Every group in Lagos will be safe in my hands - Ambode

Statement from the office of APC Guber candidate in Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode on the Oba of Lagos alleged threatening statement to the Igbos. Read below...

Every group in Lagos will be safe in my hands as governor. I will not discriminate against any religious or ethnic group. It is our Lagos and we must build it together.  In my acceptance speech after the primaries I made this note that I will be a governor for all and Lagos is safe  in my hands. I want to build on the foundation of unity, peace and progress and development laid by my predecessors.  I am your best choice for a Lagos that must continue to thrive. And though tongue and tribe may differ we Stand in brotherhood in Lagos from the smallest ethnic groups to the major ones.  We are all stakeholders.
Akinwunmi Ambode - Monday April 6th 2015

  29. So he ended up not telling us if the Oba said what was alleged neither did Ambode dissociate himself from what the Oba said. With the time it is taking them to confirm or deny the statement, I think it is safe to assume that the statement was made by the Oba. The only thing that can assuage the Igbos right now is for the Oba to be immediately dethroned. If this will not happen, the 1st casualty of such recklessness should be the ambition of Ambode. I am sure all the Igbos in Lagos have started mobilising for this weekends governorship election . Other tribes that are sympathetic to the Igbos and also found the Oba's statement reprehensible should please join hands with us to retire APC in Lagos state.

  30. We saw you at the open debates, Jimi was better than you , in every aspect of his plan for lagos state .... All you keep saying is about the pat government by fashola you don't have your own plan, tinubu don't do well in the history of lagos state and fashola change everything , but still understand APC , he could do that because he has plan already for lagos state , he was not relying on the past government by tinubu ....if we are to judge by plan each candidate has , you are lot going to win mr ambode , so stop building on fashola reputation because he never rely on tinubu government and he succeed , party apart plan matter most , and for this you don't deserve my own vote ... Jimi has got the plan , ever fashola know but party won't allow him to be honest this time around ...you look like a stool to me ,who want to be use by tinubu ..

    1. Yes Annon! I so concur wiv u. I watched the debate also. Ambode has no hope for our dear Lagos. In fact I feat he is going to take us back to the days of Tinubu. Fashola nevr relied on Tinubu, he CHANGED everything. Even when Tinubu tried to interfere, he stil stood his ground. Ambode looks like a chicken that wok just b following the mother hen. I wnt b surprised if Fashola wil stil b d one rulling from the background. Jimi has visions for this state. He spoke like a true governor. 2015 is the era of Change but this time for Lagos, not APC's change. Despite Jimi's party, he is d governor of Lagos and he is going to win because we serve the living God, not God of waters.

He dint succumb to Tinubu who wanted to inflate Lagos wiv his corruptible rules. Streets of Lagos are filled wiv thugs who tax commercial vehicles owners for fees that we know ain't given to the govt. No one is saying they shldnt collect their tax, aftrall I pay my tax, but there are more civilised way to go abt it. Now ur so called Oba has even proven to us the kind of administration we wil b going into if we vote u in. We want Change but I doubt if it's APC's change we need in this Lagos.

  44. With respect to the "alleged" oba statement, I want to state here that if this statement had emanated from PDP camp nobody will question it's veracity, as we clearly saw during presidential campaign- anything bad must be PDP. Then moving on to the comments I read especially. One stating that Igbos have pushed yorubas to the wall and will get the hausa treatment, lol, I laugh. What is this stance of doing the Igbo man a favor by allowing him do business and owning property? The question is how many other yoruba land aside Lagos does the Igbo man populate actively? Igbos are wired to reside where they progress and succeed by Their own toils not any man's free handout! If you feel the Igbo man is taking all your wealth why not stop him from doing business and building properties? No you can't because you need the profit from his business, the land is not given free he pays you money for it! Why do you then cry wolf when you are directly profiteering from a man's hard work? Or is it a case of envy? You said other tribe cannot be as free in Igbo land, I ask you how many of you are in Igbo land and what is the attraction there? The corporate sectors which you people rightly occupy, in Igbo land your people are there- go to the banks! So you think if Lagos was a landlocked state you will find that much actively involved Igbo man there? Please enough of this insults of doing Igbo man a favor it is no favor! It is a give and take relationship which your leaders and even you know truly in your heart! The igbo man does joy claim Lagos land he only lay claim to the proceeds of his hard work in the land and does have a right to do so! I repeat if you feel it's a favor then stop selling your shops and properties to them, deny them access to business, it's very simple mathematics! But yes what, you wouldn't cos you need the money as most of your buyers ate the same people you despise! Nigeria unity is a farce and igbo man continue to be your pawn in this skewed marriage! Leave them alone, they don't need government position to survive hence do not detect where or who they pitch their tent with!

Some people are saying we want change in lagos cos there's change in the FG...that's pretty lame and baseless...experience- Ambode has it....Track record-Gov Fashola's administration has shown it...and it can only get better. The best candidate at this point is Ambode cos we need the trend of development to continue. Jimi on the other hand lacks the experience and technical know how to run Lagos, we all know the track record of the pdp and the desperation and negative campaign which they displayed in the concluded presidential election do you think such a team is better than the present govt in Lagos .But then every individual has the right to vote for his/her preferred candidate.God bless you all as you vote reasonably.

Did the Oba not listen to what the Awujale said about obas as not having powers to influence how their subjects vote? It is common sense that the lbos can't be forced to vote the way the oba wants. ÀPC should change their strategy. Woo the Hausas and those from South-South. If Agbaje wins good for them. If not they loose out just as is their case at the National level. The patronage given them as slot of commissioner, head of parastatal, etc can then be taken away and given to the north and/or south-south. This is how politics is played. Threatening them could be counter productive. Please the Oba should take it easy o.

