Sandra, who has been an auto mechanic for the past 27 years, runs an NGO that empowers women called the Lady Mechanic Initiative where she has empowered and graduated over 150 women in Lagos State alone. Sandra has over 150 women mechanics in Abuja and 100 women mechanics in Benin where 50 of the girls are graduating in three weeks time. 40 of them will be employed by Sandra immediately after graduation in her Lagos, Benin, Kaduna and Abuja workshops. Some of the girls who have passed through her are now self employed with their own mechanic workshops and even training other female mechanics. This woman has done so much to empower women in this country and helped to reduce prostitution in her home state Edo, so it's so sad to see this happen to her. We should be celebrating this woman, not taking land from her.
She trains these girls for free, still gives them a salary and accommodates them. The land that was sealed today houses the Lady Mechanic Workshop and a hostel for her girls where the girls, some of them orphans, stay rent free.
Their reason for sealing the place? They are saying the land belongs to the Lagos State government. Thing is, Sandra has been on that land for the past 10 years. I've spoken with Sandra myself and she's devastated but staying strong for her girls. See photos of the sealed workshop after the cut...
The young man being manhandled by the police is Lady Mechanic Office Manager, Barr. Adeshina Adedapo Ajagunna.
BARBARIC GOVT!!!! Mscheeeewww
ReplyDeleteHow is the Goverment babaric ehn? If the land belongs to her she should go to court with her C/O otherwise she should vacate! Leave sentiments aside Linda if someone stays on your land and you say you want it back will you leave it because the person is doing a commendable job or because its a woman? Nigerians we are too quick to judge the Goverment. That being said I commend what she has and is still doing brought tears to my eyes, I can only hope she can LEGITIMATELY acquire the Land back from the Goverment, that's where you should put your blog to use Linda by creating an awareness on how the property can be hers who she can talk to, how to go about it, lawyers on your blog who will be interested in taking up the case (for free NGO things please!), and how to raise the funds! Remove Sentiments!
DeleteWhat a cunt of a country.
DeleteI feel some people comment because they av a phone dt browse, not a reasoning brain. Do u all think she has being staying on dt land for free, this same govt would av being paid duely for rent or possession of dt same land. Lagos state can actually do better than giving her such disgrace, afterall she has contributed to d society positively.
DeleteIf the land belongs to the government, doesn't it require a more modest way to sort it out than sending"a pack of hungry dogs" like she stole?! She shd definitely tk dis to court!
Deletelinda the fact that she has been on that land for 10 years, does not means the land belong to her,if she thinks the land belong to her she should take the government to court. sinple
ReplyDeleteYou are so stupid!! "take the govt to court" my ass. This is the same thing this idiots did to my dads house in surulere. Claimed it was govt land & it's blocking canal yaddy yaddy ya, luckily sha, they later left the house Alone. Nigeria government needs serious intervention.
DeleteLinda is expected to be educated enough to know what is right or not rather than feeding on sentiments.
DeleteThe woman has done well with the girls but should do it right.
Go back to primary schl and learn english language, would u?
DeleteI agree with you but your type English is meant for Zebrudaya of New masquerade
Deleteshrek
Ur a big fool
DeleteChai. Enemies of progress at work. God will fight for her.
ReplyDeleteUr an idiot to say god will fight for her. People should stand up against this
DeleteThey should settle this in court, because you can't conjecture on something like this.
ReplyDeleteNa waoo this Nigeria government they can't help us get employment yet been a blocking stone to people success, God wil help the youth of this country...
ReplyDeleteAPC government, what do you expect? may be Tinubu wants to build another of his empire there....

What type of handset r u using dt type nonsense, abi na u de type rubbish?
DeleteComnendable work she's done so far.... She should come forward with proof of ownership... Else, she should move her biz elsewhere.... No sentiments
ReplyDelete...And that is all there is to it. Period!
DeleteLinda, you are not being reasonable at all. That the lady mechanic has stayed on a land for close to 10 years does not make her the owner of the land. It is either the land belongs to her or it does not. If it does not belong to her, when the real owner comes and ask her to vacate, she vacates. There is no sentiment about that. I believe that she must have have made enough money, judging from the story, to be able to acquire a place of her own. So, let her put her money to work.
ReplyDeleteTru Talk says: Linda and reasonable in the same sentence? She has extremely low IQ forget d fame she doesn't appear very intelligent!!
DeleteIts either you are a fool or you are a kid. I wonder why people like you even speak when humans are meant to.
DeleteJason
Anon 2:44 What happened to giving your tenants notice and time to source for another place. Atleast thats what the law says. This woman creates jobs or your brain doesnt tell you anything useful?
DeleteI think parents should control the way children like you gain access to the net.
