The governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, yesterday announced the renaming
of the State University after elder statesman, Chief Solomon Lar,
who died
October 9th after a long illness
at the age of 80. The governor made this known while receiving the body of the late politician at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport from yesterday.
Chief Solomon Lar was a member of the first national parliament when Nigeria gained independence in 1960 and was the first Executive Governor of Plateau
state. He will be buried on the 13th of Dec. which has been declared a work
free day in the state.
