Personality: Ghanian actor, Van Vicker.

I don't watch Naija home videos...but any movie that features this guy who I consider the finest actor in Africa, Van Vicker?...I'm sitting my ass down to watch it. His acting ain't all that really, but his looks compensate for that. Last night, I couldn't believe I sat down to watch the part 1 & 2 of 'Beyonce' (Yeah the title right?), a movie he featured in...ask me what the movie was about? Can't tell you. Ask me his height, skin colour, the way he smiles, walks, talks, gesticulates? I'll tell you. lol. The guy is so cute it's stupid.

Van in the middle

Van with Ghanaian actress Nadie Bouari

Here are some of his movies...
Divine Love
Darkness of Sorrow
Keeping the Promise
Beyoncé, The President's Daughter
Mummy's Daughter
Slave to lust

In 2003, Vicker appeared in the Ghanaian television series, Suncity, which portrayed university life. He played the character of LeRoy King, Jr., a fine arts student born in the U.S. who arrives at Suncity to complete his education. The series ran for a total of 10 episodes.

Van in keeping the promise.

On February 17th, Van won Best Male Actor in a Movie role in Ghana Actor's Guild Award. He's had other nominations.

This pictures don't do him any justice whatsoever. Anyone know where I can get a good Van Vicker picture?

  8. if ghanaian movies are that bad, next time you see one - abeg walk past dont pick it up to watch it. Ghanaians dont need you to support their movies. Lately i'll watch my ghanaian movie over nigerian anyday. Tired of the constant poor sound and picture quality of naija movie, noise in background, music drowning sound, and same all story lines and not to talk about tired ass titles not related to movie. Ghanaian movie is something new, and they are coming up, so to you criticing - i say whatever. some Picture and sound quality of naija movies now is no different from "Glamour Girls" days 10 yrs ago, and at least, other foreigners can understand the ghanaian english tonation better (no nonsense broken english here and there) - NO FAKING ACCENTS. Thank you.

    sincerely
Jamaican Sista who Loves Ghanaians and their movies. I admire Van Vicker too, his acting may not be up to par, but i can watch him on "mute" for all i care - he is a beautiful sight to watch.

  9. u are very right my Jamaican sista, although i am not jamaican i thank u for ur support.........Nigerians think they are better than Ghanians but we are not the ones featured on world wide television (CRIMINALS) if u know wat i mean. i love my ghanian movies. for the ones dat don't like our movies, DO NOT WATCH THEM!!!!!!

  14. This pst Sunday I watched Beyonce- the president's daughter and let me tell you something, the brother is gorgeous Van Vicker that is. His acting skills need a little bit of polishing up and with time he will be an artist of excellence. I am South African and there is a market for movies from Ghana and Nigeria. Almost every house I have been to has watched a minimum of ten of these movies.

  15. Hi fellow Africans, why do we have too put down the other as we are one in the same. Ghanian, Nigeria, Malawian, Sudanese etc let us love each other and quit this nonsense. We fight amongst each other as Africans using any tools possible. I have had enough of having to bring up my daughter under such terrible circumstances. I have watched both Nigerian and Ghanian movies and I couldn't diffrentiate between the two as to from which country each movies was acted at.

  19. I am Nigerian but i do agree absolutely that Ghanaians produce movies that can rival or even beat our Nigerian movies anyday, from the few Ghanaian movies i have watched.Ghanaian movies feature better picture and sound quality, better eloquence and more logical storylines that do not tend to go overboard. For example the movie 'Beyonce' is the exact same storyline as one Ramsey Noah acted in a few years back but in which the story was never actually pursued to a logical conclusion as it was done in 'Beyonce'. I do think the nigerian movie industry can learn a thing or two from you and to Van vicker and Nadia Buari, ride on the sky is both your limits.

  21. oh please I have never seen a Jamaican who uses abeg and then goes ahead to diss broken english.lol. and why would you say "Lately i'll watch MY GHANIAN movie over nigerian anyday" if you are not a Ghaniaan. No need to lie about where are from there is nothing wrong in supporting your people. As for me, I think Ghanian movies used to suck but they are coming up, even though I can't say that are better than Nigerian movies yet. I mean if they were the Ghanians wouldn't have banned Nigerian movies at one point which means the Ghanians definately see them as tough competition. And now we are being called criminals because of movies please step away from the screen and stop taking things too personally. I mean they are just movies not life and death and people should have a right to their opinion after all not all Nigerians are criminals. Every country has criminals for God's sake. lol.

