"Again I spent time reading your comments and yesterday a youth named Toyin Dawodu indicated that he had an idea for a project that could deliver 4,000 MWs of electricity. I believe in the creativity and the spirit of innovation resident in our youth and I want to give Toyin Dawodu a chance to be heard. Toyin, someone from my office will make contact with you regarding your idea. I know I can not attend to every comment or suggestion due to time constraints, but please do know that I read them and they influence my actions." GEJ
It's an established fact that our president actually writes all this himself...
There are over 2million Nigerians on FB, and only about 100, 000 on our president's page. If what we say to him on FB really influences his actions, then many more of us need to join his page...
I'm hoping we can all influence him to cut down the Nigeria @50 anniversary budget...among other things...:-)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, Linda, he has actually reduced the budget for the 50th celebration.
ReplyDeleteThere are merits and demerits in his lastest strategy, plus he should bear in mind that the characteristics of those group do not necessarily represent the majority of Nigerians.
One demerits is that Facebook is highly addictive! I am no celeb by any measure (infact i am always looking to reduce my list to like 100 serious bloggers) but I find it takes valuable time reading through all messages, tags, wall posting and so on. He is meant to be one of the busiest men in the country, and yet has the time to personally read every single comment?
Then again, if he is trying to get a feel for what the sample population of Nigerians on facebook, feels about his policy that is fair enough. If it will help him put Nigeria back on the map as a great nation, then he should carry on.
Its an interesting development, lets watch and see..
Memena
Haba....while Goodluck might have a Facebook page he MOST CERTAINLY is not the one who comments on that page, because i have heard the man speak and he is absolutely not capable of coming up with that level of grammar.
ReplyDeleteWhich president get time for facebook?
ReplyDeletekiky u are a sinner!!! its very possible the man cannot speak well but can write well instead! @mena nobody said he will personally read every single comment and like u said he is waay to busy and certainly too mature to become addicted to fb! fb will not stop him from doing his job, if obama can be on twitter why cant jonathan be on fb? and yes his page will most likely be filled with nigerians in the diaspora but i feel its important for them to reach out to the president too, as they have more experience on how things are done better in other nations. I think its an excellent move by jonathan and I hope he continues to try his best to hear the voice of his people, this is where all other nigerian politicians have previously failed!
ReplyDeletehmmm. all i can type is let's wait and see. this is just one out of........... to come. so let's not start dancing MAKOOSA for nothing.
ReplyDeleteProud: you mightnotice that on the positive aspects of this development, we made similar points.
ReplyDeleteHowever just as there are good and bad sides to ANY development, I have identified what I think will be the bad sides and my criticism still stands,as it still reasonable. Your comments has not refuted my position unless you want to apply 'sentiments'. I lack the patience for that.
If he said he is personally reading comments, even singling out some names? why should I doubt him? or do you have the proof that he is NOT doing as he said? Comments dont jump at you, you have to read a lot of them before picking the one that makes sense. Thats how some clowns uploaded porn as well as fetish pictures. If minions were monitoring the page, how come it took so long for it to be deleted? Thank God it was eventually removed.
Facebook and other websites are the latest tool for publicity in Naija politics, and several public officers are gaining massive support by their actions in there. Nasir El Rufai is one example. If you see the hits his updates get, and from seriously well heeled Nigerians at that. Its incredible.
Others are gathering negative publicity with all manner of innuendos abt sexual perversion Two notable politicians springs to my mind, but lets leave matter abeg.
LOL@ comparing our presido to Obama, a legally elected president that got his mandate on the back of aggressive internet campaign powered by sustainable, constant power supply and open communication etc etc.Unlike G.J, Obama actually owes it to his constituents to appear accessible as well as to use the same medium as well as mandate that brought him power. Mind you, the opposition are seriously citicising his methods as well as some of his decisions.
See how merits and demerits works?
Coming to our country, lets face the bitter truth about ourselves; wey de light presido wan use to reach 150mil naija talkless of internet connection? which mandate put am there cus thats where his loyalties lie! why e be say na wen elections don near hin don decide to dey open? whats up with madam patience and all the other big big theif (chief) who were fingered for corruption? What happened to those cases and why arent they 'open for discussion?'
Abeg, make una no dey make pelzin laff bo. My comment still stands. INFS!
Skank: na you make me come this page to read your view as you seem to know a bit about politricks! carry go jare, make we dey face reality
I love him for doing this.
ReplyDeletehe listens to what people say, we complain, if he doesn't we will complain, why can't we just be satisfied
ReplyDeleteHe does not read it.
ReplyDeleteHe did not write it.
He is silly for believing that any sane person will believe otherwise on the two statements above.
I am irritated at the fact that it took faceless comments on FB for him to graciously reduce the binge allowance called anniversary celebration by one or two billions. it will still cost billions.
What the heck are we celebrating?
These barbarians in power need to be exterminated, i mean everyone of them. They do not have our interest at heart, not one of them.
Name one that has the interest of the people at heart and i will run naked on Ozumba Mbadiwe during peak traffic.
Has he finished holding endless meetings that are all about perpetuating the mediocrity at the top of our affairs to talk of logging onto FB?
I beg leave dead body for the owner!!!
guys watchout......
ReplyDeletejonathan is just a player....
time will confirm
@ anonymous i tire o my sister or is it my bro..lol...abeg its a welcome initiative
ReplyDeleteThe lady lying next to him on the bed, is that our First Lady, Dame Patience or Diezani? Ouch!!
ReplyDeleteUseless men, absolute criminals. If he really loves Nigeria, let his wife return the 100million she stole when he became the governor of Bayelsa. He is a just abloody thief like every other Nigerian politician. God will catch tmem all. Amen.
ReplyDeleteHe is just a player like OGD was when he first came into power. Any leader with our interest at heart will not be in the evil party PDP in the first place.
ReplyDeleteAbdulmutallab should have bombed these people maybe at their convention also IBB's villa instead of trying to bomb innocent muslim and xtian Americans.
Haaaa, i have never seen such wickedness like we have in Nigeria. Black man to black man o.
Hmm, that lady lying near our presido looks like Diezani, the Monica Lewinsky of Aso Rock.
ReplyDeleteAlicia says...
ReplyDeletewe will have to give him about 8 more months before we can fully judge him.
anyway i don't really know Naija politics all that well (i just follow nollywood and the celebrity scene. lol)
but i heard since he went into office, NEPA has gotten better.
THATS A BIG LEAP FORWARD!!!
idk if NEPA has anything to do with Goodluck but they only take the power when its about to rain and/or raining (stupid)
how many of you in Naija can attest to that?
just asking.
@alicia...abehi.whoever gave u dat info is just ignorant of the fact that e are in raining season and normally there is a high level of production...soooo....it's not a jonathan agenda.
ReplyDeleteand aiting 8months before we judge...dat's very ubhealthy.Nigeria is fast becoming a failed state so are beta at d turning point ...and if otherwise...in a year's time the we might all be regretting being a citizen of this nation.
none of this politicians truly have our interest at heart...
only very few...maybe d likes of MKO,Funso williams....and Gani
d rest are oleeeee, but one day.....bush meat go catch d hunter i swear
