RELATIONSHIP QUESTION.

If you want to end a relationship with a long-time partner, how do you do it? What do you say without hurting their feelings?

Send me your thoughts!

  1. sit them down and just do it, be as compassionate as possible,.. there is no point prolonging the inevitable. Life is too short.

  2. Not possible, feelings will get hurt. Even the one doing the breaking up, unless you are heartless. Just be as considerate as possible do it face to face even if it takes a while. If angry wait to calm down think it thru and do it pleasantly with all your points clearly stated as to why you are doing it.
I could break up on the phone with someone if I can't deal any longer and am in a long distance relationship. But will still have a face to face closure when possible.
I hope this makes sense, lol

  3. Just tell him the truth.

Though you have to realize it's a process though or else you'll drop a bombshell. Remember you guys didn't get this close in a day so i think it's unfair to just drop the "Quit notice" like that.

This is how i do my own when i see it's not worth continuing...

I Let her know she doesn't need me and i don't need her. I start by saying "do you know what we need in life?"... GOD, fresh air, good health,a vision for life, water and shelter.

Every other thing or person, we can do without.(i repeat that at differnt times on different days)

I tell her gradually and get her to agree.Once she does, i plan to tell her 2days later that i'm tired and it'ain't gonna work.

On the D-day, in a friendly atmosphere, i extol her virtues and let her know she's a good person but....

this way i dont get to damage her self-esteem.

    nuff story!

    all the best linda.

  4. HURTING THAT PERSON IS INEVITABLE WHICH EVER WAY YOU DO IT EXCEPT IF HE/SHE HAD BEEN WAITING FOR THAT OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE ON TOO.

  5. Linda before I comment, pls tell me this doesn't concern you and/or Mr. F in any way?
Anyway, the best way would be a heart to heart discussion between both parties. The fact that you are breaking up should not make you enemies. Talk about why you don't think it'll work... and most importantly, say the truth and don't hide anything - if you want to remain friends. There's no way, both parties will feel some hurt... that can't be avoided.
I wish whoever is about to do this the best.

  11. It is hard, well it is better to stop a relationship u dnt feel anymore, dan u faking the relationship, all dis while. I think dats going to hurt more. Simple say sweet heart(u can also go by his/her first name) i really dnt feel this relationship anymore, or ur main reason for breaking up, nd tell the person , u love him/her enough to be saying dis, dat u dnt want to end up cheating on him/her, so it is better to let go now.