First of all, it seems there was no established landlord/tenant relationship. So no relationship to determine, thus no notice to quit, or landlord intention to possess property. Even if there had been, from d fact given to us by Linda, we wouldn't know. The lady from fact, has been a squatter, and for 10 years bein in possession, still doesn't confer ownership on her. Legally, she has no title to d land, unless of cus she proves it with a right of occupancy or a certificate of occupancy, in the absence of that, her right lines marginally in equity. Abeg I don tire to type. Not sure Linda will even post this comment, most importantly, my legal opinion is not free. Make I sleep small first
Deletethey wont help us and they wont let someone else help us, i hope they have given her another place to set up her workshop if not... God will judge sha.
ReplyDeleteHuman Rights Activists?Where re u guys?Pls come and fight for this woman oooo!
ReplyDeleteI'm an activist but one has to apply common sense. Is she d owner of d land? If yes then we can occupy Lagos state govt. Pls be guided accordingly.
DeleteWhy is it an outrage? The NGO does not own the property! While the initiative is admirable, it does not give her the right to property. She needs to teach her wards a thing or two about living within the confines of the law - get your own property.
ReplyDeleteRubbish nigerian government does'nt value gud tins foolish pple if dis stuff about ist female auto mechanic happens abroad it will b appraised by all dis stupid govt and it will b all over d news but dey lyk seein dis country in backwardness.
ReplyDeleteHummmmmmmmmmm!!! being a lady mechanic and employ several woman does it make it right to occupy a government land? God save us from criticism.
ReplyDeletePls, your write up is one sided, put sentiment aside, the question is "WHAT IS HER PROOF OF OWNERSHIP" i didn't see anywhere it was mentioned in your report. your reasons will not get her the land in court without proof of ownership.
ReplyDeleteLol, okwa this ur comment, what do u mean by"what is her proof of ownership" lol
DeleteThats despicable! the government shld try to envourage dese people who try to make a change. It just so happens that I'm first to comment :)

ReplyDeleteDumbass like you. I bet you don't know what fundamental human right is.
DeleteThis is just bullshit, the so called government cannot provide employment to the masses and now here is someone willing to help get girls off the street and empower them and they try to run her out of business. Pathetic lot
ReplyDeletethis the reason Nigeria wont move forward, because our government av refused to open their eyes to development and change, this is someone who helps cut down poverty rate in her little but encouraging capacity, this is not so fair and something quick should be done about it.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing i can say is naija girls needs works big time and again big ups to the woman running this mechanic. Wish i can help but we are coming it might be slow but we will come like a boom and the whole africa will hear us and this nonsense with women will deffo stop
ReplyDeleteThat's INSANE! The government that does not care about empowering the youths. Please, is there a way we can contribute to pay for a lawyer/new premises. OMG that's SO infuriating
ReplyDeleteSentiments aside; Igovernment property is property that actual government buildings are on (and the surrounding area) while public property is like forest preserves and city parks.
ReplyDeleteSo "government property" would function more like private property and be controlled by whatever government agency or division is relegated there while a city park or forest preserve is your "public property" which, of course, is still subject to rules but it is generally open to the public.
This ppl must be crazy! Y wont dey surpport dis woman 4 God sake! Dis country nawaaaoooh!
ReplyDeletetoo bad
ReplyDeleteThis ppl must be crazy! Y wont dey surpport dis woman 4 God sake! Dis country nawaaaoooh!
ReplyDeleteAs much as i love you Linda, sometimes your reporting is useless....If she did not pay for the land, the land does not belong to her. The rightful owners of the land have a right to cliam it. Can you imagine if she was doing the same with your papa's land, i am sure the tone of your report would be different.
ReplyDeleteOnly God will judge our so called leaders.
ReplyDeleteOnly God will judge our so called leaders.
ReplyDeleteAdverse possession is a principle of real estate law whereby somebody who possesses the land of another for an extended period of time may be able to claim legal title to that land. The exact elements of an adverse possession claim may be different in each state.
ReplyDeleteTo prove adverse possession under a typical definition, the person claiming ownership through adverse possession must show that its possession is actual, open, notorious, exclusive, hostile, under cover of claim or right, and continuous and uninterrupted for the statutory period. These terms have special legal meanings as legal "terms of art", meaning that their definition for purposes of adverse possession law may be different from a definition you would find in a standard dictionary.
Please note that real estate laws can vary significantly between jurisdictions. Adverse possession is now usually governed by statute, and the law, definitions of terms, and the applicable statute of limitations can vary significantly between jurisdictions.
Definitions
As previously mentioned, the definition of "adverse possession" involves legal "terms of art" - words which have a special legal meaning that may differ from their standard definitions. The elements of "adverse possession" are that possession of the real estate is actual, open, notorious, exclusive, hostile, under cover of claim or right, and continuous and uninterrupted for the statutory period.
Actual - You actually acted in the manner of an owner of the property.
Open & Notorious - You engage in acts of possession consistent with the property at issue in a manner which was capable of being seen. (This does not mean that you must have been observed in
Exclusive - The adverse possessor does not occupy the land concurrent with the true owner or share possession in common with the public. One does not have to exclude others from the land in order to claim "exclusive" use, but during the statutory period the person claiming title by adverse possession must have been the only person to treat the land in the manner of an owner.
