Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2004, Anita Uwagbale Iseghoni, has given birth to her third child, a baby girl. Anita gave birth last night November 9th at Howard County General Hospital, Maryland. The baby has been named Moilen Alexandria Elizabeth. Anita already has two boys. Congrats to her and her hubby!

Facebook lover arraigned for attempted rape, murder

A 26-year-old man, who allegedly pushed down his Facebook lover from a multi-storey building over a disagreement over sex was arraigned in Lagos on Friday.

The accused,  Arthur Obiora, is facing a three-count charge of threat to life, attempted rape and attempt to cause bodily harm at a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor, ASP A. C. Orji, told the court that Obiora met Nkiruka Akabuogu on Facebook and invited her to a club house in Apapa where they had drinks. The prosecutor said the pair later moved to Obiora’s house at Block 10, Flat 317, 1004 Housing Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Orji said Obiora, who claimed to be an unemployed graduate of Igbinedion University Okada and the Centennial College, Ontario, Canada, shut all the doors in the apartment and demanded to have sex with Akabuogu.

The remains of Madam Sheila Solarin, the widow of  late educationist, Dr Tai Solarin, were buried today in Ikenne, Remo, Ogun State. The Mayflower school co-founder was buried beside the grave of her husband in the family's compound in Ikenne.

Sheila Solarin (Nee Tuer), died October 21st 2012 at the age of 88.

She has chosen to be silent on the true state of her condition because in Yoruba culture, it is more of a taboo for a married woman to publicly denounce or confirm if she’s pregnant or not. Funke's close friend told a PM News reporter that when the initial story with a picture of a supposed baby bump hit the internet claiming Funke was in her first trimester, she silently claimed it. She's definitely looking forward to being a mother.

Frank Edoho secretly re-marries?

I put a question mark there because I don't know for sure if they are married but the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host recently introduced Sandra Onyenaucheya as his wife. Not girlfriend or fiancee, as wife. He told guests at the unveiling of the new Heineken bottle which held at the Federal Palace hotel some days back, that he came to the event with his wife, Sandra, who was wearing a wedding band.

The couple went public last year after Frank Edoho ended his marriage with mother of his three children, TV gal, Katherine Edoho. Sandra, a mother of one, moved into Frank's VGC home sometime last year and there were reports that they planned to marry soon. Guess the deed has been done! Congrats to them!

Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has said he does not know any member of Boko Haram sect. He said this in an interview with journalists at his party’s national secretariat in Abuja yesterday during the party’s Board of Trustees meeting.

“I do not know any member of the Boko Haram sect. I do not believe and I do not know of any religion that will go and kill people, burn schools. They looked for Yusuf, they handed him over to the police; healthy young man and he died under a very dubious account in the police custody.

Ex beauty queen Chinenye Ochuba and husband lose Lagos home

Former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Chinenye Ochuba and her husband of four years, Kunle Akinlade, have lost their home located at Somolu close, Alakuko, Ijaiye in Lagos.

The house was built six years ago by Mr Akinlade but unfortunately the land he built the house on wasn't his, at least that was the court verdict when the owners of the land took Mr Akinlade to court.

A Lagos high court which had been presiding over the matter for a while now, issued an order in October asking the Akinlades to vacate the house.

Mr Akinlade unfortunately bought the land from fraudsters, and when the real owners showed up, they refused any compensations, insisting on getting their land back. They went to court and won.

And since you can't uproot a building from a land, Chinenye and her husband lost their home. They have since moved out of the house.

Residents of Langbasa, a community in Ajah area of Lagos, are accusing a woman in the neighbourhood of causing a grievous harm on her two-year-old stepdaughter. Kehinde, as she’s known, is in trouble for allegedly dipping the two hands of her little stepdaughter, Esther, into oven-hot water.

Department store collapse in Ghana turns deadly

 

5 people have been confirmed dead and 68 people pulled out alive from the multi-storey department store that collapsed in Ghana yesterday

A spokeswoman for Ghana's National Disaster Management Organization, said structural weakness had caused the collapse of the Melcom store in Accra's Achimota neighbourhood which was opened early this year and collapsed shortly before the store was due to open for business yesterday morning. Over a 100 people were in the 5-storey complex when it collapsed suddenly.

Rescue efforts is still going on at the site as workers say that they can hear noises from under the rubble and can see hands of people trapped. Sad!
