NNPC reorganised, not unbundled – Kachikwu says

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu, says the oil corporation is only being reorganized and not unbundled. He said this while speaking with State House Correspondence after the Federal Executive Council meeting today March 9th.

"We have not unbundled NNPC. We had a press conference yesterday where I explained this. What we have simply done is reorganisation. We have five business entities focus on business: Upstream, Downstream, Refineries, Gas and Power that are there before. There is also Ventures that captures all our little companies that were not having proper stewardship. They are run by individuals who report to the GMD. The NNPC is still a whole. There is nothing new that has happened. I have tried to explain this and I am sure the NNPC workers are members of the family, they will understand. We are going to have a meeting, and they will be made to understand. Perhaps the engagement has not been good enough. NNPC has not been unbundled in the sense of breaking up NNPC into distinct institutions. I am concerned. I don’t want the industry shut down. I am sure we are going to resolve the issues very soon,” he said

  6. That fact that every statement by this administration has to be explained, clarfied or broken down several times says alot about the transparency of the ruling party.
They are constantly trying to enact laws or institute questionable policies and procedures. Then turn around and say its something else when they are called out on it.
This is a trait of liars and cheats that looks for ways to deceive people.

  19. BUHARI IS THE BEST PRESIDENT FOR NIGERIA. NIGERIANS NEED IRON HAND TO CHANGE, NIGERIANS ARE LIKE BABIES CRYING FOR FOR FOOD, DIPERS AND TO CLEAN THEIR MESS.THEY CANT WAIT FOR THE FOOD TO GET DONE CRYING THEY ARE HUNGRY. THIS PRESIDENT IS NOT PERFECT AND HAS BEEN SO REAL TO TELL US THINGS AS THEY ARE, BUT NIGERIANS KEEP WAILING AS IF THEY HAD IT PERFECT IN LAST 16 YRS.NIGERIANS ARE NOT FUTURISTIC IN THEIR THINKING TO SEE THAT THIS PRESIDENTS POLICIES WILL MAKE NIGERIA BETTER FOR OUR CHILDREN INSTEAD THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT NOW. I REPEAT IN THE END BUHARI WILL LAUGH LAST AND ALL HIS CRITICS WILL BE ASHAMED. GOD BLESS BUHARI. GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

    1. I'm glad we have some progressive thinkers in Nigeria like you, everything you mentioned is true. I mean most of this people writing negative and hateful comments don't even understand the issues at hand, if they are tired of living in Nigeria they can easily go and seek asylum outside simple. What we need in Nigeria are people who are ready to give there all

  20. I'm pretty sure if the nnpc workers didn't go on a nationwide strike and the National Assembly didnt say anything regarding this issue most of the people talking rubbish wouldn't say anything, I mean why most people behave like sheeps, if they had praised this action from the minister in sure most of the people talking would also follow and praise even without knowing anything about it. Go and read and find out about it before spilling bile everywhere, I'm sure people are feeding off on what their favorite politicians said about this issue. Please us Nigerian youths need to be more proactive in research and finding out what each policies really mean

  22. NNPC needs to be dismantled completely, sold to private companies.the government SHOULD NOT run business;they should simply collect taxes. Can you imagine where we would have been if we still had to line up at public phone booths to make calls? That was because that unweildy NITEL was sold.Wake up people.Sentiment is our major killer.