Hostile - Hostility exists where a person possesses the land of another intending to hold to a particular recognizable boundary regardless of the true boundary line. That is, possession is "hostile" to the title owner's interest in the property. If possession was not hostile, it may still be possible to advance a claim of ownership under a theory of "acquiescence". You cannot claim "adverse possession" if you are engaged in the permissive use of somebody else's land.
Continuous & Uninterrupted - All elements of adverse possession must be met at all times through the statutory period in order for a claim to be successful. It may be possible to claim adverse possession even if there is a transfer of ownership through the principle of "tacking" - for example, a former owner's twelve years of adverse possession can be "tacked" to the present owner's eight years, for a cumulative twenty years of
Common Defenses to Adverse Possession
While the following list is far from exhaustive, these defenses are very often brought in adverse possession actions:
Permissive Use - If the actual owner has granted the claimant permission to use the property, the claim of "adverse possession" cannot be deemed "hostile" and thus fails.
Public Lands - Government-owned land may be exempt from adverse possession
Why u dey waste ur talent for hia?go dey write novel na abi which one be all dis looooong story?
DeleteLinda, pls if there is a way you
ReplyDeleteCan get this across to the Lagos state gov ASAP would help. Its for reasons such as this, people like u
have a voice. 40 policemen to seal up a shop run by a woman who single handedly has invested in these ladies lives? This is outrageous and apsurd. Hope the word goes out soon enough.
No one single handedly does things like that. She is an NGO certainly being sponsored by international bodies. I'm quite certain she saw a day like this coming and must have been served adequate notice.
DeleteI tire for nigerians oh....if that place was a brothel....the police men would have left it alone
ReplyDeleteHmmmmnn Nawa oh! This our Government sha, disgraceful government......Human Rights Lawyers please help her.
ReplyDeleteSee Nigeria very useless place.
ReplyDeleteEven if na Government own the land they should be happy the Lady is using it for something better.
Training Girls to be Mechanic no be easy work.
If too say she dey train dem to be Ashewo no one will close that place down instead they will patronize her....rubbish!!!
I pray someone steps in to help this situation. NA WA for 9ga dem suppose they praise her and give her award.....instead they want to rub her out of business....
I really wish the government would understand that we all know its the governments land, but in all she is using the land not for her self enrichment, but for the betterment of a huge number of citizens who really needs the help she offers... Government of Nigeria, please the least you could do is to support her even if its giving the land to her and monitor her activities and progress... Actually in lots of countries governments support initiatives like this, but she is doing it solo.... c'mon fashola, the least you could do is support and encourage this Strong lady i beg you in the name of God.... Frank Dibia
ReplyDeletethe main question is...who does the land belong to legally? does it belong to the woman or the goverment?
ReplyDelete#InOtherNews: Big ups to the lady, she is doing Great!
Fine the place belongs to the govt abi since they are not blind to see her impact on women then they should provide her another place elsewhere.....or do this so called govt even care about the Masses
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. Fashola will give the land to Tinubu or one of his boys to build luxury apartments for their private pockets. After all that's what he has done with all of govt land in Ikoyi-vi-Lekki.
ReplyDeleteTinubu, Fashola and them them all want the land. Land in that part of Lagos is always hot cake. Does she have the C of O and even if she does they can revoke it. Dictators!
ReplyDeleteGovvt should pls try and resolve the case. At least she has provided job to people.
ReplyDeleteThis would be the first time am angry at Fashola's government. They should be encouraging her not discouraging her. She should relax it will be alright.
ReplyDeleteIf i were a PDP member, i would look for land and give her. This will put the present party on their toes.
This vibrant girls have just be sent back to the streets.
ReplyDeleteif i post linda wil nt publish it y linda?
ReplyDelete40 police men just to seal up a woman shop, naija police will never change if it was armed robbers those fools will be no where to be found, I know their problem after watching the Boston bomber manhunt they want to do Victoria island version so we can say they are working. Bunch of failure
ReplyDeleteWhile u at it,you can also take a quick look at this rare celebrity Picture
ReplyDeleteThere is no sentiment in land issues!
ReplyDeleteIf its not hers she should get off it or beg.Shikenan!
This is the problem I have with the Lagos State govt.. Every land belongs to them.. Even your own house, don't be surprised that one day wen you get bak from work, your house will be sealed because 'it belongs to the Lagos State govt' its getting very annoying.. If there is no more land, they should create more land by extendin Lagos, not taking over people's land just because they have power..
ReplyDeleteThis occurrence is one too many.
bad gov...we shud protest and support ds woman.
ReplyDeleteI feel for her and the ladies she is training. Sentiments aside however, facts are sacred...does she own the property or not??? If she actually has documented proof of ownership, then she will definitely be compensated either in cash or relocated to another piece of land. I find it hard to believe that government agents simply appeared on her property and sealed it off without notice.
