If APC did not win, I knew I was going to be in trouble- Gov Amaechi

Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi says he would have been in trouble and would have been hounded out of the country if APC hadn't won the presidential election. Amaechi said this during the public presentation of a book titled “Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years” which is the compilation of his achievements a governor. The book was presented in Lagos yesterday May 14th
"I knew I was going to be in trouble. Anything that would cause that change not to take place, I was ready to make that sacrifice. The federal government sent out a signal that if they won nobody should let me out of Nigeria from any airport. One day Asiwaju got angry with me. He was very angry. I went to his house with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and knelt down, saying ‘please let’s not disagree, let’s win first and then we can disagree.
I lost my passport in Ghana and went to the High Commission. They gave me a certificate but the Ambassador was given a query for doing so.  I later applied for a passport and they gave me green, not red. Now they have given it to me two weeks ago. I told Asiwaju that what is important is to make a history of the first civilian coup in Nigeria when your children and grandchildren read the history with your name as one of the people who helped bring about change in Nigeria. I said, let us focus on the victory. I remember the day of the convention, there were so many intrigues, there will be convention, there won’t be convention, I said my leader, if we don’t do the convention we are finished, the press will say APC cannot hold a convention, lead us now, there must be convention and election. So, he turned to me and said look for Tunde (Fashola), let us go.”he said
Professor Wole Soyinka who wrote the foreword of the book said
“The political atmosphere today, whatever you call it, change or hope, or cautious or careless hope, I recognise two individuals who led the change. One of them I call him the architect of that process, he is Ahmed Bola Tinubu. The arrowhead of the charge that led to the change is the man we are gathered here to honor. It is basic arithmetic fallacy of governance when 16 is said to be higher than 19, something is fundamentally wrong. Governor Amaechi stood up and challenged even his own colleagues saying, let us change the orientation of the nation. Somebody once said to me to tell the young man that he was going to destroy himself that he should slow down. Of course I didn’t deliver the message.”he said

  17. Heheheh..... not even the Governors Forum division wahala amaechi caused.... Why is it that politicians are always threatened by their independent minded successor or subordinate?? I love amaechi, fashola, Mimiko for being independent minded... amaechi look Oga Jonathan in the face, fashola n Tinubu also had clash towards the end of his first term. Mimiko 's reelection was actually not LP against APC it was. Personality(mimiko) against personality(tinubu) "Who is Who Game".. the only tiny respect I have for Jagaban( Tinubu) is his strategic creation of opposition against the Almighty PDP. Tinubu decentralised PDP so called "fixed power" no fit hold. The only language they are speaking now pityingly is "Babel" (Yes! Language of Confusion when centre falls apart". ) I am looking forward to politcians whose primary purpose is to serve the masses and not their pocket. Politicians who has a life to fall back on after their tenure.. I mean one with a credible career. Not one whom will tell you Politics is his career. OBJ has farm, fashola get chamber et al. All APC should pls work together with Buhari to bring about change ooo. Stop politicking and serve just as u promised the electorates. And I am also waiting for the clash of APC titans!! It's gonna be dirty and interesting.

  23. What silly achievement is C.R.A talking about? He should take a look at the Rivers State he's leaving come 29th... No single achievement... Even the schools, he remodelled Abi renovated, he has not paid teachers salary for 4 months and the teachers have since stopped teaching... students are going to school and they've been sent back cos of no teachers, the monorail is gradually turning into an abandoned project... Leaving pensioners and civil servants for 4 months without pay and paying them a month salary last week is an achievement? why didn't you launch that scrap of a book in Port Harcourt? Achievement my a**...

    ReplyDelete
  55. God did not vindicate anyone. Amaechis only contribution to the election is spending the blood money of Rivers civil servants on the election to get buhari around. That does n not make him the architect of change. Buhari was the one the north voted for and tinubu was the person the South west voted for. That is how apc won. Amaechis role was to lay the blood of the Civil servants at their feet to stomp on. Hebrews 10:26 says that If we sin knowingly, the protection of Christs sacrifice no longer prevails. amaechi, call God all you want. The voices of children who died because their parents could not pay hospital bills is recorded against you in heaven and here on earth. The voices of All the people you murdered in rivers state will hunt you down

That is if all these tussles was not a staged play.

There may be secret agenda to hand over to Wike...but to make it look like he opposes the plan.

These two people are friends but portraying themselves as sworn enemies.

Tinubu, do not rush into conclusion.

    Not just yet...
