FG suspends PTAD DG over claims of her receiving N50m monthly salary and allowances

The Director General of the Pension Transition Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Nellie Mayshak, has been placed on indefinite suspension and is being investigated after it was discovered that she allegedly received N50 million monthly in salary plus other allowances.

According to The Sun, the discovery was made possible via the Bank Verification Number (BVN) which the CBN used to trace the money being paid to her account every month.

According to the Finance minister’s Special Adviser on Media, Festus Akanbi,
“it is normal within civil service procedure to allow the DG to proceed on indefinite suspension pending when the investigation on the matter is concluded.”
PTAD was set up to take care of workers who retired on or before June 30, 2007 under the pay-as-you-go system. Myashak is the pioneer director general of the agency.

Those who are serviced by the agency include the police, customs, immigration, civil servants, para-military and other parastatals.

It was established in August 2013 in compliance with the provisions of section 30 sub-section (2) (a) of the Pension Reform Act (PRA) of 2004 (amended in 2014) which stipulated the establishment of an independent pension department for the public service of the federation.

  5. Jeeez! And some graduates can't even boast of 50k as monthly salary with all the burning of midnight oil in school, the drinking of garri to survive, the many exams that can cause fever, the unheld lectures after trekking KMs.Kai this is so unfair.
Why are people this selfish? Thank God for BVN, many criminals will be uncovered.Suspension isn't enough, if she's found guilty, she should be behind bars

  15. I thought other reports said it was N60m monthly. Government needs to check salaries of public servants working in parastatals, when you hear the millions they earn in non-taxable allowances, it's mind boggling. Governemnt salaries shouldn't be this high, it's the private sector, where they generate business and share bonuses that should get this kind of money.

  16. Serves her right. Baba needs to fish out all the Staff in PTAD that works with scammers to defraud innocent pensioners. They use details submitted by these pensioners to defraud them. My prayer is that anybody involved in defrauding an old pensioner will not live long. The person will die a shameful death. Nigerian's should open their eyes because PTAD is full of SCAMMERS.

  25. Like seriously, we don't need a law court for cases like this. Firing squad straight. Haba this is outright wickedness & greed. Since she willingly chose not to obey the law, she has lost the priviledge to demand for any human right

  26. 50M for just one person, isn't this too much? Yet we claim there is no money in this country. What impact has she on the economy as a whole to justify the 50m monthly salary/allowance. #SMH#

  30. Wait a minute. A fundamental question. Who decides the salaries and allowances of DG''s. Do DGS now decide their own salaries and allowances. From what we have been reading about this woman, she has been able to transform and brought some air of relief to police pensioners, saving a lot of money for the got by eliminating ghost pensioners through the introduction of the biometric captures. Hope this is not a case of giving a dog a bad name by hanging it. This is not to say if found guilty she shouldn't be made accountable.

  31. Jude I so agree with you. It's sad that someone will serve diligently in another man's land but returns to his or her father's land and begins to steal. Even if you met your father's house dirty as a good child what you do is help to clean it up and not to add to the mess. I seriously hope that our people will start doing the right and not to always join the band wagon that is how we can truly make a change.

  35. KAI!!! But Nigerians are VERY Gullible THOUGH!!!

How can anyone really believe someone who works for a parastatal under the FG can be PAID N50M a month by the SAME FG???

Parastatals get paid their money just like civil servant. ALL SALARIES are approved by many agencies including National Salary Income Wages COmmission, Budget Office and the Office of the Accountant General. DO YOU REALLY THINK ANY OF THEM WOULD BE paying this amount out EVERY MONTH??

Please fellow Nigerias - think before you start talking about something you have no idea about!!

BUT - If this woman stole money from her office - which is a different matter - then may God Judge her o. Pensioners story in Nigeria is getting too sad abeg.

  36. N600m per annum is a fair compensation for an Executive at that level. If that is her negotiated pay then she can sue the FG for defamation of character. How much do her contemporaries earn in IMF, AFC, IFC, JP Morgan etc. Nigerians just like to dance to senseless propaganda.
It is better to earn N600m and not loot; than earn N10m and loot $2.1b.
    Stupid Nigerians all around.