Damage limitation and restitution have to be applied here, and quickly too, or APC would face a massive protest vote come Saturday.

Oba Akiolu might just have swung the vote to Jimi Agbaje!

  87. Thanks Oba for helping me to make a decision as to whom to vote for. You just gave one more vote to Jimi Agbaje.

Can some confirm that Jimi is a Lagosian because the Oba, by his comments is treating him like an outcast.

  99. I think it is better to ensure there is peace in Nigeria, why don't we rather ignore all words that may bring about strive and forge a new course in Lagos by voting for whoever we think best? We need not resort to damaging anyone's image cos of another individual's outburst. The constitution is clear, no vitizen of this country must suffer any discrimination by reason of his religion, or tribe. Whether we like it or not, we must make Lagos work for us other nations and their stste hovrrnors or presidents wouldn't do this for us, it is our responsibility to come all out and bote for our candidates without sentiment. If we love Nigeria and even Lagos then we must decide its faith by ourselves this is not for the Oba to do his vote is just 1 out of thousands. God bless u all and bless our nation Nigeria. Peace is what we need. Let's live as one people no matter the tribe you are from. One love people.

We are all praying for the humility and tranquillity for all the states in Nigeria. If by virtue of the fact that Ambode lose the election and the Oba tries anything funny, we are gonna have our pound of flesh and sleep well!

  108. It's really sad that the Oba of Lagos will allow his statement to divide APC camp. So much as being said and I am in the Opinion that he Oba should release Press statement and Apologise to the Ibos. I am still for APC and i know a lot are still on the same path..

  111. But seriously, amidst all of this, though damaging to Ambode's PR, it really says nothing about Ambode's personal disposition.

Igbos, ignore the old man, do not change your views over this. Not worth it. If you were for JK, remain. If for Ambode, remain. Unless you have other manifesto-related reservations.

  112. .Watched Politics today on channels TV yesterday, both Ambode n
Agbaje were on air but were interviewed separately. Ambode spoke
with humility, he has a clue on where 2 start n how 2 build on d
legacies of Fashola. He is prepared 4 dis leadership role.
On Mr. Agbaje, anytin PDP touches bcomes contaminated n toxic.
When he was asked on d statement he made sometimes ago dat if
GEJ looses d election, d Niger Delta wld blow up all pipelines. He
became hysterical n said he never made d statement dat he was
only painting a scenario wen he made d statement.
My take: Did u or did u nt say it? Which one b painting a scenario.
He denied receiving funds frm PDP 4 his campaign.
My take: Na JK pharmacy dey foot d bills. D 2 branches of JK
pharmacy can't pay 4 20 slots of adverts on Channels TV alone.
He said dat Lagos has bin doing well being in opposition.
My take: so u agree Lagos has bin doing well so y saying u want 2
bring ur bold ideas 2 fix Lagos. U also told us dat dis time Lagos
must align wit d Centre (prior 2 GEJ's defeat).
He couldn't articulate his bold ideas yesterday. He spoke arrogantly
    n seems corky.
In leadership; keeping 2 ur word, administrative skills, trust,
humility n integrity are essential.....and NOT deceit. ...

My fellow bothers Lagos as well be been developed to be put into the hands of likes of Bode Gorge, Fani Kayode and other. If JK get lagos that means we have handed over Lagos this guy and we all know what the did at the federal level. Believe or not APC PPC, APGA and other are all operation like an organization with a chairman as the head but the chairman can't act with out the input of the board of directors. Fashola won't habe been apple to do it along without his organization influence the APC. Don't forget somebody put JK there and the will ask for returns. Lagos as gone to far to be brought down. This is a food for thought, God bless Nigeria, God please Lagos and everyone in Lagos. Vote APC vote continuity

  115. Hmmm! I think the Oba was wrong to have made such statements credited to him. Having said that I also know it was a set up and he probably played into their hands(I mean the PDP goons) cos they have been threatening they will take Lagos at all cost. It appears this is the stategy they intend to use to stir up hatred for Ambode and APC. But then, why don't we vote based on issues. What the Oba said does it represent the opinion of Ambode or the APC. Considering the two candidates, what can they offer us? Ambode has been in government before and we could all attest to his contributions but Jimi Agbaje is a green horn. Let us vote wisely.

  116. Good afternoon everybody. I think we should stop blaming our amiable Oba. We should ask ourselves why is Oba Akiolu angry with the Igbos? Then consider the followings: 1. I will elevate the Eze to status of Oba of Lagos-Jimi, 2 Igbo will determine who rule Lagos-Ubah, 3. Lagos is no man's Land-TAN, 4. Igbo develop and controls Lagos-Jimi, 4. We must produce the next Deputy Gov. Eze Ndigbo. Now my questions: 1. Can Obi of Onitsha, Emir, or Tiv accept to elevate Yoruba Oba to 1st class? 2. Can any man go to Aba and say Aba is no man's land? 3. Akabueze has been a commissioner for 12 years in Lagos, can any Igbo Govt accept this? We need to tell our Igbo brothers not to allow them to be used to disturb the peaceful co-existence in the state. The only instrument in the hand of pdp is diversive method. Sambo went to Kaduna and said that they should not vote for Buari because his Deputy is a Pastor. Agbaje wanted to sell his fatherland becos of his inordinate ambition to rule. He wanted to surrender the birthright that do not belong to him alone- another Afonja of old Ilorin. Please the attention we are giving to this issue is getting too much. Let us mobilise our Yoruba and Hausa people to vote en-mass on Saturday. Also we must watch very well the antics of the dreaded AIG Mbu, so that pdp will not use him to truncate our joy. Shalom
