Photos: Police parade dogs that attacked 4-year-old boy in Lagos

Meet the dogs that viciously attacked 4 year old Omonigho Abraham inside his compound in the Igando area of Lagos state on September 25th (read story here).

The Lagos State Police Command paraded the two German shepherd dogs yesterday at its headquarters in Ikeja, Punch reports. According to the police, the dogs were paraded "so that the public would be convinced that they were still in police custody, and had not been released as was being rumoured." Really? Continue...

Speaking about it, the Commissioner of Police, Cornelius Aderanti, said;
"We have brought the dogs out so that the public would know that they are still in police custody. They have been examined and they show no negative trait. It is only the court that will decide what happens to them. The police cannot decide to kill the dogs.”
Am I the only one who finds this weird? Anyway, the little victim, Omo, had asked that the dogs be killed but the police say it's up to the courts. Meanwhile the owner of the dogs, Stanley Wesley, was arrested and arraigned in court for negligence but has since been granted bail.

  14. Naija.. We are a country of jokers. What offence did the dog commit? Were they aware of their crime? Are we sure the dogs were not provoked?

Parading dogs?? I'm not surprised. They've paraded goats before. This stupidity is what tax payers are funding?

    2. Mr mumu dishonest idiot nigerian, the norm wen an animal attacks a human being, is that, that animal be 'put down' - killed immediately. That is the normal thing to do in the land of humans. Snd d owner of the dog/s if found, be prosecuted for not controlling his animals, irrespective of whether or not the dogs are diseased. Especially wen they chased the victim into his house.

See the way some sensely pple are commenting like they cant reason.

  22. They should be recruited into the NPF and trained! They are already police dogs, remains to make it official.

  23. Lol, is not the dogs per se! But the owner of the dogs, will be held liable for negligence, trespass, assault and battery, either of any! Most of this dog owners dope there dogs with weed, vodka, and life animals like chicken, rats etc! God help this kid, nd shud test the boy for rabbis. Madam linda biko post

  24. Why should the dogs be killed. They were only doing what they had been trained to do.their owner should be the one charged. Poor dogs. They shouldn't allow foreign dogs in Nigeria. Nigerians don't know how to take care of them.

  26. It's things like this that make me angry at this country. I love my dear country and would never turn my back, but d fact that our leaders have chosen not to move this country forward beats me!!! This type of nonsense can never happen in the western/developed countries. The owners would be facing several charges by now, because he is responsible for his dogs. If ur dogs are not trained or tamed, then they should be within your premises at all times. if they have to go out, u put a leash and make sure they r under your immediate supervision. What if this little boy had lost his life? And the dogs attacked him in his own compound! Stanley Wesley, u r a lucky man! I suppose u r not even a Nigerian. Thank your stars u r not in ur own country, cos i would hv been dancing to a different tune by now. U had better pay for all his medical bills! Arrant nonsense!

    1. My dear you are so right! This stanley knows deep down in his heart that he would never ever had gotten away with tjis rubbish had he been in his own country. Those dogs would have bn killed instantly whether or not they were provoked, and the stanley goat who i am very sure deliberately left those dogs unchained would be facing the full wrath of the law.
      Nigeria my country!
Here pple keep their pets on a tight leash and wont dare let dogs go near a child or even an adult. They see u coming they shorten the leash on their dogs just to avoid stories.

  27. Are these dogs used as 'guard dogs' or kept as pets?
If they are used as guard dogs, then they never should have been left to roam around without mouth nozzles or at least have leashes and be under the watchful eyes of the owner...in which case he should be charged.
If they are kept as pets ( which should imply complete domestication and not vicious dogs), then they should be culled without hesitation as they have 'turned'.

    ReplyDelete
  28. All of u are fools.. U all need to understand animal psychology before u conclude on your stupid assumptions.
Yes dogs do have a mind of their own but ther don't just act.
    1. Am sure the Stanley guy caged or chained those dogs.
    2. He wasnt home during the attack.
    3. The kids might have tormented the dogs where they were chained or in d caged, they probably even released d dogs from the cage.
And yeahh stanley's sentence was just cos he'd been warned several times to take good care of his dogs, so that was basically negligence on his side.
The police have no right or whatever to kill d dogs..
I am sure those dogs were provoked by the kids. And again its been stated that the dogs were examined n no bad trait was found in them..
So u ignorant Nigerians, broaden your knowledge bout things n situations before u run your mouths..

  32. So in court the dogs will have to defend themselves first to be found guilty or not.Nigeria police is actually a bunch of comedians.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Olubukola WTF u call yourself, these are guard dogs, they are meant to be vicious. my Rots can tear a full grown man apart so they are on a tight leash. the dogs are not to blame, its the owner.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Naija police and their incompetence. when a dog attacks a human being that dog is killed because it has tasted human blood and it will do it again. What are the parading dogs for the public to see? why have the not killed those dogs? dont the have any feelings when the see the face of that little boy? na wa for them o

  35. Linda...I wish they can ban people from keeping dogs as pets...even in my area at Bucknor estate after jakande gate...some idiots keep dogs... Even the new neighbors packed in with fierce looking dogs..am only concerned about our young ones...some are still toddlers... God help us..#from a pained mum

  36. the level of ignorance on this subject it appalling. Kill the dogs indeed. Because they are human abi and can decipher that they committed a crime. Brainless bunch. The only Liable person is the owner of the dogs.

    ReplyDelete

    1. U brainless he/she goat! Mumu of the highest order that has no sense but must be heard at all cost. If an animal attacks a human being, the animal is immediately put down to avoid another attack and the owner is prosecuted to the full extent of the law for negligence of his property therefore causing bodily injury or death of a human being. Key words mumu - HUMAN BEING. So i wonder who is exhibiting ignorance here

  43. D owner shld be arrested nt d dogs. Wetin corcern d dogs? If dey wer properly handled by d owner, dnt tink such s**t wld av happened.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Someone implied the dogs ought not be killed since they were not aware of what they did, the person also claimed they might have been provoked. True they might not be aware of what they did, therefore killing them is not vengeance but mercy killing so that they will not do it again. As for the police claiming they find no negative traits in them, well what could be more negative than the reason that brought them into police custody?

  53. killing the dogs cant undo the deed, i think the owner should just be penalized for negligence and also cautioned to always cage his dogs. as for the little boy saying they should kill the dogs dats all he belives and knows. quick recovery i pray bro
