I headed a military that lacked equipment- ex Chief of Defence staff, Badeh says

Immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, who alongside other service chiefs, was sacked by Buhari on July 13, said while he was in office, he headed a military that lacked equipment. He said this during his handing over ceremony to the new chief of Defence staff, Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin in Abuja;
"The task of coordinating the military and other security agencies in the fight against the insurgents is perhaps the most complex and challenging assignment I have had in my over 38 years in service. For the first time, I was head of a military that lacked the relevant equipment and motivation to fight an enemy that was invisible and embedded with the local populace.
Furthermore, the activities of fifth columnists in the military and other security agencies who leaked operational plans and other sensitive military information to the terrorist, combined to make the fight against the insurgents particularly difficult. The activities of these unpatriotic members of the military not only blunted the effectiveness of the fight, but also led to the needless deaths of numerous officers and men who unwittingly fell into ambushes prepared by terrorists who had advance warnings of the approach of such troops. The decision by certain countries to deny us weapons to prosecute the war also added to the challenges we faced. Despite these challenges, I am glad to note that a lot was achieved during our time in the fight against terror. The achievements recorded are largely due to the commitment, patriotism and fighting spirit of our men and women in uniform who saw the fight against terror as a task that must be accomplished no matter the odds and inspite of the campaign of calumny against the military by a section of the media with their foreign collaborators.”he said

  36. D-PinPointer Says: If you had instilled discipline on your officers and had them respect human rights ,and let them realize that irrespective of the fact that they carry guns, they owe loyalty to the the civilian population who are their superiors, maybe other nations would have supplied them with the needed equipment. So go and rest, you are a failure.

  42. BULLSHIT!! Go feed your family with that rubbish. You headed a military that lacked equipment because all military leaders use the money meant for equipments for their personal flashy lifestyle. Driving the best cars and living in mansions with money meant for the military. Fucked up people!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Its definitely sure you had no gun to your head that you refused to shout out to the necessary authorities to help secure fund. You refused to throw in the towel to help safegaurd an outstanding track record you have created for yourself as a celebrated officer(although im not sure i you are),but for you to be a decorated officer you must have earned it.

You were used, and now dumped. Its nice you have told us what happened then,so we are happy to chase after those that collected funds all in the name of buying military armaments.

You are a disgrace, sorry but im being honest with you. You could have said all this when you knew you had nothing to fight with, instead of that you had court-marshialed guys that refused to fight sentenced to death, was that not all under your watch.. You shall be judged accordingly if not y man, but hopefully by God..

    ReplyDelete
  44. He should fuck off...now he knows there was no weapon..now he knows there was the fifth column?
Why didnt he speak when the soldiers complained and protested?
What did he say when they wanted to kill these same soldiers?
Now cos his name is @ stake?

  49. So what happened to the millions of dollars that were being allocated to fight boko haram under your watch??? Imbecile....and to think that thousands have died needlessly. The blood of those innocent souls who you and your PDP thieves failed to protect will continuously be on your hands and those supporters of Jonathan and his administration thieves....

  50. Very true Sir,

But as a leader it was your duty to highlight this problem rather than join the rot and oversee the deaths of many soldiers under your watch.
You have just admitted failure as a leader.
I suspect you just shared what you could, took what you could and turned the other eye, like the rest of the Jonathan administration.

Court-martial coming your way to explain your actions or shall I say loss of actions.

  67. So now the incompetent goofer now realizes he lacks "necessary equipment" to combat insurgency but was painting lies and pushing our soldiers to the battlefront with dane guns and catapults while court-marshalling those that dared paint the true picture...
My question now is: what is the fate of the soldiers sentenced to death?

Badeh should be court marshalled too

  68. Gbam nail on the head.

  72. We do know money spent on security isn't accounted for. Monies were borrowed and spent aimlessly. Don't say you didn't have relevant equipment. It's best you say you spent the money or the money never got to the military.
