Mariah Carey &Nicki Minaj blamed for the downfall of American Idol

On Tuesday this week, it was announced that the next season of American Idol would be the last show. The show is being cancelled after 14 years and it looks like now they are blaming the downfall of the singing competition on the disastrous paring of Nicki and Mariah on the season 14 of the show. Former AI executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is blaming Nicki and MiMi for tarnishing the brand.

American Idol boss ‘Nasty’ Nigel Lythgoe has blamed pop divas Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey for the demise of the talent show. The programme’s former executive producer has hit out at the casting of the two singers as judges and agrees with Fox axing the series. He said: “Mariah and Nicki was just crazy, and then it really started becoming about the judges and took away from the contestants altogether.
“I think that was a major failing on the part of casting to have those two together.

      That's a pure lie. Prior to their introduction, Americans were almost fed up with the program. It started being monotonous with no fresh ideas. The program has run its course and can no longer sustain the interest of the viewers. Blaming the demise on those two is a very irresponsible and uncharitable thing to do.

    Don't mind the guy. What has happened to the fantastic singer who won that Nikki/Mariah season? I've not even seen her picture anywhere, talk less of her album. American Idol can only market winners when they are white, or even better country-ass hicks. Also, there are other competing reality / talent shows that make more profit by lowering costs. That's why the network is axing the show, not because of some judges. When they changed the judges to Keith urban, jalo and whatsisname, why didn't the show become a hit again? The business model is no longer profitable, that's why. Plus I agree with previous "Anonymous" who said that it was uncharitable to blame the slump on past judges. I would add that it is sleazy and petty. Foolish man. Don't go and develop the show o. Be blaming past judges there o.
