16yr old girl who was stabbed at Jerusalem Gay Pride dies from her wounds

Israeli high school student, Shira Banki, 16, (left and the one in green with the knife in her back) was one of six people stabbed by ultra-orthodox jew Yishai Shlissel during a gay pride march in Jerusalem on Thursday July 30th. (read previous story here). She died today at Hadassah hospital from injuries sustained during the attack. She wasn't gay...she went to the march in support of her LGBT friends. Sad

 
In a statement her family said: 
'Our magical Shira was murdered because she was a happy 16-year-old – full of life and love – who came to express her support for her friends' rights to live as they choose. For no good reason and because of evil, stupidity and negligence, the life of our beautiful flower was cut short. Bad things happen to good people, and a very bad thing happened to our amazing girl. 
'The family expresses hope for a less hatred and more tolerance.' The family requests the public respect their privacy as they grieve. We won't permit the terrible murderer to challenge the basic values on which Israeli society is built.' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement after sending his condolences to the family.
'We reject with disgust any attempt to impose hatred and violence among us and will bring the murderer to justice. Shira was murdered because she bravely supported the principle that everyone has the right to live their lives respectfully and with security.'
Candlelight vigils held tonight in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in memory of Shira.

Of the remaining five people wounded in the attack two are still in hospital in a serious condition, while three others have been released from hospital.

      Which sin is greater? Murder or homosexuality? Ask yourself if you deserve to live amongst human beings who have done nothing to you but chose to live a different life from you. From your comment it is evident you are afraid of homosexuals because I don't understand the hatred. I'm not gay but I'm comfortable with my sexuality as a heterosual woman and gay people don't bother me. I don't approve of their lifestyle but I just choose to ignore them and I'd advise you learn to do the same too. I'd rather have 10000 gay friends than have someone like you as a friend.       @Michael, don't be naive. Israel might be the root of christianity, but not necessarily a model to christianity. Jesus is the model, and if He abhors homosexuality, then homosexuality is abominable irrespective of who accepts it into their constitution. Calling homosexuality a sin is putting it mildly, it is an ABOMINATION before God as clearly spelt out in the bible.

      To know that even those who brought me into this world would rather I not exist, because of their selfishness, is the worse pain. So many good people I know have died or fallen into despair, because people fail to look outside of themselves for a moment and imagine the pain and suffering gay people must suffer from every quarter. For myself, I am grateful that I know to love myself with all my flaws and shortcomings. For how ever long or short the life given to me is, I will be grateful and try to make a difference. I just hurt for those who may never get the chance, those who cause their pain and those who know no better.

      Life is a beautiful gift. Beauty is expressed in all our diversity. If you can take a moment to see beauty in even the most unusual of things, you will begin to find it within yourself.

      With all the hate in the world, inspite of it, I am no longer ashamed to say "I love you stranger, welcome and be at peace".

      I believe Jesus would be distressed at how vicious and heartless we are to our neighbors. But then again, he was murdered for being different, for preaching brotherly love.

      There is no sin in homosexuality. People need to separate sex from love, sex, even between heterosexuals is humiliating at times, it is filled with regret, it is painful when the fruits of it, pushes a woman into labor, it is an aspect of our humanity, but love, of anything, our families or even a dear friend or out favorite movie, is an expression of the purest and most admirable characteristic of mankind.

      If you let a tiny bit of hate into your mind, it will corrupt all that is good within you. Don't let the devil lie to you and deceive you that it is God's will for you to ever hate.

      Love even those who hate you.
