FG set to launch an app that will disseminate information about govt activities to Nigerians

The Federal government is set to launch a new app that will help disseminate the activities of the Buhari-led government to Nigerians. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, yesterday announced that the app which will be called the Federal Government Information App (FGIAPP), will be launched in Abuja on 15 Dec. 2016.

He made the announcement at a meeting with Resident Information Officers (RIOs) from Ministries, Departments and Agencies ahead of the launch.

According to him, the Information App will be leveraging on Social Media to communicate government's policies and programmes to the people anywhere in the world and on real time basis. "We as a government and as Information Ministry will leverage on the unique technology to inform the world about what we are doing.

With the new App, it means anybody anywhere in the world will get to know, real time, what is happening in Nigeria at least from our own perspective and narrative" he said. He said the activities of the present administration are hugely under-reported, hence the need to align with the global trend in information sharing. "The information architecture has changed completely...Today, the story is very different because we have the New Media, and unless you show a very strong presence there, you are not communicating to the world," the Minister said.

He stressed the essence of rich content to make the App viable, and said the necessary training and working tools will be provided for the RIOs in order to build their capacity and ensure effective contributions from their respective Ministries. Departments and Agencies.

  13. Really!!!! An app, in this year and time? so you believe other social handles cant deliver that and you want to justify the reason to spend money for app? Goes to show how clueless you guys are at governance and present realities of a changing world.

  14. unecessary, every agency, ministry should be in charge of disseminating their actions. It is information overkill to use a single app to tell us all the activities of various entities.

  15. Federal Government Information App (FGIAPP) will be used by Buhari regime and DSS to track and trace you via your phone number.

If you love your PRIVACY and LIBERTY, don't use Lai Mohammed's stupid app.

Whatever info they have for the nation should be published on existing outlets: blogs, websites and social media.

That stupid app Lai Mohammed and co created probably was another opportunity to siphon millions out of the treasury.

Lai Mohammed must tell the nation if he spent for the stupid app. Was it $5,000 or ONE MILLION DOLLARS, OR TWO MILLION DOLLARS OR FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS.

Lai Mohammed, speak now or when tyrant-dictator Muhammadu Idi Amin Dada Buhari is kick out of power, we, THE PEOPLE, use EFCC and SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVISTS to kick down your fuckin front door and put your dirty and geriatric backside in EFCC under jail and feed you dog and cat food.

  25. we don't need no app to know what government is doing. what government is doing or not doing is visible and clear to everyone through the price of food and basic commodities, through the erratic power supply, through the high cost of living and general hardship people are facing, through the cluelessness of many so called ministers appointed by Buhari. No sir we already know what government is doing. Dont waste scarce money on any App unless of course if somebody is planning to chop money.