  22. I am ashamed of all u guys fighting over which side is better Nigerian or ghanian movies or who is finer van Vicker or ramsey Noah. this is the very reason why africans can neva be united. how many times have u seen british and american stars quarrel among themselves which actors are beta? van is kool no doubt but honestly he has a long way to go to meet up with ramsey. that does not mean that he cant make it to me. he is a good actor and very sexy but looks are not all that makes a star. Lets face it there is just so much hype about this 2 people cos they are of mixed blood. Are we now ashamed of our Original african looks? As for the movie industry, we should be proud that there is something good that africa can present to the whole world. ghana should stand the test of time like nigerian movies b4 we make the conclusion on which side is better. lets reopen this topic for discussion in like 5 years.

  27. Linda how tall is Van Vicker? Well ... he is a cutie pie. I like his acting skills, to me, he is getting there. (Wherever there is, anyway).

Ghanaian movies are quite good. They are refreshing from the usual Nollywood story lines. Their diction, that is, actor's eloquence, character portrayal, voice inflection are all typical examples of their being a change from the usual nollywood "bad grammar", pretty girl / fine boy getting roles based on "who they know", can't act, did they actually study their character??? ... before potrayal, styling (who the heck are their stlists?), make - up (some of the make - up are good, i mean some and not all; if u know what i mean?)

All n all Nollywood should stop tooting its horn and get down to business before Ghana becomes the hub of the movie industry where Black Africa is concernd.

    Thnx.

  28. As another Jamaican sista I do concur with all the comments about the fine brother Van Vicker. Personally all Ghananians guys I've met are foine. On campus there are lots of Africans but I am partial to the Ghananians they are extremely friendly and respectable. Two of my borrowed "brothers" on campus are from Ghana. I am so impressed I am thinking of moving to there. Are there move Van Vickers available?

  29. yesturday was my very first time watching an african film anf it was Beyonce..i honestley thought that was such a good movie! it had a great twist at the end! Van vicker is such a cutie pie. How old is he? how tall is he? is he married? when's his bday? is he really born in Ghana? lol someone please tell me

  30. Hey you guys, especially you Ghanians, I know from pass experience with friends from Ghana that all things great comes from Ghana, but honestly, Van Vickers is not a Ghanian. I'm sorry... He's half Liberian and half Lebenese. Van and his family repatriated to Ghana, like many other Liberians during the war in Liberia. I just got back from Liberian and Van was there over the holidays and publicly stated this as a fact! No Ghana... This one is not yours!!! Lol

  31. Van is most certainly fine. I must add that I started watching Ghanian movies just to see him. In the process I have gained an appreciation for Ghanian movies IN ADDITION to Nigerian films. Van's acting is nothing special and needs some fine tuning however as some other ppl stated, his looks make up for it. It was funny to see that I am not psycho for having felt a bit obsessed with him myself. LOL. I guess we are not as different as we would like to believe. Please stop the competition, unite and progress.

  40. people there is no need to argue on whether ghana or nigeria makes better movies. WE ARE ALL ONE!!! I'm haitian and I enjoy watching african movies. I like the fact that I can watch a movie with no cursing and nudity and am able to enjoy it with my family and friends. Africans have pointed out that people can make a good movie without using profanity. I love african movies and I will watch them any day over the ones we make here in the U.S. Whether its ghana or nigeria please keep up the good work. Much Love to you

  42. For me, there is nothing special about Van Vicker as an actor. He is so drab, lifeless and expressionless. The guy needs to go back to an acting school, he could do better. Van, pls try and put life in your roles, when you are angry, show it and stop behaving like an akamu(Pap). I would prefer Majid Micheal, he is cute, handsome, intelligent and delivers his roles perfectly. He is a better actor from Ghana. I love his personality and charisma. To me, it makes no difference whether Nigerians are doing better than Ghanians in movies or vice versa, what matters is that we are showing and selling our talents to the world. That shouldn't cause any quarell. I love them all, they are doing well.
