The Lady (Pictured) has been trending on social media after
she shared pictures of herself taking to the streets of Port Harcourt to demand for a
Job. Her story was broadcasted via various media outlets and she has now
given an update, explaining the reasons that pushed her to be more
creative in her search for employment. What she wrote after the cut...
"BBC, The Cable, and others too numerous to mention have called to know more about my story and to get an exclusive interview. Nigeria!! it has to get to this. We have to air our dirty laundry for the whole world. I went to uniport they sent me back, I went to ust, they said who do u know?, I went to college of arts and science, they threw my application out. I went to different schools they said they will pay me 10k with my masters and my transportation monthly is more than that.
I have seen the comments, people telling me to acquire a skill, thank you.. I know you mean well but I did not decide to get a Masters degree to drop it and start making beads or sewing clothes. If we all acquire skills who will patronise who? who will teach our children? why don't we tell lawyers or doctors to pick up a skill when dey don't get jobs Everyone has a dream, has a passion, has their calling. My drive, my passion, my love is for lecturing. I can decide to do something and fail woefully cause that's not where I belong, please I am not looking for money, Some people said I am calling Buhari to give me NNpc job... If I am offered that I will turn it down! I have a focus! I know what I want. Go and tell my Governor that I am waiting for him, I voted for him, I am tired of staying at home, I want the job he promised us. I will be going to the government house tomorrow with my placard and I will invite different newsrooms. Governor Nyesom Wike!! Give me work! I want to lecture! I don't need big salary. . 80k is ok for me. Buhari you are my President I am waiting for you. # Desperatetime"

ReplyDeleteMy sister u are on the right track. Keep going until someone listens to you. Ignore all those ones asking you to go learn a trade while they are busy placing their children in CBN,NNPC etc. I wish you well.
ReplyDeleteJust do alternative for now as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!Tell them oh!! I am always saying this, everyone has a dream and passion and yes not everyone want to go into tailoring and other stuffs.Learn what stupid skills? After a masters degree then one should drop it and do otherwise.I hate it when people tell me that cos I know my worth.
ReplyDeleteThat is wat happens if wrong people are put in wrong places some of my lecturer's are not a bit good in communication and i Wonder who interviewed dis men for dis job not to talk of impacting knowledge to student
ReplyDeleteWay to go!
ReplyDeleteExactly she's so on point.
I'm just tired of this useless country.Even when u want to achieve your dream, you have to suffer and your dream might not even come true cos of the way our system work.Just imagine applying for pharmacy amd they end up giving you forestry and wild life.Something you dnt even have passion for. This is a failed nation.Nothing works here.I can't wait to leave this dead zone. All those fools telling you to acquire a skill should shut the fuck up.Be focused like u've always been and u ll get there.God bless

ReplyDeleteLIB ADDICT#just passing#
Tell her people like her are plenty and we don't have to use placards around.
ReplyDeleteBecause you may choose to suffer
DeleteEhn so people are plenty and she should siddon look like them abi? The way Nigerians dey siddon look as their country dey crumble. Abeggi.
DeleteBashir yahaya u cn relax at d comfort of ur home is all abt choice...