ReplyDeleteLinda, you are a pseudo-journalist so do some work getting all sides of the story before publishing skewed stories like this that could misinform the public.
Please, let us be the change that we desire!!!
i guess dis said place has been a big bush, now that the place is habitable, na now dey no say na government get am, i will ask the woman to look for some pepo to join her in a peaceful protect to the government house and see d governor and tell him d good dat she has been rendering to helpless girls through dat place even if its their land, is d government not for d pipo, Let see what will happen next, Linda its not about posting it here, physicaly join in dis fight, am not in Lag i for go..country sister
ReplyDeleteI am sure when everthing comes to light she will have her shop back and if needs be, relocate then to an apporpiate land of their own.
ReplyDeleteThe govt cannot pay people like Sandra to do what she does, so they will have to give her the shop back and allow her to continue training these ladies. I wonder though why she did not make any attemtps to acquire the land free and clear after so long.
It is really amazing how Nigerians are just very difficult to adapt to change! I mean, this is a very simple case, if she has the papers for the property, she should take the government to court! Otherwise, she should just enter into negotiation with the government to see how they can resolve the issue. As far as \i am concerned, the governemtn has done nothing wrong!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that she has been occupying th land for 10years does not make her thelandlord if she doesnt have the accurate papers!
Please let us have a heart for positive change!
I think the best thing Lagos govt can do to assist the NGO is to allow the mechanic workshop to notify its customers. The govt can then move them to another location. They should encourage the empowerment programme.
ReplyDeleteGenerally,if Nig Govt can provide employment and empower Nig youths, kidnapping n robbery incidences will reduce.May God help our country.
All you IDIOTS that are saying she should just go to court should go kill yourselves. Do you know what it is to be an entrepreneur in that climate? in a country like Nigeria ? most importantly in a city like Lagos? As a female?
ReplyDeleteI don't care if Linda is biased I'm sorry. We are dealing with Nigeria here so the burden is on the government to handle something like this with care. The trust factor with the Government is in the toilets.
You ppl are so dumb it gives me an ulcer. you act like we actually have a Court or judicial system that works. Tell me where you have heard of any case in any Nigerian court where all the stupid bureaucracy and bribery won't let you want to shoot somebody. Yet you idiots sit there and talk about well too bad for her. she should do this and do that. Are you kidding me? Her story is lauded all over the world and is such an inspiration. We need to champion ppl like her because as you all know we have very few bright spots to be proud of.
Nigeria, always 1 step forward, 50 steps back... Because of imbeciles like you who have failed to challenge the status quo...
Ameeeeen!
DeleteYou can make your point without insulting people tho'. What's the need for fool imbecile idiot in this now?!?
DeleteOh well...you can take a person out of the gutter but you can never take the gutter out of a gutter person! #EOD
Those people involved in the closure of that workshop are enemies of progress. Bunch of heartless fools...
ReplyDeleteAll na drama, dey'l release it soon
ReplyDeleteLagos state government are bastard them don't want anything good from anyone help the less-privileged once God will fight for her..steadyman say so
ReplyDeletePls those of u saying linda is not reasonable I refuse to allow u insult linda, coz all linda is saying is @ least leave the roof over their heads while the matter is been settled, why lock up the place leaving young ladies on the streets without shelter shekenah,u are there talking baldaldash
ReplyDeleteOur govt are just hypocrites. You cnt provide yet u take away from those who manage to get. Mtvhewwwww
ReplyDeleteHave you checked my ste blog yet? Do so now on www.soladunn.blogspot.com
Being sentimental in this case is not out of place.
ReplyDeleteThe land might not be hers but I feel the government should give it to her if it's not hers. She has put it to good use.
What nonsense are u people talking about the land belongs to d government bla bla bla who is the government if i may ask? She is doing something even d so calld govt refused to do helping these girls and reducing povity rate in d country, all d lands/ oil money and other things d so calld govt has taken frm d citizens is nt enough can't they live this tiny land for her and d girls y is dis nigerian leaders so heartless u guys are support them saying govt land who is d govt is what she is doing not important, y must d govt take everything frm d citizen, i don't care who owns d land d should let her have it since she is helping d govt do their work by creating job for d those poor girls. Unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely an outrage and another reason why Nigeria, with all the talented and resourceful people like the Lady Mechanic, is not moving forward. My issue with this is not a matter of ownership of the land. Even if it's the govt. that owns the land, what do they want to do with it now? They can't create jobs for the youth and women in general so why stop someone that is doing so? It's definitely about money...someone has figured out a way to gain from destroying this promising enterprise and initiative and its a shame the govt. has no interest in the progress and comfort of the people.
