Lady Gaga Video Views Top 1 Billion And Break Record, Says Visible Measures

According to online analytics company Visible Measure, Lady Gaga has made internet history by racking up more than 1 billion total views for just three of her music videos posted online.

The company maintains a list that it calls "The 100 Million Views Club." It's populated by "franchises" and online videos that have achieved at least 100 million views and according to the Visible Measures, Gaga is the first to join the "The Billion Views Club."

The firm reports that the total number of views for for Gaga's music videos "Poker Face" (374,606,128 views), "Bad Romance" (360,020,327) and "Just Dance" (272,941,674) make her the "most watched franchise in history." According to Visible Measures, the "Twilight" series isn't far behind and boasts 980 million views.

Other performers and videos that have garnered huge amounts of online views include Souljaboy, Beyonce, and Michael Jackson. A screengrab of the company's top-10 on the "100 Million Club" list is posted below...

Really VM? Are these guys shitting me? Are they trying to tell me that if they combine three of Michael Jackson's videos it won't hit the one billion mark? A man who was around for over forty years to Gaga who's only been around for two? And if they combine three of Beyonce's videos she also won't get to the one billion mark?
Nice try!

Grigori Perelman, Reclusive Russian Math Genius, Refuses $1 Million Prize

Dr Grigori Perelman, a reclusive Russian genius, is refusing to accept the prestigious $1 million "Millennium" mathematics prize awarded by the Clay Mathematics Institute in Cambridge, MA.

Perelman was awarded the prize for solving the one-hundred-year-old PoincarĂ© conjecture, a problem about the geometry of 3-D shapes first proposed in 1946 by French mathematician Henri PoincarĂ©.  It’s widely considered one of the most difficult math problems ever, - so complex, in fact, that after Perelman posted his proofs in 2002 it took several years for other experts to confirm he was correct.

Now Perelman's refusal to accept the prize - the second prestigious prize he has refused - has led some to examine his unorthodox life and dub him 'Mathsputin.'

The 44-year-old Perelman currently resides with his mother and sister in his hometown of St. Petersberg, living extremely humbly. One neighbor told a Moscow Newspaper, "He always wears the same tatty coat and trousers. He never cuts his nails or beard. When he walks he simply stares at the ground, rather than looking from side to side."
Another neighbor told of a time she had visited Perelman's apartment due to problems with cockroaches.

"I was once in his flat and I was astounded," she said. "He only has a table, a stool and a bed with a dirty mattress which was left by previous owners -- alcoholics who sold the flat to him."

After performing some teaching in American Universities, Perelman has apparently given up on mathematics, dismayed at the intellectual and moral failings of his peers. Instead, according to reports, he likes to play table tennis against a wall in his apartment. "You are disturbing me. I am picking mushrooms," he told a journalist who managed to get in touch with him.

This is the same guy who turned down the Nobel Prize for Maths in 2006, which also comes with a serious cash prize. Wish I could collect that money on his behalf..:-)

Wife of Tolu Maintain passes away.

Tolujeje

Former Maintain star Tolu Ogunniyi has lost his wife.
Very reliable sources told NET the singer’s wife Funmilayo Aderonke Ogunniyi with whom he tied the knots in January 2008, passed on early this morning at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
‘She had been sick earlier but got Okay. She just complained yesterday that she wasn’t feeling her body, and they took her to UCH where they said she had Jaundice’, a source close to the family tells NET.

Sadly, the 25 year-old mother-of-one died today, leaving her husband in serious agony, and her two year-old son Bukunmi stranded.
”It’s sad, very sad”, a family friend who lives in the Ogunniyi’s Felele-Ibadan neighbourhood told NET over the phone.

The deceased studied Mass Communication at Olabisi Onabanjo University, but ran a Salon in Ibadan, and traded in gold, before passing on.

Funmi’s widower Tolu is a recording artiste who enjoyed prominence in the nineties as a member of popular pop group Maintain. He recently kicked off his solo career with the release of two fresh singles. Sources say Tolu himself is a sickler.

"I wonder who’ll take care of her baby now”, a family friend told NET. ”This is sad, very very sad”.

Too sad. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.

My New Book Cover

I'm really grateful to you guys on this blog. After some of you complained about my book cover, I went to my publishers and complained. They brought in another graphic designer who produced another book cover. It's delayed printing but I don't mind.

This is the former book cover

And this is the new cover.
