CCT /Panama report: I won't resign- Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki says despite his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal and the allegations from the recently released Panama report, he will not be tendering his resignation. Saraki spoke through his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in a text message sent to Premiumtimes. The text message reads
"There’s a case in the Tribunal and a resultant appeal at the Court of Appeal. The underlining philosophy of our legal system is that an accused person is presumed innocent until found guilty. Those who are contemplating calls for resignation want to circumvent the judicial system. They are obviously being sponsored by some politicians. The Senate President is not contemplating any resignation. He will surely have his day in court.”

  15. Who will Bukola Saraki be emulating if he resigns on point of principles? Is it his father, who was a major participant in bankrupting the second republic or any other Nigerian politician for that matter? Remember that the Societe Generals bank that he and his father looted was not founded by his father. Rather, late Olusola Saraki assumed ownership from his "partner" in controversial circumstances that became subject of prolonged and quite sensational litigation. Clearly, nothing can be dishonourable to any member of this family. Ilorin meshu jamba!

  32. Why are people abusing Saraki when the real fault lies with EFCC? They knew for years that Saraki filed false declaration of assets but did nothing about it then so why now? The judge should just dismiss the case on a technicality
