Lekki Wives: A must watch drama series

Lekki Wives, written, produced, and directed by Blessing Egbe is a drama series following the lives and conditions of five women living, visiting and working in highbrow Lekki axis of Lagos. The women will portray very significant and shocking issues trending in some parts of the axis and will bring to fore the very many troubles of some of its residence which is presented as the norm and has become a supposedly amiable trend.

It's an in-dept look at the crazy things that some married men and women get up to in Lagos. A lot of dirty secrets are revealed in this drama series. It's different. It's real life. It's authentic. Here's the Synopsis:
They move up the ladder in leaps and put the meal on the table. They hop on and off countless beds and enjoy the upside of being trophy wives...
They experience the price of change and must now find ways of dealing with the outcome.
It features Adaora Ukoh, Katherin Obiang, Chinonso Young, Kiki Omeili and Keira Hewatch. You can only watch it online for now - HERE. See more photos after the cut...

  5. Copy copy! Desperate housewives mimicking here, lol... Well as long as they tend to give it a feel of our culture and the distinct issues surrounding Nigerian wives it would surely be a best seller like how Desperate housewives made waves over there in the states.

    9. If u ask me, I think what corneremperor was trying to say is, for it to be realistic and authentic, they shld av created a yoruba xter in there especially cos Lagos is a yoruba state. The xter doesn't even av to be yoruba in real life but at least carry a yoruba name and xteristics. Let's face it, u're likely to see a yoruba woman in every five women out of Lekki.

It is like Desperate Housewives and there isn't a monopoly on 'wives genre' if not there won't be 'Basketball Wives', 'Football wives', 'The Good wife', 'Te starter wife' 'Army Wives', etc. So I don't see why you guys are disturbing yourselves. Did they shut down those shows becos there was already desperate house wives???

You Nigerians are the ones that kill yourselves in the name of over-sabi. Appreciate what has been done and critique meaningfully if you want to and have to. It is a trend in the world to do these shows and the last time I looked, Nigerians were the largest trend copiers, good and bad. If you were winter coat in Naija, what's a TV show?

The concept started with ABC's Desperate Housewives. Bravo copied and adapted it to be a reality show. They then copied it and placed in different cities. VH1 then copied it and made it urban Basketball Wives and Love and hip hop. Lifetime copied and made it into a drama Army Wives. TLC just copied it and made it preachers wives.

So again why not copy what works?

  82. Comments on this blog is the epitome of the problems we face as a country and a generation

1)We jump into conclusions without thoroughly examining the facts or in this case reading the full abstract of this show.
The show clearly isn't intended to be a replica of "desperate House wife" "Basketball Wife" or "Real House wife". The are actresses and not real housewife...surprise (its a TC drama not reality TV)

    2) If we feel we need to make a comment either informed or ill-informed we do we have to insult one another? in this case Linda? He personal life shouldn't be brought into this...

3)There are some comments i read that i believe are from kids under 12 but if you are a grown man or woman and are making such comments, i fear for the future of our country.

4)Lastly, is there a rule that says women who live in Lekki must be pretty and a size 2?

I think this show is different and it definitely got my attention and I'm curious enough that i will pay to watch the entire season

  83. Msheeeeeew.... to all of you saying rubbish about this "drama or is it sitcom". this is very innovative, go and pay and watch it online rather than type rubbish for free on this blog. I love the cast, the video quality, the script, the selected location infact i love their costume selection unlike the "nyansh opening costume our"stars" like them Mercy Johnson, Tonto,Rukky Sanda etc" these ladies dress decently and their command of spoken English ...Bravo!! i just paid to watch episode 1-6 and i must say i had a good time watching Kathrine Obang, Adaora Okoh and the other 3 ladies. You people with bad mouth, try and appreciate good things, if you dont like go and produce your own lets see the rubbish u'll present. Lekki wives... sweeeeeet sit com. #talk to d hands# haters.

    1. I support you @Enne ! I live in the UK so I was skeptical about buying anything online associating with Naija lol,but after reading the countless negative feedback I decided to try and see what the fuss is all about. I have been glued to my IPad since. I can't see any copying of Desperate housewives here @ all neither is there any similarities to any o the characters ! Naija pple should learn to appreciate!

  86. I read most of your comments and it breaks my heart that people will just bash other people's work and in most cases don't have a clue what the show is about. Mama Tee put it into perspective for me. But just adding a few words here; I happen to be a proud cast member of that show and it was a privilege working with Blessing Egbe. I think she is one of Nollywood's talented writer/Director and she should be commended for her work. The Nollywood Industry is growing and she is one of the new generation film makers making a difference.
We need to learn to appreciate what people like her are doing and encourage her, because like it or not we Nigerians/Africans want to hear our stories. Other countries have their own stories and they appreciate them, let us start to encourage and appreciate ours.
I love my industry, Nollywood, it doesn't pay anything close to what I earned living in the UK 14 months ago, but it is where my heart is and I will continue in this path whether it makes me a millionaire or not, all we (artist who are true to the art) want from you guys is a sense of appreciation and to be more constructive with your critiques.

Enough said, I am sure I am talking to a few, some people are stock in their ways and will never change, but if you are the few I am talking to, all we ask is that you give us a chance to improve and grow. We are getting there and be a bit more encouraging.

God bless you all. And those entertained, we hope we continue to thrill you (Smiles)
Catch me on Tinsel as well as Otah, Channel 151.

  87. Nice Idea, Keep on with the good work. however there is a chance for improvement. Its not really ideal that the series lacks a Yoruba woman as part of the main cast as Lekki is in Yoruba land and they are major occupants of that area too. A foreigner may also once in a while be introduce as Lekki can boast of hosting a lot of them. Well Done.