ReplyDeleteY do u peeps put sentiments into everything ? D first question to ask is who owns d land? Fashola knows d law, dont thing he cud jst wake up one day to claim d land dat belongs to ds woman.u cannt rob peter to pay Paul, shes into NGO at her own free will,d GOVT didnt impose it on her,nd as such,we shldnt xpect them nt to do their wprk. If u guys like abuse me,its nt gonna change d situation on ground. Let her face d reality,ur sympathy wont get d land bak to her,if d land isnt hers.
ReplyDeleteKai Nija sef. Make they wake up o
ReplyDeleteYes,we av a bad govt, yes,d land may b used by d govt to enrich deir pockets ,NO d land does nt belong to d woman. Sentiments apart!
ReplyDeleteSo sad. She has to really be strong for her girls.I believe it can be settled in court amicable.I commend her effort!
ReplyDeleteLinda just yesterday, on our way back from church service, my husband and i took notice of several sign post mounted around by the Lagos State Government, claiming ownership of some lands around there, one of which is a saw-mill around Agege and we were discussing about it. I just hope this fate isn't about to befall them as people's businesses are at stake. I feel so bad for Sandra, even if the said land belongs to the Lagos State Government, cant they let it go for a worthy cause? Can't there possibly be some negotiations, and probably a relocation? Our Government is stifling businesses in Nigeria, investors are afraid to put their into any business, companies are folding up and thousands of Nigerian youths are roaming the streets unemployed. Fashola banned bikes, yet touts *Agberos* are all over the garages, inflating transport fare and constituting public nuisance. Na waoh *smh* for this country.
ReplyDeleteLINDA, your sentitments have certainly clouded your judgement,....or maybe its too much licky licky that is worrying your reasoning. DOES THE LAND BELONG TO HER? WHAT IS HER PROOF OF OWNERSHIP? Yes the initiative is good but you dont encroach on someonelse's property and expect not to be booted out because your cause is a worthy one. Nonsense and ingredients.
ReplyDeletePple can be so foolish, all u idiots dat re sayin if d land is nt her's she shld return it shekina,am sure ur fools dat re sitting down eating daddy's food, collecting pocket money n still hiding behind ur mother's skirts with no real idea of d level of poverty out ere hw much pple re sufferin n go hungry,n er comes a woman who's tryin 2 make a little difference in dis women's life n d government is tryin 2 cut dat short bcos of a mer issue of land, dis land's dat government officials gift 2 em selves every day in secret is wat d want 2 use 2 take food out of pple's mouth, wen wld d sufferin in dis country reduce is ere ever goin 2 be any form of growth or a way forward,d govt shld be ashamed of dis very action, she shld be given an award n 2 be condemned by any one cos she's accomplishing dat which d govt it self has'nt been able 2 do successfully due 2 greed n pure wickedness
ReplyDeleteNow you all have seen why Nigeria won't progress. It's the people. Half of the comments here are annoying. I respect the different opinions here but.... are you guys serious??? Take what to the court?? Do we have courts in Nigeria?? How much money will she use to pursue case?? How long will it take?? Na wah for una ooo....
ReplyDeleteWhere has the government been for TEN years?? Where...that's the same thing they do to small businessess....any small thing na government land. They use power to bully the poor!Instead of us to think of a solution we are blaming the woman....haba...
Nigeria is a failed state because of her people. No one wants change nor will they support it...
what a shame!! what is Fashola doing about this?
ReplyDeleteSome people here are just plain stupid and foolish. did Linda ever say dat she owned d land . pls try and read well before u post ur quater baked comments.. instead of applauding d lady and supporting her u are telln her to go to court like it will do her any good weda she is d owner or not.... Whoever is trying to drive her away dere is a stupid fool for not recognizing wat she is doing for the society.... The Govt should call her for a dialogue so daey can come to an agreement intead of dis barbaric act.........
ReplyDeleteWatch the next move when she secures her own land is to send armed robbers to go cripple her spirit. Christ its 2013 we still can't support our own progress? Upon all the money govt spend frivolously abroad to show off
ReplyDeleteFine, if the land belongs to govt, they shld av a placed on delivery for period of time and give her enough time to get a place before the sudden eviction. Atleast negiotiate with the woman since she's using to assist youths vocationally in other to decrease poverty, lessen criminality and prostitution.. Abegi govt sha
ReplyDeleteThey did this to my uncle after he built his house and lived in for 3 years. Nonsense.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. She has to really be strong for her girls.I believe it can be settled in court amicable.I commend her effort!
ReplyDeletePardon Linda, she is not a journalist, just a blogger, so she doesn't know how to balance her reports. She did the same thing with the Solomon Akiyes wedding. Her report was bias.
ReplyDeleteThis lagos state government and land issue. The last time they were asking Christ Embassy to vacate a land that was legally purchased by the church and now they want to spoil the good work this woman is doing. They can give free land to footballers yet can't assist an individual who is helping the country.
ReplyDeletechai,,why now,,,fashola leave dis woman alone....
ReplyDeleteNigeria is full of shit, if d see dat you are progressing they must look for a way to drag you down.my dear sandra they just sealed your shop not your life,God will see you through.
