April 6th. The victim was 14 year old Paul Erhahon, who was stabbed alongside his 15-year-old friend near a block of flats in Leytonstone during a confrontation with a large gang of youths. His friend survived it but Paul later died in the hospital.

His murder follows a number of other violent gang-related murders involving teenagers in the UK.

You all remember Adam Regis? 15-year-old nephew of Olympic sprinter John Regis, who was stabbed to death in an east London street last month, just days after 16-year-old Kodjo Yenga was knifed to death in west London.

In February 2007 alone, three teenagers were shot dead in separate incidents in south London.

And remember 11 year old Damilola Taylor?

What is going on people? Especially you Nigerians who live in the UK. Are your kids safe there? This killing seem to be getting out of hand and I am so scared for Nigerian teenagers growing up in such an environment.

And why isn't the Government over there doing anything to clip the wings of this teenager? They are letting them get away with something as serious as murder. They are killing people like it's the most natural thing to do. What is the problem? what are they fighting about? And the worse part of all this is that it's mostly blacks that are being killed...by their fellow blacks. 70% or more of the dead teenagers are Africans. Why? Murder committed by children who should be in school studying to be better in life.

If all they know now as teenagers is carrying weapons, violence and murder, what will happen when they become adults? Soon London will become very volatile if nothing is done about this ASAP!

I think it's time the Government take a very drastic measure to curb this insanity. Young people don't deserve to die this way...no one deserves to be stabbed to death over issues I'm sure are very trivial.

Sincerely I fear for Nigerian teenagers who live in this part of London. If you think it's not safe for your children over there, move them to a safer environment or simply send them back home. Home is safer!

NIGERIA'S NEXT TOP MODEL

How many of you have heard about this competition? I just heard about it now myself and I was surprised. I didn't know such a thing was going on in Nigeria. Does anyone know anything about this? I have no details whatsoever but I'll go digging to find out more. Unfortunately their website is disabled right now but I'll find a way to get details. I do know for sure that there's no advert about this in Nigeria, I wonder why that is.
If there's anyone who can give us details about this modeling competition, please do let us know.

If this is real, then it's a great thing to happen in this country. A really wonderful thing to happen! Great things are happenning in this country and I'm so proud to be a Nigerian. Things can only get better!!!

WEST AFRICAN IDOLS

Hi everyone. How are you enjoying your Easter holiday? I hope everything is going accordingly?May God continue to guide and protect us all.

I'm just back from West Africa Idol at Planet One Events, nothing spectacular happened except that I realised that there is talent in this country. Real talent! The contestants were incredible, especially Timi, Eric, Omawunmi, and Jodie. Jodie got a standing ovation from the audience. I'd thought Timi was the best amongts the contestants but Eric and Jodie prooved me wrong. I think it's between those three. Anyway, may the best man win.

All in all it was a great way to unwind. I had fun!

All you Idol WA ardent followers, who do you think should win this competition? Let's know what you think.

GOOD FRIDAY!

Happy celebrations everyone! Today is good Friday and there's just so many things good about today...for me at least...Hope it's the same for you too. I'm off to church to celebrate the death of Christ and thank him for everything he's done in my life. If you can, please go to church, even if it's just to celebrate the gift of life. There were just so many people with hopes and expectations who didn't live to see today. We are blessed to still be alive, let's thank God for that.

Also, I went out driving today and for the first time in weeks, there was no traffic in the city of Lagos. Can anyone imagine that? Those who live in Lagos know what I'm talking about. It was so unbelievable, especially on a Friday afternoon...something dey happen o! If only it's always like this...life would be so much easier for Lagosians.

Anyway, do have yourselves a beautiful day. I'll see if I can find time to give you more gists. And remember, no furnication o, today na holy day o. If you must do, do am small small o!
Do take care. Love and Kisses!!! Linda

INTIMATE DETAILS OF NEW MBGN.

For those of you who care to know, here are a few intimate details of Nigeria's Most Beautiful Girl 2007, Munachi Nwankwo.

Age: 19
State Of Origin: Imo
Educational Background: 200L student, Benson Idahosa University, Benin
Status: Single. Not in any relationship

Childhood dream: To be a beauty queen
How she came about contesting for MBGN : Her friend encouraged her to get the MBGN form. She was reluctant at first because she thought she was too short, but was talked into contesting by friends and family

Pageant experience: No prior experience in pageantry. MBGN was her first.
What gave her the crown: According to her, God
If she thought she was going to win: She didn't really think she was going to win, but kept an open mind.
If she was intimidated by other girls: She wasn't because she didn't go into the pageant with a do or die notion. She felt a little insecure though, because some of the other contestants referred to her as fat, but she held her head up high through out camp (Her words).

