Read Betty Irabor's toast to Single Mothers

Genevieve magazine publisher, Betty Irabor, shared this toast to Single Mothers on her Instagram page this afternoon.
"Toast to single mothers I would really love to raise a toast to all single mums out there. I was raised by a single mum and believe me, I know what it is for a woman to be both mum and dad to a child.... Mum raised 4 of us by being resourceful; in the day time, she worked at Nigeria Tobacco company and nighttime at NITEL (don't know what it was called then) and in between she was a seamstress.
And when a prospective affluent husband/step dad came along she refused his marriage proposal and a chance to have a life because the package he offered her didn't include us; her children! He wanted her exclusive of us...perhaps he wanted her to drop us off at an orphanage or something like that. Of course it was no deal for mum!!! Who would accept such an offer any way? It's not a walk in the park for single mothers and I think every man who deliberately makes a single mother of a woman because he cannot stand up to his responsibilities deserves a special day of reckoning before God. Here's toasting to every woman doubling up as mom and dad to their kids because of a man who isn't man enough to to be a real dad. - Betty Irabor

    2. I will give a toast to my mum as well. Never remarried after my dad died, she never threw us back to her in laws as well because she knew no one could ever give us the best the way she would. Thank God for giving me such a great mother.

Raising my glass ( of juice ) to all single moms too!
It's no walk in the park for women with partners talk more of those doing it single- handedly- may God continue to give you the grace to sail through motherhood in seeming ease in Jesus name. Amen.

  4. Being a single parent is twice the work, twice the stress and twice the tears but also twice the hugs, twice the love and twice the pride.
To all the legitimate single moms I say, Single moms: You are a doctor, a teacher, a nurse, a maid, a cook, a referee, a heroine, a provider, a defender, a protector, a true Superwoman. Wear your cap proudly.

  6. God bless you for acknowledging the women of strength- the single mothers. The hustle has not been easy but the Lord has been with us through it all. 20 years as a bread winner, Mum-Dad, the confidant and the disciplinarian, the list is unending with 3 beautiful children. GBU.

  17. For u girls out there not to double up as a mom and dad.. shine your eyes. Dbt rush to a man cos he has small coins to avoid doubling up. its a big mistake using pregnancy as a yardstick for marriage or gaining man's attention Else u will double up oh!