ReplyDeleteLINDA YOU TOO DEY ACT LIKE PERSON WEY NO GO SCHOOL. IF NA YOUR PAPA LAND DEY FOR VI, YOU GO LET AM STAY THERE BECAUSE SHE DON DEY THERE SINCE 10 YRS AGO?
ReplyDeleteWITH ALL THE MONEY SHES MADE IM SURE SHE CAN BUY LAND IN A DECENT PLACE ON THE MAINLAND. BETTER STILL PAY ANY LAND OWNER IN THE AREA TO OPERATE ON HIS/HER LAND
I am glad there a still sensible people who comment on this blog and put sentiments aside despite when the reporter sounds partial in her report. Question is does she have proof of title? secondly, the government wouldn't wake up one day and send police men to her, she must have received multiple notices asking her to vacate the land. What should she have done then? That was when she should have called activist in to ask and PLEAD with the government to either let her remain or give her and alternative land since she is doing such an honorary work and helping the less privileged. As much as i applaud her for her continuous effort in doing good and helping people she ought to do it the right way.
ReplyDeleteSentiments apart, I should think that wether government property or not, the lady mechanic initiative should be encouraged by all and sundry considering the benefit of such venture to mankind. Government should consider allocating that property to her in a subsidized rate so as to encourage her initiative. She's been doing quite a tremendous job with that initiative of hers, let's encourage and support her!!
ReplyDeleteEverybody don open mouth yakata. For those commentors opening their ulcer lacerated mouths and saying d land is not hers, no sentiments... Bal d bla, bla! May thunder lighten, blow and lick your rotten bowels. Ekwensu! Is it wrong if Fashola/Lagos state government has a dialogue with her, ascertain the real ownership of the land/T&C of occupancy and allow her use the land just to support her and say "hey thanks for your contributions we are here when you need help"? In what way will that said piece of property enrichen Lagos state government? Who is the government? A piece of property, a person representing an office or the people of the country(Nigerians)? Even if she got to the said piece of property illegally, what are dialogues meant for? Open mouth and promise better life when the people are nudged towards a worse life than yesterday's? All you who open your rigourously polluted mouths and saying no sentiments... Ki ni ko, ki ni ko... Na una, YES! Na una dey cause why Nigeria no go better. Another bad/negative publicity for Naija, una never notice say CNN carry d news. Anu ofia! Ekwensu lacha gi anya! Linda, better post my comment. No holding back! I dey vex for this matter. See woman wey get dream say Naija go better and in her little way living the truth of "change begins with you!" By contributing to the society and someone is talking abt sentiments. Fashola and him people dey fall my hand. Gbam! Kpere!
ReplyDeleteAnon 5:19 na God go bless you. That's why i do not like to read nigerian blogs because of the negetivity. For example when omotola got a minor role in US instead of supporting her we started to insult her. Can't we support our own?? Will it kill us to encourage people?? Truth is our people are sadists. Very wicked and heartless. We only want to hear bad news. No one is happy when you succeed but once you fail they will start to celebrate. The import question is WHAT'S THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. HOW CAN WE HELP HER. Please stop insulting Linda. If you do not like her posts go to another blog!!
DeleteIS THIS NOT THE TYPE OF GOOD DEED THEY SHOULD BE ENCOURAGING IN NIGERIA? THE LAND SHOULD BE GIVEN TO HER FOR FREE.
ReplyDeleteSTUPID GOVERNMENTS.
"tipslodge.com said... linda the fact that she has been on that land for 10 years does not mean..."
ReplyDeleteI concur. Way too many mechanics and artisans in Lagos lay claim to parcels of land that seemingly appear 'useless'.
Those who come to equity must come with clean hands. What she needs to do is 'settle' the govt for 10yrs of unpaid 'rent' and negotiate future terms.
All this blowing hot and cold plus sound and fury amounts to naught.
my 2 cents
A land near 1004 Estate will cost millions of Nigeria. Linda you claimed to have spoken to her. Is she really the owner of the land? Linda, you seems to suffering from Robin Hood mentality. Nobody has the right to 'kidnap' government land.
ReplyDeleteGovernment land or not. See the number of police men that came there with guns like it was a boko haram invasion. We keep chasing shadows instead of substance. I bet these police men can't face a water gun if pointed @ them with water coming out of it. She's doing a good job. Couldn't the government handle it in a more responsible and reasonable way order than this? If they need her to pay they should say, but this drama isn't necessary. How many of the officials occupy or take things that rightfully belongs to them. Hypocrites!
ReplyDeleteAll of you talking, do you know what a land in vi costs? Must every business be on the island? That being said, i think she just got comfortable all this time because she has free space to run her business. People with less impactdul NGO's have gotten a lot of help from government and the private sector. She should simply document her successes and seek help from well meanng nigerians. I am positive she will get a lot of help, even from lagos 1st lady, its a worthy cause so she will surely get help
ReplyDeleteSo for 10 years the government didn’t know that the land was theirs? And Tinubu doesn't count as the government, because that is who will end up with the land.
