Question of the day: Do you think Nigerian celebs need bodyguards?
Don Jazzy, Wizkid, Davido, Iyanya, Terry G and a few other Nigerian celebs all have bodyguards. I thought they should definitely have bodyguards until I heard an argument yesterday. Some people think it's absolutely unnecessary. What do you think?
If only they would trend softly, then they don't need bodyguards. But if otherwise, let them enter the toilet with a bodyguard. But in the real sense, they don't need a bodyguard.
Every high profile celebrity needs bodyguards! Fans could get too frenzied and swamp a celeb when they see him/her, and a bodyguard can keep that in check, and then there are malevolent folks all around too who have evil plans, and a bodyguard can offer that needed protection.
Its not a matter of saying Rubbish!!! You'd be suprised the amount of 'crazies' we have out there so to an extent its necessary especially for celebrities. Yes bodyguards are not God but they are protective shields for them here..

I've seen a not so popular star driving in ojota traffic and passerbys and agberos demanding for money they didn't work for...you needed to be there cos it was as if she owed them money and some went as far as hitting her car and sitting on it. Telling her she won't leave till she settles them, what if she had no dime on her? It was a sorry sight! I like the idea of a body guard cos its for your own good and safety cos there are some crazy fans out there and Naija is not safe!
I think they need. This is Nigeria, nd with the way they flaunt bentley, flaunt dollars, flaunt everything so they shld be protected @least. Although anyfin can still happen wif bodyguards sef but pple will know you tried to protect yasef. And also all dese guys that like to obtain ordinary rich guys, nt to talk of well known celebs. Without bodyguards all dese touts will obtain their lives away, so I think they need bodyguards.
Initially I was going say that they don't need bodyguards but they are very successful artists in a country like Nigeria which increases the chances that they can be kidnapped so I guess it makes sense.

Well,cos of the ubiquity of agberos/area boys, yes, they need private security personnel! The use of blings and expensive clothings too, they need body-guards here in this clime for now. I believe that they can also let their 'airs' down, as in, i have meet some without this 'overzealous' guards before, warm and cool ones though!!
Well I think it's absoloutely necessary!!! Besides it also provides a form of employment for these jobless gym freaks and more source of income for underpaid mobile police men.
I am ordinary Nigerian citizen and I am not secure talkless of a Nigerian celebrity.Abeg leave Matter for Mathias.I even advice Ex female wrestlers and boxers to go into this lucrative business and be female bodyguards to celebs that need them to protect their girlfriends/wives or themselves.

Sure dey do need it,the music industry has grown so big,a normal or regular artist charge has high 200k per show ,no band , just dj .and judging from the situation of event in da country ,kidnap ,theives,area boy palava.dey sure do need it.god protect though but is needed if dey can pay d bills .like dey say money talks bullsh**t works.
I think they need bodyguards because they are easy targets for kidnappers and 'crazy fans' although they cannot provide 100% security. Also, I believe it's very good for the economy on a small scale cos those guys make much money and it's good if some guys out there can get jobs as their body guards, get paid and be able to cater for themselves. No they don't , no one really cares about them that much . It's celebs like beyonce and co that need bodygaurds because no matter where they go they will be bombarded by fans .
I totally depends on where and what occasion they r going for and what class of ppl they may come in contact with just like Hollywood celebrities do. But for having bodyguards everyday and to everywhere, it's totally unnecessary.
It's very very necessary cos hungry fans can decide to tear them apart, why are we even acting like we don't know Nigerians, they haven't sen a celeb yet, they act like rascals when they now see nko...
body guards are needed so fans don't get to arras artist in public ( good or bad intent ) , you don't know what might just happen because they are brands and public figures .. it's just simple, i'm not sure they protect against snipers though !!

When people see bodyguards they be like 'who wants to kill him?'. Bodyguards are not just to protect you from harm but to limit access to you. So yes, some celebrities need bodyguards; and even pastors too. Was in Transcorp hilton in abuja one day when Bishop Oyedepo came in, he was lucky he had escorts. Everyone wanted to say hi to him, be touched by him or atleast touch him.
So some people need bodyguards for real, while some do it just to put themselves in the pedestal of those who need them.
Unless in the case of a female artiste to defend them during assaults, like when Karen got assaulted by a police if she had a body guard it might not have turned out that way, as for guys hmmmn! I think they still do, they could be in beef with someone that is stronger than them, and he might just corner them on one street and beat them up. U know anything can happy.
That a man needs a bodyguard or not is a personal choice. You can't open your trap and say they are not necessary. Do you know what he's been through or what he is going through? Do you know if there's a threat on his life? People should just drop the bad-belle ish and see things the way they should be seen. You can never know what is going on in a man's life! If he has a need for a bodyguard and can afford one, how e take concern anybody? Awon haters oshi.

If they want body guards, then they should get body guards. It's a case of safety and there's really nothing wrong with a body guard, after all their counterparts in other parts of the world have body guards. The problem we have here is that we dont seem to think our celebrities deserve anything good or classy and that is just sad.

Well, everyone has got his/her own choice. Left to me,I think they know what it means to be famous and how it affect them directly or indirectly. They might be using these bodyguards for some specified reasons which they feel is working out for them. So, yes, its their choice. Take a time out to assume u were in their shoes, u could need even more bodyguards for physical protection.
No they don't need one cuz they are not that famous outside of Africa but they should definitely keep them because they are providing otherwise unemployed men with jobs

Eye witness experience,i rem vividly d day 2face was chillin @d beach then a fan went to say HI, then another before he knew it a mammoth crowd besieged him,some were trying to touch,some steal his gold chain,some catch a glimpse of him.it took the help of private beach bouncers to help him gt out of the crowd[HE WAS CARRIED ABOVE THE CROWD],he felt so embarrased it was evident on his face.the day i heard him say it on TEJU BABYFACE SHOW,i smiled cos i wz a KOROKORO EYEWITNESS.Ma point,pls gt one if needed.

Pls note,bodyguards are not only meant to guide against bullets or been shot at,I think it extends to restriction of unwanted attraction,assault,harrassment and so on. So,if our celebs deep pockets seems large enough to accommodate the extra cost for bodyguards services,why not!

They might be using these bodyguards for some specified reasons which they feel is working out for them. So, yes, its their choice.