ReplyDeleteMessed up, shit ass, bitch ass failed country. This is now the new medium every unemployed nigerian will take to to get a job. Bullshit house we live in called Nigeria. This makes me sick......yuck!
ReplyDeleteIt's well
ReplyDeleteYass!! I support her #Gogirl
ReplyDeletehmmmm.... despirate time, despirate measures.
ReplyDeleteSCARFACE
Wish her all de best and pray she finds a better teaching job
ReplyDeleteHer drive and determination is soooo inspiring! She knows her worth and willing to fight for it! Strong woman!
ReplyDeleteI feel u my sister, no be everybody go go learn beads or make up. We all have our passions. Before u talk one dem don hala, go and learn a skill. Skill kor skillas ni!
ReplyDeleteNigeria don't encourage graduates to practice their field of study.I graduated as a Chemist by as i couldn't secure a job related to my discipline.Mehn I switch to another field.
ReplyDeleteShe is a fool.
ReplyDeleteYou think any university will employ her with all this show?
If she likes let her reject another type of work. Most lecturers worked in other places like civil service etc and professional firms before they became employed. You want to jump from masters to lecturing. It can never work that way.if she is a PhD student why is she still sitting st home as she said.
Stupid fool.
U r actually the fool. An advice for U, learn to count 1- 10 before making any statement at all, bcos it is obvious U don't think before U talk. Bigger fool
DeleteMay 21, 2016 @2:15 pm this your strategy cannot work men. You are still a fool for this your strategy of lecturing by force. Your comment is not based on objective reasoning. Compare it to mine which is based on sound argument. See you inside picture see your comment. Ode person. Lecture ko lecture ni.
DeleteI like ur courage cos i knw most girls can't do that.I pray ur governor gives u a job.
ReplyDeleteThis in my opinion is a self advising, self disciplined and determined lady, she has a good head on her shoulders. But lady, please do not ask for 80k, it wont be enough, wont go round your needs. To fill a small car's tank is about 15k as I write, check that out. With a Masters, you deserve a job of at least 200 to 300k.
ReplyDeletePlease email me on deeptel6@gmail.com
God will help her
ReplyDeleteYou should know there are job seekers that are by far more qualified than u. But if everyone chooses to carry placards it's going to look stupid
ReplyDeleteOver to you Wike(d) she said she vote for you and she's not demanding for too much just 80k pere
ReplyDeleteI pray you find what you are looking for
ReplyDeleteGo girl,it could be annoying when people tell u to start a trade not minding that I have an Msc,it,s not my passion, I want to impact through lecturing but for now,am in a private secondary school, though with a poor salary, everybody is not destined for boutique business, I pray u get drastic answer through this drastic measure
ReplyDeleteGod of Olajumoke will do her own too
ReplyDeleteThat's burning spirit and steadfasteness in action. There is undoubtedly light at the end of turnel for her.
ReplyDeletei like her. but for me, i cant carry placard. i will rather start with that 10k salary and on the course, proof myself that i am more than 10k. Hopefully someone will noticed me and take me higher. This actually happened to me. After graduating from higher institution, there was no job, i was frustrated to the extend that i decided to go and look for job at construction site (to go and carry pounpoun) (people that carry cement and blocks for the builder). Getting there, they told me there is no vacancy!!! can you imagine!!! i never give up. i started working as a warehouse worker and from there a branch cashier of another organisation and from there to a regional finance manager. That was my story and it worked out. Thank God!
ReplyDeleteThis lady's on fire lolzzzz. I like this slot, tell dem to live up to their campaign promises n fulfill dem, I wish they all get to c dis #shameonourleaders
ReplyDeleteDesperate time needs desperate action...lol. Good luck sis!
ReplyDeleteAunty Linda, post my comment biko. Wetin I do you na?
ReplyDeleteCHANGE MANIAC
I like your spirit
ReplyDeleteTHE KINGDOM SUFERET VOILENCE AND THE VOILENT ONES TAKET IT BY FORCE!!!!!!!! go baby and may God grant your heart desires...........
ReplyDeleteMake una dey there dey bad mouth her she is already already trending and very soon she will acheive her aim. Weldone lady, may God crown your effort with success IJN.
ReplyDeleteLol more to follow after the "Break"
ReplyDeleteHahahaha
May ur helper locate u IJN...
ReplyDeleteMy dear u are on point not everyone must learn sewing, bead making and all. It is so annoying in this terrible country. If u had done this placard thing in better countries, I know by now u would have gotten something but Nigeria's situation is so appalling @maunne
ReplyDeleteE don be naw. Lol.kai 9ja oooo.see suffer everywhere. U dey wait for wike abi?wike never drink brandy finish na to come dey listen to ur talk?my dear I like ur determination no doubt. But u gat to pick up ur pieces and make due with what you have left.which is go and open shop.lol
ReplyDeleteHHmmmm its well. Wld advice her to pls change her hairstyle since she wants to impact knowledge. It ll help in d packaging. Best of luck Dear, every body deserves a chance.
ReplyDeleteMay God Almighty touch d heart of our leaders every where to live up to their responsibilities instead of siphoning every kobo that enters govt purse. Ur determination have already lifted u high. It is a matter of time but never forget dis poor condition u found ur self now when u will be enjoying in high place.
ReplyDeleteGud
ReplyDeleteMy gurl I love your drive. I get your drifts. I am in full support of your activities. You dreams will never be dashed. God will promote, protect and provide for you. #despiratetimes
ReplyDeleteNo Bashir, people like her are not plenty. The majority are looking for work solely to make ends meet. Very few seek a career path despite setbacks and negative situations. How many people in their mid 20's have a passion for teaching, how many will turn down a job at NNPC? Lets not be myopic pls...
ReplyDeleteBold and beautiful, u can call her Bold queen!
ReplyDeleteLovely. Like her drive.
ReplyDeleteNow pple will say we are all in dat position ,she is not the first let me tell you she just made herself known n she will get a job
ReplyDeleteAbeg no be everybody won do skill
ReplyDeleteI love the part where she said "I did not decide to get a masters degree to drop it..."
ReplyDeleteIt is called taking a stand. You have to stand out to be noticed. I applaud her courage #SmartWoman