ReplyDeleteAnd 40 people just to seal up the place? If there were armed robbers u wouldn't see one of them. And they wouldn't lock it up if it was a brorhel.
People saying that she should go to court are dreaming. Since when did the Justice system work well in Nigeria? Of course she will lose in the courts, papers or not.
Maybe she had offended one local champion politician that is using power to mess her up as is usual in Nigeria
This woman has done a lot to empower young girls in this country she did not charge any of them a dime how do the government in power pay her they go ahead and shut her down nigerians should remember that CNN did a special report on this woman that was watched all over the world she brought nigerian to positive lime light even if the land is for government what is wrong if they give her that land to continue her humanitarian work, idiots instead dey go ahead and kick her out with over 100 police men the woman thief if dey see real theif police go takeoff we know how the government has appropriated state lands and given it out to their cohorts free of charge this is the case i expect joy odumakin femi falana and festus keyamo to fight
ReplyDeleteFine the land belongs to the govt and she has no title deed. The fact remains that she has been providing a source of employment for women, training them and keeping them away from the streets, the govt should relocate her to a better permanent site based on her good deeds.
ReplyDeleteDino Melaye human rights activists where are you all please fight for this lady and her workers else they will go back to where they came from and it will not be a laughing matter!
The fact she has stayed there for ten years, does not transfer ownership to HER,She get c of o? gbam!!!!!
ReplyDeleteShe is a squatter on the land she got to go period.
ReplyDeleteGo back to your village... Igbos are bullies, Yoruba pple r this, yoruba pple are that, go to your cleaner landlock states and be the heroes you want to be.
ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion: The face of the policman man-handling the office manager is showing. How about making the dude pay for his stupid actions by shaming him on social media?
ReplyDeleteGuys, pls eat this guy alive mehn!
This is wrong. It is old news to say that Nigeria intentionally shut down positive initiatives in order to further corruption. I cannot think of any other benefit the government intends for that space of land that it cannot achieve in another location without affecting Lady Mechanic. Those multimillion naira projects the First Lady embarks on should promote this sort of innovations rather than countless white elephant projects. I sincerely believe that this situate should be brought to the notice of the Lagos State Governor, as i believe he will do something about it to salvage the situation. And yes i do have faith in the Lagos State governor. I cannot be sure what happened with this land or how come its been shut down but i believe Sandra and the few well meaning Lagosians should appeal to the Governor to rescind this action. We should have more people like the Lady Mechanic and those who cannot be like her would do well to encourage the likes of her. The narrow and impoverished minds of the so-called wealthy (ill begotten wealth) in Nigeria has been a curse to them and the nation. All you need do is travel out of the country, read world reports, read about world development and you see exactly how low, common, backward and poor the Nigeiran is (both the poor and the wealthy), we are all after all Nigerians. Let us promote oneness and good of all. I pray the situation is resolved and i wish Sandra strength to see this situation through. God bless us all.
ReplyDeleteNigeria ehnn? someone is helping with employment, youth empowerment, helping the society and this is how she is rewarded. it is well.

if the land belongs to govt really there is no sentiment, but govt cud sell the property at a reasonable prize to her
ReplyDeleteMy question is, did she buy the land? From who? because staying their for 10 years dose not make the land her's!! If her papers are genuine she can take the Lagos state government to court!
ReplyDeleteShe must have annoyed one useless government official who then remembered that she was staying on LASG land. Useless government.
ReplyDelete#vicktoriahcallisto# "d lady mechanic is helpn ds young girls, bin a philanthrophist and mentor and nw govt cums out of nowhr and says its dr land, whr av dey bin fr d past 10 yrs , dts hw dey left pple homeless wif ds dr rubbish land ownership. choiiii!!career killers oshi..i rest ma case...#redeemers uni#
ReplyDeletewe ask for good the few that God has given us this selfish government will come and take it away. May our oil dry up amen.
ReplyDeleteMy problem is with the location. Why put such a project at Ikoyi? Why not anoda place where there are poor people who would need the service. That project does not belong regardless of who owns the property.
ReplyDeletethe land doesnt belong to her,so why u guys blaming the government?

If she hs been dr 4 10yrs it bn she got a rite to it.cos dere ws a govt b4 ds present govt.y dint d past govt seal d place ,it means she own it.use ur brain u al.do uu fink she wud jst set up biznes on sm1 land.habaaa
ReplyDeleteI CAN'T BELIEVE SOME BLOGS HERE "NO SENTIMENTS" " BIASED REPORTING". YOU BASTARDS WERE GIVEN BIRTH TO BY A LIZARD. THATS WHY YOU ARE ABLE TO SEE THE LOGIC IN THIS CRIME. YOU CAN ALWAYS TELL WHO HAS SOLD HIS SOUL/PEOPLE AND HUMANITY TO THE DEVIL BECAUSE THEY BECOME VERY LOGICAL.
