FIFA World Footballer of the Year + Edition3 cover + Top Model Search

Ricardo Kaka is world footballer of the year 2007. He was crowned just last night, Mon 17th Dec. While Christiano Ronaldo came in a close second and Merci, third!

Nice choice you would say hmmm?

Meanwhile here's what the 3rd edition of the mag will kinda look like...

What do you guys think of this cover? It's absolutely not what the end result will look like. This is something we did in the office ourselves. We haven't gotten a professional graphic person to look at it yet.

We just wanted to see what it will kind of look like...

But this is the photo we intend to use (It hasn't been worked on)...and the cover stories!

She and I did the photo session same day...we had her in regular clothes (Clothed by Collectibles boutique), but everyone at work kinda preferred this pic...

Anyone like?

She's one of the wave making models right now in Naija. Hot on the runway. I want to use the magazine to promote modeling and models in Nigeria. So for now, no celeb is gracing the cover...maybe later!

So what do you guys think?

What do you think of this pix of me? Hilarious abi?

People seem to like it. I find it...hilarious! 'Sharia woman' wanna-be! lol!

Meanwhile, here is the flyer we did for Top Model Search

I totally don't like this photograph. But the director picked it 'cos he thinks that's the only pic that has a message. Something like 'From me to you!'

Whatever! lol!

Well, I indulged him but this is definitely not what I'm using for the handbills and posters. We made this into cards to present to potential sponsors.

I'm going all out in the picture for the real campaign.

You know 'The more you look, the less you see' kinda photograph.

What do you think?

When the real pictures and posters are out, I'll let y'all see it!

If there's anyone interested in this idea, get in touch with me.

Meanwhile, the Dynamix award is tomorrow. I'll be there 'cos I'm co-ordinating the Collectibles fashion show at the event. Tried to get out of it, but got boxed in. I'll see if there's any gist I can get from that event...

The Dynamix Award is an Award for students all over Nigeria...I wonder why the organiser, Tunde, wasn't nominated for Future Awards...he sure is a very hard working young man.

Anyway, hope everyone is alright? Life is treating you good? Happy? No break-ups? No heartbreaks? Making plans for a wonderful xmas? Remember to say your prayers?

Disappointed?

It's around this time of the year we start to count our blessings and losses. What did we achieve in 2007 we wonder? We start to compare ourselves to the person next to us...

But that's not necessary, because after all said and done, what matters most of all, is happiness and peace of mind!

So don't worry, if 2007 wasn't so great, 2008 will be beautiful! Life is about to get even better for us all! 2008 is our year! You just watch!

See you all later.

kisses!

  4. Linda, I think the model's pose on the upcoming cover seems a little amateur. The wrap is a little short. Are the nigerian conservative masses ready for that yet?

Meanwhile I like the poster for the model search. Nice. Good luck with everything.

  7. Linda, I think the cover is kind of red. I was wondering if you could change the colour of the dress of the model to something more matching.
The title of the mag is in red and you have some of your articles in red too. I feel it is generally too red.

How do I get the mag in Port Harcourt, and what are your subscription plans.

  8. Hi Linda! Just want to comment on the "Sharia wannabe" pic. You actually look pregnant in the picture and it's totally not cool. Your model for the 3rd edition on the other hand is GREAT. No need for an expert again.

  9. i was thinking why not make / get the model of the cover picture of your magazine wear a gown, you know, the kinda Beyonce style cause she has that kind of body other than the sheet (u know what i mean)

Why? Cause it looks kinda the same with your promotional bill for the "Model search with Linda Ikeji," and i guess both of u are not all about the same thing but all n all is all gooood. What do you think, Linda ... babes?

  13. The cover is red hot no doubt, but there some room for improvement.

You on the cover of your "Top Model Search" poster is even more chic than the cover of your magazine. The TV Reality Show will be a success, so relax and add some flesh.

Here a Niger Delta maiden on the website of the L.A Times on http://yourscene.latimes.com/mycapture/photos/JXImage.aspx?ImageID=173251&EventID=143832&CategoryID=18065.

I wish you all the best.

    Cheers and God bless.

  14. LINDA DEAR,

YOUR BLOG IS THE FIRST THING I READ EVERY TIME I GET TO MY COMPUTER IN THE MORNING.

PLS CAN'T YOU PUT A COVER THAT I WILL SEE ON THE STAND AND BE VERY PROUD TO BUY IT, THE COVER IS NOT GOOD, I'M SORRY I DO NOT PRETEND. MAKE IT MORE DESCENT

OR ELSE I FEEL IT IS GOING TO BE ONE SIDED, I.E A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKE ME THAT LOVES YOU SO MUCH WOULD NOT WANT TO BUY THE MAG 'COS OF THE COVERS (ALMOST NUDE)

SORRY TO MENTION THIS, GENEVIEVE MAG IS A MAG I AM SO PROUD OF AND I TELL MY COLLEAGUES ABOUT IT

  15. Make a cover so that a 60 year old grand mother would see it a buy it.

I pray you take this advice, why? u refuse to take the advice for your time (clock).

Your now a public figure and a lot of people love a already

  16. Hi Linda,
Love your fotos; but they are unsuitable for your magazine front cover display. dont think our people are quite ready for such exposure just yet. the fotos could give out the wrong message on the type & content of your magazine. Your magazine focuses on fashion, entertainment & lifestyle right? in that case, & for credibiity, less is more. :)

  17. regular clothes on yr model please.....hair and makeup need to be on point.....lackin in that area presently.......vogue, glamour magazines should give u ideas.....less is not always better......lose the wrap 4 ever......

  19. Hi Linda,
I'm a Nigerian graphic designer based in Canada and an avid reader of your blog. Just some comments on the layout of the magazine.I hope ypu will find them useful.
First and foremost, remove some of the clutter in front of the magazine, personally I think there's too much info thrown at you.
Reduce the leading i.e. the space between the sentences, once that is tightened the layout will look cleaner.
I see you are creating empahasis by using either bigger fonts or stronger colours that's great!
Lastly, your model needs a little bit of work.I worked in the fashion industry here, and have had to do alot or some "work" to the photo's before print.
That extra flesh at the top of the armpit should go, shave off some of the extra saddle bags from her legs. Do some touch up on her skin.
Unfortunately, its the market, perfection sells, so anything you put out ther will compered to images of models from te western media. Good Luck!

    Ify

  20. correction: Kaka won the footballer of the year with Messi and C.Ronaldo coming second and third respectively.

  21. The model wrapped in orange, I observed the legs were not of same proportion one tends to be thinner (not being insultive), but you would need to adjust the airbrush on her.

  22. Linda... I am not to sure about the girl on the cover like Ofro said it does look a little bit amateurish...and her knees seem a bit ashy
