Rapper Ice Prince defends record labels in Nigeria

In the last few months quite a number of Nigerian artists have left their record labels in controversial  circumstances...from Wizkid (who later went back) to Jesse Jags to Chuddy K, Brymo, Vector...etc.  Ice Prince seems to think the labels are doing a great job...and the artists have themselves to blame if their careers aren't going the way they want. Who agrees with him? See more Tweets after the cut...

  2. Its true that record labels help in bringing up young stars but the disgruntlement that usually comes up is either the employer or employee wanting to be greedy, and most times the former is always the culprit of that greediness!

Prince Charming, the use of neologisms may be a sign of mental illness. (Just so you know).

I think what his trying to say is before you sign up an agreement with any record label, you be able to agree with the rules not later you come out and start opening your mouth.

  17. For a label to give me an official car and house is not enough because he will collect it from me later. If i sign in a record label until 4yrs they have not shown any sign of giving me a good video and promo shows they dont want me to grow.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Totally agree. These labels invest in Artistes when they are and have nothing spending their own resources. If the artiste does not make it at the end of the day, its the labels loss so why complain when they make a lot of money from the artistes that succeed. Its business. Ice you just earned my fullest respect.

  21. Most people need a label to market them etc. nigerian artiste are in a hurry to be on their own not understanding that success involves a lot of things other than singing. However, the labels shouldn't be too greedy.

  32. You cant do any personal runs once you are under a record label, its the job of the record label to promote your music. "Promote my album so we could share profit" i think the guy was not asking for more. Choc city took advantage of the poor boy cos he was naive then, the guy should promote himself and manage anything he gets from it. I no too gbadun all these quick riches sef. Na d same fuel bentley and okada dey use.

  38. Sorry I m gonna use dis story to comment abt OJB's kidney failure. Most lib readers r being judgemental asking wat happened to OJB"ss money and why he cant afford d 15million he needs.well u all shud pls forget abt those questions n help d poor guy.For most of u who don't know Ȋ̝̊̅† kidney failure no be beans.d guy ll need dialysis atleast 2-3x weekly depending on how bad he is.each dialysis session costs atleast 25k meaning he spends 50-75k on dialysis weekly.dis is asides from d erythropoetin and iron sucrose he needs which cost over 40k for each weekly shots.also his antihypertensives and other drugs cost alot.so don't sit dere judging him.CKd drains money like crazy .God pls help and save him.God bless Don Jazzy for his efforts
