Oshiomhole’s aide arraigned for publishing a post on FB against the governor and unlawful possesion of arms

A Senior Special Assistant on Media to Edo state governor Adams Oshiomhole, Curtis Eghosa Ugbo, has been arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court for allegedly publishing an article online against Oshiomole. According to The Nation, 47 year old Curtis was also arraigned for unlawful possession of firearms.

Court papers states that Curtis's article against Oshiomole was published on April 10th and had the caption,

“What is wrong with my boss, the ground breaking of Edo State own Cement industry in partnership with a private company under Government Public Private Partnership (PPP) and stakeholders, no state House members or Speaker and National Assembly members presence notice. Is Edo State now a personal business of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole?”

Ugbo pleaded not guilty to the three count charges preferred against him.

Police Prosecutor, ASP Sylvester Omor, told the Court that Curtis unlawfully had in his possession a double barrel gun which was not duly registered and so contravened section 59 (1), 249 (d) and 430 (2) of the criminal code cap. 48, vol. II laws of the defunct Bendel state of Nigeria 1976, as now applicable in Edo.

After hearing the arguments, the Magistrates’, Mrs C.A. Nwoha, granted Curtis bail in sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum who must be have a landed property. The case was adjourned till April 26th.

  6. Interesting...Linda, pls this report is incomplete. You gave the date Curtis Ugbo wrote the article on Oshiomole but failed to give us the date he was apprehended with the gun. Was it before the article was written or after. This will be very important in solving this riddle.

It is either he was set up by someone who wants his position or Oshio Baba is behind it.

Nollywood, na movie in the making be this o.

Curtis is in d camp of the deputy governor as u can see on his dp. Oshiomhole's paid FB e-rats hv insulted & rubbished other politicians and public office holders and they were never arrested.#ifoldmylegsdeywatch. Linda post my comment.

  28. So we no run an authoritarian govt in Edo state that someone can't express his feelings. I can remember wen Adams was d NLC president, and how he critized d leaders. So y can't someone do d same to him? This is exactly wat POWER can u. The saying u can't know a man until u give him power is do TRUE.

  29. Bad move from the aide. In civil service rule applicable in both federal and state government, I will simply put it as this " you don't bite the fingers that feeds you". But the arrest for possesion of illegal weapons, its a desperate attempt by the government to "deal" with him. I can almost believe the gun was planted by some mercenaries. If the government wants to punish him they should follow the rules in the book not cook up lies. Mr Aide, next time, if you want to criticize your employer, do that codedly by using outside hands. And the rule is never be caught.