Her parents support and reaction to her winning: Her parents were extremely supportive. Her mum was there with her through out praying and encouraging her with words. Her dad was in London all through her camping and winning but was encouraging with words.

How she intends to handle men and avoid scandals: To be as low key as possible. The glamour and crown will not make her forget where she's coming from. She will handle her reign as decent and as intelligent as possible with God on her side

Next on her wish list: To win Miss World

What she intends to do after her reign: To stay in the entertainment industry because that is where she has always wanted to be.

Her role models: Her mum, Opral Benson and Beyonce

Munachi in words: Humble, friendly, God fearing, emotional, likes to help people and laughs alot.

I'm feeling our new queen. She might not be tall or have that striking Miss World beauty like Agbani, but there's something about her that I just can't place my fingers on...maybe I should say she's special? The last time we had a beauty queen like her was MBGN 1998, Chika Chikezie. A regular everyday pretty girl, that has more than looks to offer. People are saying she won't go far at the Miss World pageant, this girl might surprise us all, not by winning but by making a statement. You do not have to be strikingly beautiful and tall to be a beauty queen. Beauty on the inside also matters and I think she's got it!

I have two questions for y'all:
1. If you had been one of the judges, would you have picked her as the queen over all the others?
2. Can you describe Munachi's beauty and personality in one word?

JOHN TRAVOLTA KISSING A GUY+ PLANE MISHAP.

There's been speculation that John Travolta is Bi-sexual. I don't believe it but can someone explain why he's kissing this guy on the lips?
Meanwhile, the actor had a big scare Monday night April 2nd, when his private jet was forced to make an emergency landing at an airport in Ireland. Travolta, a certified pilot, was flying the Boeing 707 himself when it was hit by the mid-air scare. He was travelling to New York after a TV appearance in Germany promoting his new film, Wild Hogs. The jet is still grounded while engineers try to fix the fault, but Travolta hired another plane to complete his journey.
Thank God he was unhurt.

TEN WAYS TO SCREW UP YOUR SEX LIFE.

I bought a 'sex' book last week titled 'Let's Talk About Sex', anyone know it? I didn't get around to reading it until yesterday. And boy did I learn a lot about sex or what? Sometimes we think we know it all...but we really don't. That's why it's so important to share in other people's experiences, listen to expert opinions and advise and read books that deal with issues that affect us directly. After reading a portion of the book, I decided to share an interesting part of it with all of you. Something tells me you'll enjoy this!

Excerpts from the book:

Ten ways to screw up your sex life

We’re all looking for a quick fix to our sexual dilemmas. We want a pill or a video or a series of complex finger movements that will magically make us less anxious and more confident about exposing our true sexual selves.

Of course no such magic pill exists and in the end our sex lives are, both literally and figuratively, in our own hands.

But in the spirit of getting to the point, here are ten sure fire ways to not get what you want sexually, and to screw up your sex life something awful.

Compare yourself to others:
Sexuality may be the most subjective aspect of human experience. Forget the magazine quizzes and six step sex books, there is simply no meaningful way to compare yourself to someone else when it comes to your sexuality. Plus, everyone lies about their sex life anyway. Comparing yourself sexually to others will give you nothing but grief. If you want to do something useful for your sex life, focus on yourself and anyone you’re having sex with, and don’t turn away.

Ignore your body:
None of us have perfect bodies. But we’re inundated with pieced together visions of beauty that we all compare ourselves to an unattainable ideal. In response many of us turn away from our bodies, pretend they, we, aren’t there. But whatever your body is like, your sexuality is part of it, and you ignore your body at the expense of genuine sexual pleasure and empowerment. It’s not easy, but working with the body you’ve got is one crucial part of improving your sex life.

Only listen to the experts:
If you really want to screw up your sex life, do every thing the sex experts tell you. It’s not that people with expertise don’t have something to offer, but sexuality is so personal and unique that the most important expert is you. If you want to grow as a sexual being, you have to pay attention to your own experience first, and then listen to others and decide what of their advice rings true.

Stop paying attention (or never start):
Sexuality is as much about awareness as it is about action. From birth to death, our bodies and minds never stop changing, growing, and developing. This means our sexuality never stops changing either. When you stop paying attention to your most personal sexual feelings and experiences, you shut yourself off from that change, and from aspects of your sexual self. The goal is to become less sexually ignorant as we age, not more.

