Read their press statement below...
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describes as “a deceptive window-dressing to hoodwink unsuspecting Nigerians” the release, by an aide of the President, of a mere list of some belongings of President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, in place of the pledge made to Nigerians by Mr. President as candidate of the APC on March 18, 2015, at exactly 5 pm.
The party recalled that the President in
his own words had stated to Nigerians that, “I pledge to publicly
declare my assets and liability and also encourage my political
appointees to publicly declare their assets and liability.”
The PDP however, observed that President
Buhari and his vice failed to produce copies of their declarations,
detailing the exact nature and value of respective assets.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief
Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Friday said “the release of a mere list
of belongings falls short of credibility, transparency and
anti-corruption standards as well as exposes the proclivity of the
present administration for deception.”
“We have noted the release of a flimsy
list of belongings of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi
Osinbajo by the Presidency, who want such to pass as the public
declaration of assets as pledged by the President.
“Nigerians are not deceived by this poor
attempt at window-dressing designed by the Presidency to hoodwink the
unsuspecting populace in a desperate bid to shore up its diminished
image.
“We ask, is the resort to a mere list,
instead of true copies of the declaration not a ploy to give the
Presidency a window for denial in consonance with their widely observed
inclination for flip flopping, backtracking and brazen denials of their
statements and actions?
“All we want is credibility, integrity
and sincerity of purpose. We are not questioning how a President, who by
December last year, declared that he had only N1 million in his
account, could suddenly now list N30 million in the same bank account by
May 29, and after an expensive campaign; we are not yet demanding the
public declaration of his assets in his wife’s name.
“We are not even applauding the
multiplication of his cows from 150 to 250 in a space of three months,
arising from his dual and conflicting pronouncements on this issue
“What the PDP and discerning Nigerians demand is for Mr. President to always stand by his words and pledge.
“Mr. President, this is a mere list of
your belongings and not public declaration of assets in fulfillment of
your covenant with Nigerians”
Signed:
Chief Olisa Metuh

ReplyDeleteMost times when we walk into big malls, boutiques, supermarkets, we never question their prices. We pay exactly what we see on the price tags and even hand out tips to the staff.
DeleteBut the moment we are out of these shops and want to buy banana, our bargaining game gets off to the roof. Poor widow with 12 hungry children at home tells you banana is N100. She even takes out her time to explain how difficult it was for her to even buy it, how the economy is so tough.
But we insist that if it's not N50, we are not paying. Some of us even step back into our cars and make to drive away. But because 'half bread is better chin chin', this woman is forced to call you back and sell to you at little or no gain. In her heart, she cries, she's worried about how she'll survive with her children. She silently reassures herself that 'It's well.
God will definitely provide.'' While you happily chop the luscious banana. Take some seconds out and think about this, guys. Please don't bargain hard with small vendors like this. They do business not to buy designer bags, Gucci shoes but to LIVE and EAT!

I just wonder how Nigerians reason. PDP is not good but this one is about APC being different from PDP than deceiving Nigerians. Again, I wonder why Nigerians news houses are reporting only 30 million, why international cable news like CCN and Arise news etc are reporting 150 million. Which one should we believe. Lairs!

ReplyDeleteU know this buhari man doesn't really owe us anything yet he has gone this far to prove his integrity, even slashing his salary by half. He didn't have to keep these promises, after all he wouldn't be the first one to promise heaven and earth and then do nothing on taking the seat. Why go through this much effort just to deceive Us? It's not like he needs our trust to steal from us. Abacha and some others that were there before him who stole like it was a hobby are perfect examples.
ReplyDeleteHow can you all foolishly close you eyes to the truth. Isn't wsat he said the truth? I remember the president saying he had only one million naira, wia d hell dis he get 29 million fron in d space of three months? Don't get me wrong ooo I jsut don't understand why he will accuse someone of wat he does too. He lied and we all know dat all liars are cheat or should I say CHEATERS. Open your eyes Nigerians. Don't tink Buhari is d messaih you all are waiting for to come change Nigeria. I simply can't trust a man who cants keep to his words. Shekena
ReplyDeleteDon't make promises you can't keep old man.