ReplyDeleteTHE REAL BIASE HERE IS THE RICH vs POOR. OUR NATION HAS NO SHAME THIS STORY IS NOW INTERNATIONAL AND YOU BASTARDS WILL CONTINUE TO LOOK LIKE BABOONS TO THE REST OF THE WORLD. NO SENTIMENTS MY ASS!!!!!! TELL GOD THAT WHEN YOU ARE DYING OF SOME ILLNESS BROUGHT ON BY GREED.
Well just for the good she does, the government should allocate her a new plot or give her an option to buy the current property...
ReplyDeleteThe land does not belong to her linda. Infact it is a crime 4 acquiring govt land without any authority. Awever, who gave dat place to her? For d fact dat she has been there 4 donkey years does not make a d owner now, she must be a thief. See, we need to be careful and watchful in everything we re doing.govt should drag her ass to cout. She must confess who gave her d place. Besides, linda, hope they re not doing anything illegat in dat place, u know nigeria now. That place must be ranksacked very well. For a barr. To be a mecho manager dat is crazy.
ReplyDeleteI believe her good intentions will fight for her...
ReplyDeleteIf anyone knows if LG will be selling, please share the details... its a wonderful location and l've always wondered about it! - Ladi
ReplyDeleteWhy are 'educated' people making these type of comments? The fact that she had been using the land for 10 years does not equate to owning the land! We have illegal squatters on government land all over the country. If she is sure about real ownership, let her go to the court. Linda, as much as we like you, this was a major goof from you! Why dig up hate against Lagos State Government for no reason? No sentiments, people!!!
ReplyDeleteSome of u are saying she shd take govt 2 court...as if u don't knw 9ja...mschew yeye de smell...May God help her sha

Useless one sided story. So because na woman mechanic make she go dey claim any land wey she see? If to say na you get the land, you no go kick am comot? Na wa for Nigerians and their ways of reasoning. Fact is this woman doesn't own the land and the government has the right to kick her out of the place if they want to use the land. This shouldn't even be in the news at all. So what if she employs female mechanics? Imagine what Naija will look like if we all could just go and occupy and use any piece of land that we feel like. You guys insulting Fashola are sick in the head!
ReplyDeletewhile i admire her courage and what she has done with the lady mechanic initiative, linda dont try and portray her as a saint.....with her history i know of her i.e she and her one time boyfriend sending girls abroad for prostitution and being diabolical it is possible she has been there as a squatter all these years......if she has her legal papers she should go to court...God will help her fight the battle if its her rightful land...
ReplyDeleteQuite sad situation!
ReplyDeleteWe can all stand and discuss Legalities all day long and that the land belongs to government!
But the truth is, this matter is more than that.
What is right and wrong?
Government give land to unworthy and so called "friends" and Big guns all the time. In fact my own land that I used my hard earned money and sweat to buy was allocated to a powerful individual and government's "friend" Matter is in court. But why should I have to spend money and time to get back what was rightfully mine in the first place?
What did I do to deserve that treatment from government?
This situation may not be exactly the same, but there is an injustice happening here.
They can give free land to footballers and all sorts yet they cannot help a woman that has greatly helped Nigeria's image abroad.
They should provide an alternative for this good work to continue.
I believe very soon, we will see that same land in the hands of very very rich individuals, who will use it to make even more money for their pockets.
Naija, when will you change???
Nonya
ReplyDeleteNa you sick in the head o!
Linda is allowed to have her own opinion o!

I got to know the Lady Mechanic on the Frank Olize’s show way back and we all have followed this woman closely over the years and we go…, nice job (well, maybe me) and that is all but I recently met another Lady Mechanic (not Sandra) who fixed my car, a Lagosian at Lekki, who told me she was trained by the Lady Mechanic. I was impressed and truth is my respect for the Lady Mechanic (Sandra Aguebor) shot up.
ReplyDeleteGuys, pls try to recall that the Lady's garage was torched by the same Lagos State Govt over a decade ago (this also made the news back then) and we understand the Lagos Govt relocated her to the current site. Thing is, there is a way to handle such matters and I just seem to have a problem with the fact that the same office that ought to support her is working at destabilising her. The same office that gave her a temporary site also sent another department of the same system to throw her out. If she has overstayed her welcome, pls let her know and nicely too but do not treat her with disrespect. She churns out tax payers in droves; over 250 as we speak, her website quotes training close to 300 young girls and women. This is even a waste land for crying out loud! Pls treat her with some respect as we know she is a reasonable, respectable and responsible citizen. We equally know that the dog handler can call off the dogs from barking or biting. Governor Fashola Sir, as it is in your character to be conscientious and just, please look into this matter as we trust you would.
my dad has an auto shop that is why i always want to on a training school so i could help my dad in his business..