Grow up, and get serious.:
Sex is the closest thing adults have to the kind of play they engaged in when we were kids. While sex can be about all sorts of grown up things like having kids, making love, transcending duality, it can also just be a rollicking good time. If you make sex just one more thing that’s serious and routine, and only done in reasonable ways, you lose much of the power and magic of sex in our lives.

Believe that ignorance is bliss:
We all live with a certain level of sexual ignorance. This ignorance keeps us at risk; risk of bad sex, risk of STDs, risk of too many regretful moments. If you want to maintain that level of risk, just keep up your level of ignorance. If you want to turn the tide then get out there and learn something about sex that’s relevant to your own life from someone who is qualified to teach you.

Confuse sex entertainment with sex education:
Most of the books and magazine articles you read about sex are written by people with two qualifications; they look cute and they live in New York. Sex entertainment (movies, adult workshops, sex toy stores) can be a fun way to explore your options. But it isn’t the same thing as sex education or sex therapy. If you’re feeling good about your sex life but want more, sex entertainment may offer a quick boost. But if you’re feeling genuinely stuck and distressed about your sexuality or your sex life, be sure to turn to a qualified sex educator, counselor, or therapist.

Be narrow minded:
Making the arbitrary decision that however you’re having sex is the only way to have sex is another guaranteed route to sexual disappointment. Regardless of your political and religious beliefs, there are countless ways for you to express and experience your sexuality. What you need isn’t to go against your principles or blur your boundaries. What you need is to be creative (the opposite of narrow minded).

Act like sex is something special:
Our sexuality is linked to all aspects of our lives; our health, our families, our jobs and retirement, everything. In this way, sex isn’t really anything special; it’s everywhere. It follows that if you want to change your sex life in a substantial way you have to change other aspects of your life as well. But when you segregate sex from the rest of your life, whether that means putting it on a pedestal or in an old shoe box, you reduce your chances of change, and cut off awareness that can help you grow sexually.

Let fear be your guide
Sex is scary. Partly because we know so little, and partly because sex demands we give up control and expose ourselves. As a result many of us make a pre-emptive retreat. We don’t talk about our desires, we don’t tell our partners what we really want to do, or even what we fantasize about doing but would never want to do in real life. We keep ourselves hidden and collude with partners by not pushing them too much. Oftentimes fear is a reasonable response. But if you’re in a relationship where there is trust, the more you let fear be your guide, the less you’ll get out of the relationship.

This book deals with so many issues about sex, maybe I'll post some relevant subjects in subsequent days. Did you learn anything from this? Let me know!

HOLY WEEK.

We entered Holy Week on Sunday April 1st, but how many of you know what 'Holy Week' is all about? If you are interested, here is what you need to know.

Holy Week is in Christianity the week from Palm Sunday (also called Passion Sunday) through Holy Saturday, leading to Easter Sunday. It is observed in many Christian churches as a time to commemorate and enact the suffering (Passion) and death of Jesus through various observances and services of worship

The days in Holy Week

Holy Thursday
There are a variety of events that are clustered on this last day before Jesus was arrested that are commemorated in various ways in services of worship. These include the last meal together, which was probably a Passover meal, the institution of Eucharist or Communion, the betrayal by Judas (because of the exchange with Jesus at the meal), and Jesus praying in Gethsemane while the disciples fell asleep. Most liturgies, however, focus on the meal and communion as a way to commemorate this day.

Holy Friday
Friday of Holy Week has been traditionally been called Good Friday or Holy Friday. On this day, the church commemorates Jesus’ arrest (since by Jewish customs of counting days from sundown to sundown it was already Friday), his trial, crucifixion and suffering, death, and burial. Since services on this day are to observe Jesus’ death, and since Eucharist is a celebration, there is traditionally no Communion observed on Good Friday.

Also, depending on how the services are conducted on this day, all pictures, statutes, and the cross are covered in mourning black, the chancel and altar coverings are replaced with black, and altar candles are extinguished. They are left this way through Saturday, but are always replaced with white before sunrise on Sunday

Holy Saturday
This is the seventh day of the week, the day Jesus rested in the tomb. In the first three Gospel accounts this was the Jewish Sabbath, which provided appropriate symbolism of the seventh day rest. While some church traditions continue daily services on Saturday, there is no communion served on this day.
Some traditions suspend services and Scripture readings during the day on Saturday, to be resumed at the Easter Vigil after sundown Saturday. It is traditionally a day of quiet meditation as Christians contemplate the darkness of a world without a future and without hope apart from God and his grace.

Let the word of God reach and stay with you all through out this special week and many years to come.