ReplyDeleteGood evening Sir,
ReplyDeleteI hope this message gets to you, and that it does so in time as I still believe there is room for redirection in your strides towards being a robust opposition voice.
Firstly, I want to say that your name is fast becoming associated with so many jokes that I wonder whose side you are playing on, could it be that you are intentionally doing this to further bring down the PDP? Or do you genuinely believe in your heart that this is the way an opposition party should be run?
In recent times, you have been called many names, with the most used being "wailing wailer". Are you aware of this? Or does your disconnection from reality know no bounds? I do believe, again, that you are better than what is being portrayed today. For goodness sakes, you did not achieve the level you are today by not being intelligent; unless I am complete wrong. Pls prove me wrong.
The aim of my write up today is to advise you to take it easy on your rants. It seems everyday, you seek what Buhari has done or has not done and then you chose the exact opposite and castigate him with that. I don't want to give examples as I'm sure anyone who can read or have a discussion in Nigeria knows what I mean. May I remind you that it is loose and unguarded statements such as these you make today that causes the PDP the last presidential elections. Need I remind you that many would have voted for PDP or at least believed in your party had the likes of Doyin, Femi Kayode, and lastly Madam Patience just kept their mouths shut and not come up with baseless accusations against Buhari and the APC? Have you not learnt anything from your very recent defeat?
In any sport or war, he who loses goes back to study the tactic of the person who won so that when next they meet, he can perform better. Isn't it time you studied the tactic Buhari has used to obliterate you, and modify your attacks to better match his? Through out all the years Buhari contested and lost elections against your party, no one heard him making any false or baseless accusations on a daily basis against the PDP, all he did was put his facts right on areas you have indeed failed, so when the next election comes, when it matters most, he would present it to the electorate and convince them that he is a better candidate. Don't you see that he is a man that speaks little, and speaks only when it matters. Despite all the jargons you have spewed about him in the past months, have you not noticed that he has not even given you the honor as to respond to you?
I can go on and on about this, but because I believe you have got my point I will stop here. All I ask is, give Buhari the opportunity to try and when he starts failing, I mean really failing, then you can, with facts and figures come after him in a very calculated and constructive manner. Then your voice will be that of wisdom.
Secondly, we will not call you a weakling if you decide to keep quiet and watch what Buhari is doing to see what he intends to achieve. I do believe 3months is too short a time for you to judge the man. PDP held sway for 16years, and in all those years look at where Nigeria is, we cannot even treat a simple concussion for a high level politician who claims to have built a world class hospital in the country. Instead for a simple injury, which is not life threatening, he is flown abroad. Does that not speak volumes of what our great country has been reduced to.
Pls give Buhari and his team sufficient time to let us know where they intend to take us to, after about 2yrs of ruling, then you can speak up and give a report , so for the next 2yrs, he will try to address the issues you have raised, and where he fails, we, the electorate will vote him out as we did the PDP, and give someone else a chance.
In the end, all that matters is our great country Nigeria and not the PDP or APC or any other party. If he fails, we all fail, so best we offer support and give him a chance to succeed.
A word is enough....
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Craig Motoman
But you know you just wasted part of your life writing this crap. You might be an APC supporter or a fan of buhari but that doesn't mean you should let lies blindfold you. don't be that ignorant, a lot of lies has been told and are beginning to unfold. Don't act like you didn't hear campaign promises, no one forced him to promise them. Secondly up till date the funds that were looted when he was the ptf chairman are unaccounted for, isn't that corruption also?
DeleteOrubebe do em own go this idiot is still exposing his stupidity every moment. I can never own up if am related 2 dis un intelligent moron, even if he is my broda.
ReplyDeleteAll you people na Robbers, both PDP.
ReplyDeleteMr Metuh is staying very busy indeed, keeping them on their toes, we await a 'robust rejoinder'.
ReplyDeleteGood people of LIB kindly visit my blog, gracias.
