Introducing - Thomas Ikimi - The Nigerian Hollywood Movie Director

31 year old handsome movie director, Thomas Ikimi,  may not be known in Nollywood, but in Hollywood, the Nigerian movie director has made a name for himself as the first Nigerian to direct a Hollywood movie.

His movie, Legacy, featuring Idris Elba (featured above with Thomas) will be released in Nigeria later in the year.

Legacy will be showing next at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, followed by the American Black Film Festival in Miami.

Mini Bio
Thomas Ikimi was born in Westminster, London on April 10th 1979. He is of Nigerian descent. He attended primary school in Nigeria, prep and public school in England and university in America. He holds a literature and writing degree from Columbia University, New York.

Thomas' student film, 'Limbo' (2005), after a showing at the Cannes Film Market in 2005, was subsequently invited to the Taormina International Film Festival in Sicily, Italy as an Official Selection. It was one of only 12 films chosen worldwide, and had the added honour of opening the festival. This brought attention to Thomas due to the fact 'Limbo' only cost $9000 to produce mostly on his student credit card, and it was in a fest where the $153 million Batman Begins was premiering in Italy.

Thomas was a second year student when he wrote, directed and produced the film, balancing the 2 1/2 week shoot with his mid term exams. He was nominated for best director and best picture at the Eerie Horror Festival 2004, and he won the Honorable Mention Award at the Flint International Film Festival 2005. Thomas has been working as a screenwriter in London since 2005, writing and developing screenplays for producers.

Man kills wife's lover at their home...

An outraged husband, Abdullahi Adekunle a bricklayer (Pictured above with his wife) has been arrested by the Nigerian police, for killing his wife's lover, Musibau Olopade, who he caught with her inside their bedroom in Abudu village, Ilogbo-Ota, Ogun State.

The state Commissioner of Police, Musa Daura, who told the press at Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, said Adekunle faces charges of murder and would be prosecuted by the police authority for the death of Mr Olopade.

Mr Daura said on the fateful day, Mr Adekunle had gone to work, but returned home early to meet the deceased having sex with his wife on their matrimonial bed. A fight ensured between the two, and in the process, Mr Olopade was stabbed with a knife at the back and he died before getting to the hospital.

“When I returned home and noticed that the door to our room was locked from behind, I knocked severally, but there was no response. So I had to force the door open, and to my surprise I met the man having sex with my wife,” he said.

“It was at this stage that a fight ensured between me and the man, so I took a knife and stabbed him at the back when he was trying to bolt away. I never knew he would die of the attack.” The wife at the centre of the tragedy, Funmilayo Adekunle, said the deceased forced her into having sexual intercourse with him.

“He just entered our room when my husband was not around and forced me unto the bed before having sex with me,” she said.

The Most Successful Movie Franchise of All Time?

The most successful movie franchise of all time is no longer James Bond, it's now the "Harry Potter" series, which recently edged out James Bond.

According to Box Office Mojo, the first six adaptations of J.K. Rowling's beloved books have earned a staggering $5.4 billion worldwide.

The 22 films considered part of the official Bond canon have earned an estimated $5 billion globally.

Still, Bond is certainly Hollywood's greatest franchise in terms of endurance and longevity. Since the first Bond adventure, "Dr. No" in 1962, it has thrived for 48 years, although the 23rd Bond picture is reportedly on hold for now.

Bond may need to stick around awhile to have any chance of overtaking Potter.

"Star Wars" movies have earned $4.2 billion, coming third.**

"Chioma Chukwuka was demonic in camp" - Muma Gee

"Before Ultimate Search, I'd never been in contact with Chioma Akpotha. Maybe I'd only seen her in movies and I used to be her fan, a great fan because in movies she acts innocently. But trust me, she has lost a fan. I will never forget that girl till I die, till I enter my grave. With all she claimed to be, she's not my class, we are not from the same tribe, we don't share boyfriend, we don't drag anything. In the camp she was boasting she's married and I'm not married. Maybe she's the first to marry in life. She flung my things out of the tent (because of a misunderstanding with actor Emeka ike). I looked at her and cried almost ceaselessly. That pained me to the bone and I will never forget. Honestly, I've never suffered that kind of humiliation since I was born, not even when I was poor. Whatever pain I suffered that day will follow that girl. If Chioma would come and give me a billion dollars and I'm dying in poverty, I would rather die. She was really demonic in that camp".

Eminem's 'Not Afraid' enters the Hot 100 @ No1.

Eminem's "Not Afraid," the first single from his upcoming album Recovery, enters the Hot 100 at #1. It's the first song to debut in the top spot since Britney Spears "3" did it in October.

It's only the second rap song ever to debut at #1, following "I'll Be Missing You" by Puff Daddy & Faith Evans (featuring 112) in 1997.

"Not Afraid" is Eminem's third #1 on the Hot 100, following "Lose Yourself," his Oscar-winning smash from 8 Mile, and "Crack A Bottle," his all-star collaboration with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent.

"Not Afraid" sold 379,000 copies in its first week. That's the biggest weekly sales tally so far this year.  Only three songs in digital history have sold more copies in their first week. All were 2009 releases: Flo Rida's "Right Round" (636,000), Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow" (465,000) and the aforementioned "Crack A Bottle" (418,000).

Naked statues appearing around New York...

Something is afoot in the big apple. Curious statues have been appearing around New York, perching on top of buildings and apparently surveying the traffic pedestrians below. They are about 31 nude statues, made of iron and fiberglass.
