Johannesburg press dub Rihanna's show a rip-off

I'm sure most of you are more interested in the 'Abused, killed, dumped; do you know this boy?' story but we are talking about Rihanna here...:-) So she made history at her concert in Johannesburg South Africa last Sunday October 13th by becoming the youngest person ever to sell out the 67 thousand seat FNB Stadium, but the local news dubbed her show a rip off...

From The Star SA
Sunday night’s Rihanna concert has left some fans complaining of lip-synching and a below-par performance. She was trending on Twitter yesterday morning after her performance at the FNB Stadium on Sunday night, with a mix of adoring messages and not-so-glowing reviews.
The latter included allegations that Rihanna was miming some of her songs, did not do a single costume change, had not performed some of her biggest hits and lacked vitality. “It’s obvious, you know when someone is lip-synching – I was in the Golden Circle, I could see it,” said Sharon Seretlo, a photographer at The Star.
Some of these artists like to come to Africa and do anything they like...continue...

“I’m a diehard Rihanna fan but I was disappointed,” she said. “It was like she didn’t give the energy we wanted from her.”
Another fan said: “I think she was actually lip-synching because, at some points, the words of the song were happening but she wasn’t singing along. I don’t know if she was doing it for the whole show.”
Another fan, Nicole Contini, said there were other problems. “She had the song choruses playing in the background and sung over them – you knew she was singing because she wasn’t always on key,” she said. “I wasn’t too surprised as I know she’s a recording artist and her performances aren’t very strong.
“Having said that, I don’t feel the ticket prices were fair considering the level of performance,” Contini said.

  4. LOL...at the lip-synching accusation, Riri is talent and the world knows it but artistes improvise sometimes, especially if they are under pressure or exhausted.

    1. Rihanna does not have any atom of talent in her, people that appreciate good music knows this......she's just a recording artist who lip syncs nd walks around a stage touching her vagina

  12. If this story is anything to go by then its highly unprofessional of Rihanna to lip-synch on a sold out show.
She should leave the lip-synching to the lot of Nigerian celebrities except or a few who can actually perform to live instrumentation.

  26. How about you guys try and sing a 3 hour show with no back up... If that's what you want and think is so easy to obtain go ahead and do it--- Its not lipsyncing, its called a back up track its usually used in choruses especially to prepare artist for the versus that may have over lapped the chorus or to entertain the crowd with some dancing or fan screaming gestures... I've heard her sing once live before and it was amazing--- I've been a die hard no.1 rihanns fan for 7 years now... I'll see her Cape Town concert tomorrow and proove your accusations wrong

  28. The west will continue to exploit us Africans, they still see us as monkeys living in trees! That's why they charge obscene amounts of money for not up to par performances, the Kardashian debacle readily comes to mind. At least in S.A they noticed she was lip_syncing in Nigeria, everybody will swallow it hook line and sinker. Why? Because we are a people so used to having crap shoved down our throat, we don't care anymore. In fact now we even beg for more crap!!!