Why all the hating here. THE PDP RAISED A VALID ISSUE. We are a democracy and there is a process for declaration of assets. This process was not complied with, simple. The public needs to see the form filled at the CCB just like Yar Adua showed us. The PDP is an opposition party and its healthy for democracy what they are raising. This winner takes all mentality in Nigeria is annoying. Even the commenters here don't know the difference. Ignorance is a disease. The presidents statements before and after elections are not consistent. This raises issues for determination. Before the elections, he said he did not own a house in Abuja, but now he has a house in Abuja. Why did he not correct the media and campaigners who were peddling this staple for a gullible populace? Many other things that could be questioned. What about the assets of his wife (wives)?
ReplyDeleteThank God people like you still exists cos it seems most people that comment on this blog have short term memories. PMB hasn't been consistent with what he says, during the election the lies are beginning to unfold
DeleteWhat is asset my ppl ,showing how much u r worth n they did so pdp they go calculate their worth n help them declare it in figure.
ReplyDeleteCan this noise maker go and sit down somewhere? Didn't Jonah claim that he didn't "give a damn" when it was his own turn? Now Baba has put them to shame and they still have mouth. Mschewww! Rubbish and nonsense!
ReplyDeleteJonathan didn't declare his assets publicly. When the press asked him he said, I don't give a damn. PMB knows what is right and he's doing just that. Metu , pls note that you are professional and meaningful only when your criticism is constructive. Thumbs up PMB and professor osinbajo .

ReplyDeletePDP, APC what's the difference? Buhari. There's nothing wrong with the container, just the content Is what we should worry ourselves with. If Mr. President stands firm and lead this country right, I believe we would be better for it. But if he allows the likes of Mr. TINUBU, ATIKU, OBJ, BABAGIDA, ADAMS O. AND AMEACHI dictates to him, then we would remain stagnant
ReplyDeleteThat list is weak. It discloses nothing and can only please idiots.
ReplyDeleteThis Olisah Metu seller always talking rubbish as usual. Did Jonathan declare his assets after he left office? Ms chew! !!!Biko, go Siddon jot make we hear word. Come up with something better. You don fail. Mumu.
ReplyDeleteHe even tried to declare something lets beg baba Jona to declare 10% of his asset .
ReplyDeleteI don't know why some Nigerians are easily taken in by the fake attempt by Buhari and his vice to appear holier than thou. What they have presented as asset declaration is a sham to be believed by only fools and horses. If you want to properly declare your assets, you state the addresses and value of the houses you own, the quantity and value of shares you own in companies, the types and values of cars you own etc.
ReplyDeleteThe law only requires them to do the usual code of conduct nonsense but if they pledge to take it a step further, it should be done properly and not attempt to take us for a ride. What impunity!
As for the Aboki I can see through him, but Osinbajo remember you're a pastor, don't get sucked into the murky world of politricks. I rest my case.
Yes we all know that's not all his belongings but could PDP give nigerians a breathing space.Una regime don pass so make we go sit down n stop troubling us.PDP past rulers should be worried about the probe issue n go and answer for theirselves.nonsense.
ReplyDeleteP.S.
If you know dat girl "juliet iwano" pls ask her why she dey paste her comment thrice and why is she always saying "linda take note" abi dem break her head?
Well, am not a fan of any but I second oilsa metu, bu PMB said during elections dat he had 1m in Acct nd 150 cows...was it in deposit Acct dat it generated such interest of millions by now? so where did d extra 100 cows come frm....ok d old ones gave birth...I see. Has PMB forgotten dat 95% of Nigerians still remember his speech word for word once he declared he wanted to run for the office of d pres...nd dey ll always b reminding him once dey notice any foul play????

ReplyDeletePDP is fast evolving into a formidable opposition and that is very HEALTHY for our democracy. This is a very OBJECTIVE and CRITICL insight into the politics and intrigues of asset declaration'. PDP has raised very KEY questions that cannot be ignored. Fighting corruption is not a pepper soup affair.

