Insurgency worsens under Buhari – Ekweremadu

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu says insurgency has worsened since the inauguration of the present administration. He said Boko haram was already being rolled out of Nigeria before the elections but surprisingly they have increased their attacks and spread to other parts of Nigeria
"I am worried about the insurgence of the Boko Haram activities in Nigeria.  Shortly before the inauguration of the present government, the country had almost rolled back Boko Haram and its activities in every part of Nigeria, from Adamawa to Borno to Yobe. I was hoping that when we come back in the 8th Assembly, that I will work with our colleagues from the North-East to develop a plan of action that will help to rehabilitate that part of Nigeria. I feel so concerned about the suffering of our people from the North-East of Nigeria. I had hoped that by now we would be tasking ourselves on how best to rebuild that part of Nigeria. Regrettably the actions of Boko Haram seems to have resurfaced now not only in Borno, they have carried out their activities also in Plateau, they have gone to Adamawa, Kaduna. I am worried that if nothing is done, the next target would be Abuja. Maybe they start going to South. It is important for us as those in government, whether Executive or Legislature, to come together to find solutions to these problems.” he told newsmen (Punch)

    2. Funny man. Rolled out Boko boys indeed. Those that watched the video where boko haram were being chased n dislodged from sambisa forest will agree with me that most of them escaped even on bike, APC (armoured personal carriers) and left with ammunitions. Therefore, they can only regroup thereafter to launch more offensive attack. My question still remains that; why has the effort against the fighting of the insurgency reduced after the election???

  11. This man is a hypocrite. He's indirectly saying the same thing as FFK which is that Nigerians are suffering Boko haram attacks because we did not re-elect GEJ/PDP government. The question is how many people died from these areas he's mentioned during the GEJ/PDP government? It's not his fault, the blame is on the stupidity of the APC party who rancour amongst themselves thus opening the crack through which this PDP Lizard came in to have a say in this new government. Anybody can step up now to say they had the solution if not for the APC government.

  12. Hypocrisy you want to rebuild north east. What of Biafra after the war was it rebuilt. Upon the 3R ( RRR) that Gowon promised. Not only that it was not rebuilt but those who did not operate their bank account during the war was given only 20 pounds. And those who did operated their account, no matter how much you have was given nothing. Read there was a country - Chinua Achebe

  16. I am not surprised that insurgency has increased since Buhari took over, every reasonable Nigerian knows Buhari is the sponsor of Boko Haram. Immediately he took over he asked the military to stop invading Boko Haram camps, he also ordered military to stop killing Boko Haram because it's human right abuse, but that old fool is alive and his Boko boys are killing innocent people. I guess the lives of the people are not important to Buhari,he loves his evil Boko Haram boys than reasonable Nigerians. God will judge him. I pray they bomb him soon!

Isis members get killed everyday in their numbers- but in retaliation their atrocities have become worse- itz a normal response- darwin's theory- they will try to adapt, survive(by unleashing more terror)...look @ taliban,isis,al-qaeda- the smaller and 'weaker' they get,the more vicious they try to be..but i bliv we shall overcome with time..

  59. Boko Haram activities need to be stopped asap...the best solution of course is through prayers.I woke up few minutes ago with so much relief because it was only a dream, but I couldn't help myself from crying and sobbing because I feel I have just had a near experience to what our people in the northeast are going through.I manage to escape the horror!!! My life almost been taken away.I put a baby into a drum to keep her safe, only to realise I brought her to her death because the drum was filled with water. I saw her gasping for breathe and i could do nothing else the rest of "us" will be caught (although it's a dream,God please forgive me). This is the most terrifying dream ever and for the first time I trully understand the fear and anguish of my people. We only see gruesome pictures and thank God we are not victims, but these are our people and because we don't live in these regions,we shouldn't undermine the effect it has on other parts of our country.please all Nigerians, put Nigeria in your prayers. My Father in heaven,my God and creator, please have mercy on NIGERIA,KENYA and SYRIA and HEAL these lands in JESUS name! AMEN #GodHealNigeria

Just like in customer service, 'do not promise to deliver what is beyond your control, likewise the president should not promise what he cannot do or beyond his direct control. Of course, he cannot tell BH to stop the killing bcos he's the president and they will listen to him.
For My distinguished Senator, i feel your concern and pains. but coming from the opposition, most people especially the ruling party will view it as political talk. the warning is clear. Abuja residents should be more prayerful and at alert.
