Fashola signs law against abandonment of pregnant women

GOH! What kind of law is this? lol. I kinda like it tho...

Governor Babatunde Fashola yesterday, signed a bill into law, which allows for the prosecution and jailing of any man who impregnates and deserts any woman.

The bill presented to the governor by the state’s Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Mr. Ade Ipaye, at Government House, Ikeja, was among three other bills presented for the governor’s assent.

State Govt Ban 2-year rent in Lagos. Landlords who don't comply to be jailed

The long awaited Tenancy Bill was passed on Friday August 5, 2011 by the Lagos State House of Assembly and signed by Governor Fashola yesterday August 8, 2011.

The bill basically stipulates that it is unlawful and criminal for any landlord or his agent to demand or receive rent in excess of one year from a new tenant, and rent in excess of six months from a sitting tenant.

Any landlord who refuses to go by this law will be jailed for three years or pay a fine of N100,000.

What in the world is going on in London?

 

Violence erupted in broad daylight this afternoon as rioters surrounded police vans, looted lorries and targeted shops in a series of attacks across London.

Scores of police raced to Hackney as a mob of hooded youths began hurling missiles at the officers. There was also sporadic violence in nearby Dalston where shops and businesses were attacked and youths clashed with police and set fire to cars outside Lewisham Town Hall.

In Peckham Rye shops have been attacked, including Clarks and Primark, and buses are not currently running through Peckham and Lewisham. Other areas of London were braced for violence with workers barricading their shops in Stratford and Islington and barriers were erected outside Westfield Shopping Centre.

Veteran Nollywood actor and comedian, Sam Loco Efe is dead. The actor died today in his hotel room, Room 204, Rapour Hotel, Amakohia, along Orlu Road, Owerri, Imo State, shortly after returning from location. He was 71 years old. So sad! May his soul rest in peace...amen.

30 U.S. troops killed in helicopter crash

Insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan, killing 30 Americans, most of them belonging to the same elite Navy SEALs unit that killed Osama bin Laden, as well as seven Afghan commandos, U.S. officials said Saturday. It was the deadliest single loss for American forces in the decade-old war.

The downing was a stinging blow to the lauded, tight-knit SEAL Team 6, months after its crowning achievement. It was also a heavy setback for the U.S.-led coalition as it begins to draw down thousands of combat troops fighting what has become an increasingly costly and unpopular war.

None of the 22 SEAL personnel killed in the crash were part of the team that killed bin Laden in a May raid in Pakistan, but they belonged to the same unit. Their deployment in the raid in which the helicopter crashed would suggest that the target was a high-ranking insurgent figure. - Yahoo News

It is a known fact by now that there are issues on the forthcoming wedding of star actress Mercy Johnson. The man she plans to marry unknowing to her has a wife and two children. For the record, reliable sources close to mercy inform that Prince Odianose Okogie lied to Mercy that what she did with Lovely was a fake marriage for paper purposes and that he only had one child not two from Lovely.

Now events has revealed that all he told Mercy was a blatant lie. Because if the marriage was fake, why was he filing for divorce and on the divorce matter, it is so unfortunate that it was early this morning (Saturday) that Mercy got to know that there is a divorce case in a court of Law in Nigeria and that was after www.lindaikeji.blogspot.com had updated an earlier story it posted.

It was very funny to me, you know it's one of the things you face as an entertainer.

Ige was ‘unconsciously complicit' in the murder of M.K.O. Abiola - Al-Mustapha

Hamza Al-Mustapha who is standing trial for the murder of Kudirat Abiola, has named the late Bola Ige as having been 'unconsciously complicit' in the murder of M.K.O. Abiola.

Mr Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late head of state, Sani Abacha revealed this during the second day of cross examination by his lawyer Olalekan Ojo at the ongoing trial at the Ikeja High Court, Lagos.

According to the former CSO, "Bola Ige was appointed as the liaison officer to Abiola while he was in detention. His appointment was done after the federal government phased me out of the role."

Forgery Of Dollar Bills: U.S. Officials Confirm Active Bench Warrant For Imo Deputy Governor

A senior clerk at the District Court in Nassau County in New York has confirmed to SaharaReporters that a bench warrant issued by a district court judge with respect to current deputy governor of Imo State, Jude Ikechi Agbaso, remains valid and in force.

 According to the Court Officer, Mr. Agbaso faces arrest on felony charges related to currency fraud if he attempts to pass through any US Immigration post.

Investigations revealed that Mr. Agbaso jumped bail in 1994 after United States law enforcement authorities obtained his arrest in a forgery sting.