ReplyDeleteParty people allow us to think strait Buhari is now the president of Nigeria and not that of a party alone. But I'm concerned it too them three months to come up with this list which suggest a lot of modification
ReplyDeletePle keep GEJ out of this, Buhari promided to declare his asset publicly and GEJ did not. If a father promise to buy a car for his son after graduation and another did not, it is expected that such a father is bound by his promise while the other is not. Public Asset declaration is becoming an issue because Buhari made the promise

ReplyDeleteUseless Pdp evil corrupt fools.Leave my Buhari for me,see the light we are enjoying and all the good things the man is doing is to come and talk about cows, you are a mentally unstable man this Olisa man,Rubbish.Which one did your so called Jonah without shows declare,Corrupt fools.U am so angry right now.instead of you to clap for the man,if it's some people they will even declare more than what they have so they can have capacity to steal, can you imagine what a past president and minister is declaring that he owns?it just shows you how morally upright this Man is,I admire you Mr President
ReplyDeleteYes, PDP fire back, Buhari tell us the truth you and that short osibanjo abi osimbode evn your oga doesn't know your name. Lol
ReplyDeleteMetuh does not have any moral, spiritual and even social right to issue a comment on this matter. He should look back just a few years and tell us how the PDP led by example most especially during their tenure. He must not poke his nose into everything the presidency does. By the way, if he wants to challenge it,he should wait till the verification is over then he can run his mouth if he finds any discrepancies
ReplyDeleteI so much love what's happening in our polity, the check and balancing will really make APC work effectively just to prove PDP wrong. But still those are not buhari's real assets!
ReplyDeleteMetuh is right. What is the value of the shares in various companies that the VP has? They should photocopy the signed declarations and publish them like Yar'adua. And I really hate it when some people always point to GEJ as a point of same level comparison. PMB is supposed to be BETTER than Jonathan. If he is the same or only slightly better, is that really what we voted and wanted?
ReplyDeleteWat do. Want to know has publicly declaration of asset stop the corrupt not avoid corruption
ReplyDeleteA promise is a debt...Buhari should declare his assets...in trying to make the previous administration look terrible u made promises without giving it a thought for a second...nw Nigerian's would be like...pdp let Buhari be..dt would not happen...u can eat cake and still v it...2 mud houses..really? And several cars...wow...conflicting or should i say contradictory...
ReplyDeleteWell, in as much as I refrain myself from throwing insults online, I think the wailing wailers are suffering from memory loss. Someone didn't give a damn about this issue during his own time. Were you stone dead then?
ReplyDeleteIshhh
ReplyDelete@Metu,
ReplyDeleteplz give it up already..ur parry is no d opposition, join d winning parry or stfu mbok!
PDP needs to wake up and get used to being Opposition. Let this president deliver on his promises. We dnt need their diversion
ReplyDeleteUnfortunalty enough PDP are sayin d truth, the declaration is a window dressing, they need come clean and allow CCB publish it to the public and not Garba Shehu giving us d report!
ReplyDeleteThese pple should go and look for job, seems they are jobless. Remember you have done your own tenor and nothing to write home about. Abeg enough of daily story we want GMB like that his our President.
ReplyDeletePDP should shut the "F" up. Did any of these wailing wailers declare anything? Such a weak opposition! what have they done to Nigeria in 16 yrs! its so sickening seeing such report from them cuz they lack integrity! Old fools
ReplyDeletePDP MEMBERS PLEASE GO BACK AND DO YOUR HOME WORK
ReplyDeleteSTOP INSULTING THE PRESIDENT LET THEM BEING
PLEASE LET JONA AND HIS WIFE COME OUT AND DECLARE THEIR ASSEST,IF YOU PDP MEMBERS WILL NOT DRINK POISON.
PATIENCE JONA HAD AIRLINE NEW PLANES ABOUT 20 AND MANY OTHER THINGS
PLEASE LET SAI BABA REST JOOR
GOD BLESS NIGERIA
To imagine the audacity!!! Wow! What do PDP take us for? Did any of their Presidents declared theirs?