ReplyDeleteA commenter tells her that her kind are many in the society & consequently carry placard is unnecessary. I am sad that someone is actually mocking this lady. She has the discipline and focus to attain these educational heights and the society fails her, yet someone has the mind to mock her? I shall refrain from calling anyone names or hauling insults, but I am sorely tempted. Common sense, indeed, is not common.
ReplyDeleteMy dear sister, please remain positive and resourceful.
May the Almighty father bless this lady a million times more than she so desires. I like it when women with courage speak. Keep inspiring the world dear. Jah is solidly behind you
ReplyDeleteLol that is the spirit.
ReplyDeleteWith the way her picture has gone viral, I won't be surprised if professorships start pouring in from the international arena.
ReplyDeleteMark my words, this woman and her family will soon become citizens of Canada, or some other western country.
Some Nigerian politicians will open mouth and complain/lecture on Brain Drain. Why haven't one of you stepped up to use your connections to get this woman employed??
***Lush
God help us
ReplyDeleteso if they give you nnpc job,u will still sit down at home?#sorrycase#
ReplyDeleteLov u gal... Nne tinye dis comment inugo
ReplyDeleteNne, with matters degree you should not be lecturing college students. Even in America you are not offered a position to teach students express your degrees is in s professional field like IT, MBA fields, etc. That is why you can't find work. You are looking for more than a guest lecturer for a day position and you are not sufficiently credentialed. But I admire your bravado. You know you just sunk your ship in that dead place called rivers state by suggesting nepotism rules in those schools?

ReplyDeleteThis lady is crying for a teaching position ....a job most people consider a waste of their time, a job many do not want because teachers are generally looked down upon in this society and consequently, the profession( which should) unfortunately fails to attract some of our brightest minds, yet people come here to malign her. Yet we complain when our children have poor grades at school.
ReplyDeleteBashir Yahaya, it will be a tragedy if someone with your intellect ends up as a teacher.
That's a good ideal, let them keep to their promise.fear nothing,be strong n remain focused. Don't listen to side talks because some of them out there can not even have such courage to come out open to say that they are looking for a job with a definition because they can not defend their certificate to talk more of be bold enough. I wish you luck n I pray God to be with you in your quest to have better life in your mother land.
ReplyDeleteEuropeans did dis in the 19s using placard to get a job
ReplyDeletefor the driven force she has in her i believe shes smart but the country's current situation call for urgent okiki ariwo ise logunise oooooo
ReplyDelete
