Train and truck collide in Lagos

A train and a truck collided last night at the PWD railway crossing in Ikeja. The truck (seen above) was trying to cross the railway line when a speeding train coming from Ebutte Metta and heading to Agbado rammed into it. Fortunately no life was lost but a few people sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital. After the accident, the train had to terminate its journey, leaving its passengers stranded.

      There was a day rain was falling,n my fiance n I were driving...we didnt hear d sound of d train,n we passed by.dat day we thanked God 4 our lives.

    Thank God, for the first time truck drivers have bigger vehicle that can pull them down. Mak dem see how i de be. Nnukwu mmawu la train (big masquerade)

    This is very wrong and bad of the truck driver. How could he risk his life to that extent. Is a pity no punishment and penalties.
    Only in Lagos this nonsense happen fill with some insane element.

    Those truck drivers need to be trained. Some of them are very impatient. They need to secure their trucks properly and also need to slow down. They should stop at railroad crossing.

      Thank yu ooo,yu can hear d sound of a train frm miles away,even frm my house at oko oba yu can hear d hootin sound of an oncoming train,so was he drunk driving,sleep driving or forming Rambo ni??Tank God for His fathfulnesss sha!

    Policemen always stand at the junction of PWD to stop vehicles from passing by when a train is coming.where were they when this hpnd.they were to blame for what hpnd.The truck driver might not know a train is coming.I used to stay at PWD and i know how things work there.yeye Pple

    This is every shade of wrong. We need to get proper rules and laws put in place.
    There should be those railway signs or "things" alerting people on incoming trains. Though I know cab/bus drivers in nigeria are somewhat sick in the head! They NEVER obey traffic/road signs,rules or regulations.

      The fact is Nigeria still has a long way to go! I drove for 10yrs in nig nd had to start Frm d scratch wen I got to d UK, can't remember seein any rd sign LAGOS ! Many yrs bak was listening to a radio prog nd a bus driver was asked what the black nd white stripes on d rd meant he said its a special design to advertise Tom Tom sweet with d black n white stripes!

    U guys shldnt blame d driver. I hav a frnd whose car was hit by a train in dat same location. Its built in a way dat people on d road wldnt even no dat a train is coming. And there is no kinda indication what's so ever. D only way u wld no is with the workers dat stop cars when a train is coming. But yet these workers wld leave their post for what ever reason. There has been many accidents there but yet d govt hasn't don anytin about it.

      Why would a truck cross over a rail road. Are the railway and roadway sharing the same way? The manner at which truck drivers drive at times on the road "is as if you should get out of their road" like a goliath looking down on david. Our urban roads need re-planning and re-design.