ReplyDeleteThey should just keep quiet, or some of us will open their 'yash'.(by sharing the covert a/c details of these people both home and abroad)
APC and their usual deceit. They should declare their assets properly and publicly.. If not at the end of 4 years when they clean out the treasury they will deny in their usual way
ReplyDeleteWhat's the fuss about? To who's advantage is it for the presidency to under-value it assets? When they leave office we will compare their worth then to now. With what Buhari as declared He's telling us that He cannot in four years tell you that He's worth 200million unless he has stolen it. Unlike when people will declare properties that does not exist because they want to steal the country.
ReplyDeleteDo not say things you do not mean, Buhari we need documents that's all, ur assets have surprisingly made you a rich man, I rem u said you're a poor man with no money to run for elections. Some stage managed people were donation to your campaign.
ReplyDelete@ STERN or whatever you call yourself...seems like you really possess very low intelligence. All you ever try to do is bash PMB with stupid words and support the Olisa Metu simply because he's from the south. I'm also from the south and this aint meant to diss you but I think you're a real dumbass and blockhead
ReplyDeleteTheir assets mean nothing to us..... Na who them help?
ReplyDeleteNa so
ReplyDeleteAtleast they declared an asset unlike jona who said he doesn't give a damn.
ReplyDeletePeoples don't satisfied in matters what you do. God will helps this nation
ReplyDeleteY cant pdp borrow sense, instead of dem to join the present government and move Nigeria forward, they are der looking for pitholes..The earlier we realise this country is ours and no one will save it except us, the better.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I wonder why these PDP people will not leave our president alone. We cannot forget so quickly the " I dont give a hoot parlance" of yesteryears. Please, Mr. Olisa or what do you call yourself, leave PMB alone!
ReplyDeleteU all are same wada apc or pdp or whatever.....politics remain
ReplyDeleteWeda una gree or not the man is saying the truth
ReplyDeleteI am not wowed by buhari's assets coz I don't expect a man who attempted 3 elections and failed to still have much. It wld b absolute foolishness to compare his assets with that of GEJ who ascended the same seat from notable positions
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with you people telling Metuh to shut up, do you people have short term memories? Have you forgotten PMB said he didn't have money to purchase the presidential form? Have you forgotten the student that donated 10,000naira to his campaign? He won the election with lies and that's how pdp started also. Open your eyes, you voted for him but that doesn't mean you should support both the wrong things he does. Better be wise.
ReplyDeleteBuhari's Asset Declaration is Fraudulently Vague
ReplyDeleteBy Barrister Kayode Ajulo
The alleged asset declaration by President Mohammadu Buhari and his Vice Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as presented by his media aide is apparently fraudulent not only to hoodwink Nigerians but to further use same to cover serial violations of their covenant with Nigerians. For clarity, integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
Asset declaration must be done in prescribed form with particulars to ensure clarity and certainty, what is declared is vague, in bad faith and totally unacceptable.
Particulars and full description of the asset has to be given for proper identification and verification.
It is also incomplete as the spouses of the two politicians did not declare theirs with their husbands, it is the law that where any spouse of the declarant is not a civil servant/public servant such spouse should make the declaration with the better half.
Buhari team should go one step further by making their assets truly public with sincerity of purpose; and it is pretty much simple.
Late President Umaru Yaradua once publicly declared his asset in prescribed form and same was published to the satisfaction of all. President Buhari and company should take a cue from the late President.
Doing this, President Buhari would at least have fulfilled one of his campaign promises in a most decent and honest manner.
Nigerians want to trust their leaders, the trust must be earned, they should have nothing to hide and I have nothing personal against them save that we should ensure that our word is our bond and giving no room for second-guessing.
When it comes to transparency, President Buhari should not be ordinary; these are extraordinary times in Nigeria.
The very first job of a leader is to inspire trust. Trust is the single most essential element to our ability to deliver extraordinary results in an enduring way. Trust is integral to building high-performance, good and excellent governance because it enables a nation to work as it should; it’s the first defense against dysfunction and the first step towards delivering better outcomes.
As we endeavor to improve on our leadership qualities, we are inspired by the thought leadership of others who also revere building trust as a critical mission.
God bless Nigeria.
